If you don't hate mixed and light-skinned people, you did a very good job of making people think this in your posts, Serenasailor. And nobody ever claimed that these type should be the only representation of blackness. So why would you need to make an argument against this? You can try and backtrack all you want to, but you can't deny that you called mixed women "cunts." You need to stop talking off the top of your head, - Honey. |

Cynique, Dearie. Are you twisting my words or do you just need a reading lesson? I didn't call mixed women Cunts I said Mariah Carey was a Cunt. And who is "nobody"? Society, and color-struck negroes try to suggest all of the time that Vanessa Williams, Halle Berry, and Mariah Carey types should represent blackness. Notice Halle Berry being the first "Black Woman" to win the best actress Oscar. And Vanessa Williams being the first Black Miss America(even though is a black women does not have typical west african features). And Mariah Carey gracing the cover of the black women's magazine Essance(In which the magazine cover referred to her a "Black Woman"). That is what I mean.

What you say it true, Sereansailor. But what is the alternative? If all of these celebs were referred to as the first "mixed" or first "light-skinned" woman to do this or do that, the black community would be insulted. This is a very complicated ambiguous situation and it's beginning to look like the only way for it to be resolved is for light-skinned people to secede from the race and seek a new classification so that they won't be in competition with darker skin ones who will then have full excess to the term "black. But since in addition to white people, every other ethnic group is color-conscious, darker skin people would be back to square one. So, what's your solution to this? I'm tired of pondering it. Let the chips fall where they may. |
