" A year ago, Oprah Winfrey admittedly didn't know what satellite radio was. Now, after signing a three-year, $55 million deal with XM Satellite Radio, she's at the helm of the "Oprah & Friends" radio channel. The pay channel will launch in September and feature far more friends than Oprah. She signed on to host a weekly 30-minute taped "reality radio" program with her best friend, Gayle King. 'This is really about my friends' The rest of the programming will feature shows with people such as Bob Greene, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Robin Smith, Marianne Williamson and Nate Berkus." http://www.suntimes.com/output/entertainment/cst-nws-oprah10.html BOY! That Oprah sure is hellbent on turning her favorite gurlfren Gayle into a media star, Gayle's lack of charisma and talent BE DAMNED. BTW: Chicagoans and those familiar with Chicago media might recall that one of Oprah's Amazing Friends Bob Greene had been a very popular Chicago Tribune columnist and author (co-authored several books with Michael Jordan). Greene lost his Tribune gig and skipped town a few years ago when it was revealed that he'd been boning a teenage girl he had mentored. Wonder when Oprah & Friends touch on issues of child abuse, molestation, sex crimes & improprieties will Greene take a Sick Day. |

The Bob Greene mentioned in the publicty blurb is not the same one who was a featured columnist for the Trib. The one mentioned in the blurb is Oprah's personal trainer who just happens to have the same name as the newspaper man who fell from grace. The personal trainer one was on Oprah's show this morning giving advice about exercise and losing weight. |

Cynique, Dayam!!! Thanks for the correction! That's what I get for being in such a rush to be a smarta$$ that I fail to do my due diligence. *smgdh* One of the things I dislike about this site is you can't edit or delete some bvllshyt once it's been posted. |

Well. Again, I think this is just another attempt at a star vehicle for her friend Gayle. Oprah will probably pop in quite a lot in the beginning but then become less directly involved in the project as time goes on. Hey. Maybe Gayle's one of those smart, clever and glib foks who's got a face that's just perfect for radio. I mean, after all, Gayle is Oprah's best galpal. There simply MUST be something interesting and exciting about HER. Right? |

No biggie, ABM. And I would be remiss if I didn't agree with you about that dork Gayle. If Oprah is the luckiest woman in the world, Gayle is the second luckiest one, because she has Oprah's coattails to ride on. |

Gayle is really a pretty woman. Way better looking than Oprah. But wasn't she married to a white man?

Being an African American and in possession of a Double Consciousness I would of course be of two minds about it: Everybody needs and wants money. Everybody wants appreciation of one's peers or community. Knowing this would mean money and ability to meet chicks I would be excited about it. But I would also feel like I had sold out the entire Black race--probably the same thing happned to poor Dave Chappelle. so on the whole I would like to be able to do that without crawling through the cesspool of the O Universe. |

chrishayden u seem sensible, what do u expect for oprah to do? she has made all of her fans happy and mad at some point throughout her career. what are your expectations of her? are you saying she's selling out because she's got such a huge audience? i know some people who like music groups when there basically unkown and then when they finally start having global sucess then some people say that they've sold out, i hope that's not the reason your not feeling her.... because just because you have a huge audience doesn't make you a sell-out, it makes you rich & famous. |

"Meet chicks, you'd be excited about", chrishayden? How about hens who'd be hard up enough to appreciate your excitement. ROTFLOL, |

Chris, Come on now, playah. Anybody who's been 'round her awhile know you've got more than 2 consciousness rolling around in that dome of yern. Dobes, Don't mind Chris. Oprah just probably looks like some chick who dumped him for a rich White guy. You know that ol' "Dat b*tch done sold me out!" chestnut. |
