I am pubbing this again because of several reasons: 1. It is a show done by one of the most amazing and multi-talented artist of our time. 2. I drove 3 hours up to Chicago to see the show, we got stuck in traffic on the way back home after the show, my wife surprised me with a $75 necklace she bought from the gift shop during intermission that she will probably only wear once, and by the time got home I still thought it was excellent. (Even though it was too late to return the damn necklace.) 3. The respect I have for the woman who wrote it and the woman who is the show's subject matter is immeasurable. 4. The musical was a huge hit this summer in Chicago. It played to sell out audiences; hence it has been brought back for a rerun. 5. This really an excellent show. You'll laugh a lot, you will admire the strength of this Black woman, and you will get a little teary eyed at times. 6. I have the inside word that Mari Evans has been approached about the possibility of taking the musical to New York off Broadway. As aforementioned, the musical "Eyes" is back a second time at the etaCREATIVE ARTS Theatre in Chicago. Mari Evans wrote it. The cast is an ensemble of commendable talent and the director, Runako Jahi, has really brought the story together with an entertaining and modern flavor. Please check out my posting on this discussion board from 07-28-04 for the official review for the show from the Chicago Trib. ***And then get up off yo arse and go check it out.*** etaCREATIVE ARTS FOUNDATION 7558 South Chicago Avenue Chicago, IL 60619 (773) 752 - 3955 (773) 752-8727 (FAX) "Eyes" Book and Music by Mari Evans Directed by Runako Jahi Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8:00 P.M.
