When congratulated years ago on the success of his Rambo series on top of his Rocky series Sylvester Stallone boasted that he had successfully exploited another open wound to make money.
With Rambo it was the Vietnam War.
With Rocky it was the fact that they can't buy a white heavyweight champion.
In particular it was the failure of any Great White Hope to successfully humble and silence Loud Mouth Black Muslim Pretty Boy Cassius Clay--
Muhammad Ali to youse. Oh, how they seem to forget--white apologists like Cynique gushing about how much white people love Ali--how big of them to love a man who is a mental and physical wreck and no threat now--and forgetting how they stripped him of his title, tried to send him to jail--the death threats, the plots.
Apollo Creed was definitely supposed to stand in for Muhammad Ali and the white men got their revenge on the screen--Rocky supposed to stand in for their last dominant champ, Rocky Marciano (who had no style, defended his title six times against tomato cans and wisely retired so he did not have to get his clock cleaned by Floyd Patterson)
Well, next week Rocky is back. 60 years old, getting in the ring and mixing it up with some young buck. So watch it. I suspect--until their are the resulting cuttings, shootings and beatdowns which will bring them down to earth--in the next couple of weeks you'll have some of these guys trying to throw down in bars, etc. |

Who cares? You'll be the first one in line to buy a ticket to this movie, chrishayden, because it'll remind you of Friday night Smackdpown. FYI, I recently noted in a post that Ali was once persona non grata in the white community but you have to distort things to try and make your point. It's amazing how a big sucker like you can be such a little creep. |
