When I arrived, everything was gone. I walked in the door and heard the phone. Sat on the couch and picked it up. That's when everything started to switch up. You see, it aint the big screen, the dining table, king size bed, or kitchenette. My everything's name was sweet Lynette. We lived together for four or five years. I met her in the parking lot outside of Sears. She was scamming for gas money, but I knew better. The smell of drugs was strong on her sweater. 'Where's your car?' I asked with a grin. 'It's not real far. Can I get in?' 'You are one fine, chocolate sista, but I don't play. I'll clean you up and mold you like clay. I can fix your life cause life aint a game. You treat me right and I'll change your last name.' Lynette's eyes got big and she took the bait. She moved in and I set her straight. She got off that drug and I married that girl. I changed her name and gave her the world. I thought we were happy, until that fateful day. When I came home and found Lynette had moved away. It was her on the phone as I sat in the dark. All alone in my home, my dog wouldn't even bark. She said, 'Lambd, I loved you, and appreciate what you done, but this new guy and me are living as one. I'm sorry you hurt, but what can I say? It's been a good four or five years, but today's a new day. Go find you somebody and have you some fun. It was fun while it lasted but this thing is done. I loved you for five years, or say, was it four? Anyway, I like him better. Need I say more?' So guys, if you lookin', and come upon Lynette, Don't buy her a bed or a nice kitchenette. Don't give her a dining room or wide screen TV. Don't offer to help her, take it from me. Don't try to mold her or even get her straight. She'll twist you and break you and fill you with hate. She'll slam you and break you, mock you and scoff. I'm glad, though, she left me. Now I'm much better off. |

U know, no matter what is on your mind, The most important thing would be the last two lines.. As Lauryn said,"What you might make you cry And what you need might pass you by If you don't catch it...." And when it's gone, it's gone, ain't no pipe dreams to fetch it But then again, what is yours cannot be taken Nah mean? Anyway You have to let go of the familiar To receive what is better for you I am only speaking because I have had to do it, too. :-) Nice one, Lambd.. |
