Diddy's Unforgivable Scent Is Too Sexy For Some

Department stores in the Midwest are refusing to run a sexually suggestive ad for Diddy's new "Unforgivable" fragrance.
Diddy (born Sean Combs) must now remix the ad to meet the scheduled February launch date. The original ad shows Diddy lying in bed with two women, hinting at a ménage a trois. Though fragrance ads are typically edgy, some feel the sexually charged promo pushes the envelope a bit too far.
"It was unfortunate that some people were so uncomfortable with something with so much sexual presence, but we stand by it," John Dempsey, global president of Estee Lauder said in a statement. "Unforgivable" is a collaboration between the Bad Boy mogul and legendary cosmetic brand Estee Lauder.
Controversy doesn't appear to be slowing sales down. Reports say department stores are continuing to order the fragrance in large numbers.

Diddy Responds To Stink Over Cologne Ads

Advertisements for Diddy's new men's fragrance, Unforgivable, have not been well received by some retailers, and now Diddy is responding to comments about the ad's sexual content.
"People are afraid of what they don't understand," Diddy said via a statement.
As SOHH.com previously reported, the ad features Diddy in bed, flanked by two women-one Asian and one white woman-offering the notion that the trio has just had sex.
In addition to being banned from billboard space on Harlem, NY's 125th Street, many retailers across the country, particularly in the more conservative Midwest and Bible Belt regions, have refused to display the advertisement as well.
Unforgivable's parent company, Estee Lauder, has responded to the objections by reshooting a more store friendly ad, but the original is still being run in magazines and on billboards.
"We believe the ads represent the true spirit of Unforgivable," Estee Lauder's Global President John Dempsey offered, also via statement. "This fragrance is about a man who lives his life with passion and unapologetically, we respect Sean Combs' creative perspective and support him in his vision. While it's unfortunate that some retailers were so uncomfortable with that much sexual presence, we respect their decision to do what is right for them."
Sean John Fragrances is a division of Make-Up Art Cosmetics, Inc, which markets and manufactures a host of skin and hair care products from brands including M.A.C., Aveda, Michael Kors and Bobbi Brown.

Seems to me the trend for black men today is the desire to replace black women in every media venue including perfume ads.

I heard about this when the controversy first began. First of all, it's free publicity so he's only going to sell more fragrance products. Ppl like controversy. I think if a white man did a fashion spread/advertisement depicting a menage a trois, no one would give it a second thought. And if Puffy had taken those pix with a couple of Black chicks, it wouldn't have been an issue either. The only reason that it's causing ripples is because he's in bed with a couple of white girls. One of them is Asian but it's the same doggone thing. White ppl don't want to see a Black man dominate their women or to be able to pull two chicks at once, or to acknowledge that a Black man is sexy enough to have two women, or that his blank is big enough to satisfy two women. That's what I think about it. |

The Europeans couldn't give a rats ass about a nice hot ad like this one, but then they probably thought the same thing about the Danish's depiction of Muhammad. Is that my kitchen on fire? |

White owned Estee Lauder is fully aware of the subliminal propaganda they are "marketing"--it's "Unforgivable" for a black man and a non-black woman/women, especially if she/they is/are white, to enjoy and partake in mutual attraction and sexual pleasure--"just because".
Though Diddy is well-dressed and "kept", I don't find him to be handsome or 'fione'. However, I think the photography was tastefully and beautifully done and makes him appear to be something he is not--sexy. The women in the add are very beautiful!
I think the ads are fine, however, the conflicting (subliminal) message it sends is what I disapprove of.

I think his facial expression in the first photograph is hysterical!!!! His body language shouts, "Damn, I hope my girl doesn't find out." He proably does it so well becaue it's all too familiar--little piggy!!!! LMAO! |

No doubt Diddy is a user. Show me an enormously rich and successful person who's NOT. My point is HE is much more a unique and potent person and figure than those those anonymous post-pubescent chicks they picked to pose with him.
And, yes, cheap/easy women "often %*#" in all shapes, sizes and colors. I only mentioned the races of the models here because that's what EVERYONE else is squawking about. |

Diddy is the consummate Metereosexual man. But he is still kinda dufus. Having those exotic ethnics draped around him helped to give him a scoundrel image. |
