FreeDom exists in the mind What I seek, and sometimes left behind I think I gave it away Unknowingly at first Perhaps it was stolen, like a enslaved child at birth To be taken and reared Oh you know what’s best for me Best home, best schools, best love to better me But even when I had it all All was not enough… to quinch the thirst of freedom Like confusing love with lust I sought it in small parts, tiny moments, stolen glances I found it in a book, a poem, a moonlight night, a world of chances I felt it in church, during a rising solo and then again at home When Donny sang his song for me…I felt it when all alone. I gathered up the nerve and took flight, wings against the wind Destiny changed, It is now, how it should have always been I am free…and I can’t go back! Freedom exists Freedom is Me!

Two poems involving the subject of freedom. Are these from a recent event or from a flashback? |
