Thanks Lola, you're very generous. Most of the topics here just degenerate into anti-black racial epithets, and I'm very pro-black. I can't stomach embracing white supremacy, especially when it comes from so called blacks. It makes no sense to me to support their cause. But I suspect anti-blackness is all they are capable of articulating here. |

Cynique/Mzuri (not sure which one of you posted and you both sound so similar, who cares?) - yes it's a paradox, isn't it? I claimed that me being so dark skinned adversely affected my life and yet at the same time I posted photographs of myself all over this piece. The truth is that I like my dark skin but I do still believe that its "easier" to have lighter skin in the world in which we live, and the industry in which I work. Simple but sad truth. Just ask my younger sis, who is currently interning in Manhattan at a major fashion magazine. She's several shades darker than me and all her boyfriends are white - not out of choice. |
