Tonya I didn't see the show what did Oprah do to him to make him look like a fool. I never really liked Dave Letterman anyway. I was always a bigger fan of Jay Leno(maybe because I live here in L.A). |

Poor Dave Chapelle. The burden of being a black man nearly drove him crazy. He was so afraid of what white people were thinking about him that he couldn't cope. He was not empowered by 50 millions dollars, he was intimidated by it. But that's show biz. |

Yeah Sarenasailer, it was Chappelle. Let me say that I am not a fan of Dave Chappelle's for a couple of reasons but I felt sorry for him watching that show. First of all, it seemed as if he was drunk or high or both. How you gonna go on the Oprah show all drunk and high, I don't know. But it's clear that he does indeed suffer from a mental problem, some kind of paranoia apparently; and that's what went down on the set. There's no doubt he was under a lot of stress, who wouldn't be. And of course some of the things he complained about seemed valid enough to explain why one would be frustrated. But his failure to handle it all was clearly due to a mental condition. The fact that he is extremely childish (a result of his condition, probably) was another reason for his demise (or whatever you want to call it). The sadest part, though, is that he doesn't think he has a problem and so he refuses help. I'm telling you, that interview was a train wreck. It just wasn't right. Sad man. And what did Oprah do? you asked.... Nothing! |

Chapelle's a growna$$man. He's been given opportunities that few people - especially Black men - will ever even REMOTELY enjoy. And, to my knowledge, he has NOT been declared mentally disabled or incompetent.
So if he's big/bad enuff to get high and then clowning on Oprah, I say LET HIM. |

i wish i could have seen that interview, i like dave. i could understand him taking a break ... maybe should have done it a little differently, but he did the way he felt was necessary. i just think he caught himself before he went into the mariah carey coo-coo stage. when your ontop of your game and everyone has all the expectations on you, you want to be able to come through, or you put added pressure on yourself to try and out do yourself which is hard when your #1. he'll bounce back, all the great ones do. |

BTW, during the course of the interview with Dave, Oprah mentioned that incident chrishayden brought up wherein she was interviewing some KuKlux Klan members and got blind-sided when she realized that they were ridiculing her. She said that, yes, it gradually occurred to her that she wasn't coming across the way she thought she was and that these men were using her to make themselves look good to their followers in the audience. Coincidence?? Wonder if Oprah ever comes to this site. I hear she's really into computers. If she does, I take it all back, girllfriend. I really love, worship and adore you. And when I grow up, I wanna be just like you. |
