than the usual name calling and such. Does anyone here meditate or fast? For those that do, would any of you happen to have low blood pressure or hypoglycemia? How do you deal with it? I've been meditating for a while now, but I have a problem with it lowering my (already quite low) blood pressure. I would like to reap the benefits of meditation without that one side effect. Also, I've been wanting to fast, but have hypoglycemia. Of course, I'll talk to a doctor first about it...but, I've heard (correct me if I'm wrong) that all Muslims over 12 have to fast during Ramadan, and there's an herb that helps hypoglycemics not get sick. Is this true? |

if you have low blood pressure, you should consult a physician before going on a fasting regimen. it can be dangerous for folks with that condition. i believe pregnant women also are not required to the fast during Ramadan either. |

oh, I'm not Muslim...I just wanted to know if anyone knew about the herb. I can't fast right now because of my hypoglycemia, but I didn't know it affected low bp too. |

Renata, Naturally, ask your physician. However, coventional doctors aren't trained to monitor supervised fasts. In fact, many are trained to believe fasting is detrimental to the all-over health of the body --which is so backwards. Nonetheless, because of your condition, be cautious. Research the 'Master Cleanse' which is excellent cleansing program! Also, there is a company called Renew Life that has excellent cleansing products that fit nicely into everyday living. Consider colonhydrotherapy. It may seem gross, but it really is beneficial for cleansing. When you "cleanse", don't forget to take probiotics (good bacteria that everyone should take daily). Probiotics can be found at most health food stores/markets. Brands such as Garden of Life, Flora, Bio-K, and Renew Life are all reputable companies for such. I think cleansing is great and I try to do it seasonally. Having a cleansing day once a week is also healthy -consuming no meat, dairy, or refined foods. The health benefits are numerous! Happy Cleansing!
