ok, i will say that beyonce is attarctive (she was prettier BEFORE her NOSE JOB), and she does have a number of "catchy" songs.
but am i the only one who thinks that beyonce is WAY overrated and not really as talented, beautiful, and the "supreme diva" that she is made out to be?
first of all, beyonce is not that great of a singer. many of her songs (imo) sound the same.
beyonce is attactive, but i don't think she is as beautiful as many people (hip-hop personalities etc) make her out to be. she does look good, but there are MANY female entertainment people who are mush better looking than she is (to me kelly rowland is flat out more attractive than beyonce).
but above all, the thing about beyonce that gives me "the chills", is when she opens her mouth to speak.
its VERY clear that beyonce has a poor grasp of the english language. every time she speaks, she gives the appearence of a "back-water" country girl, who is the product of "lower level" surroundings.
its like they try to pass beyonce off as some kind of "high brow" socialite, who is the zenith of class, beauty, and culture.
but in reality, beyonce knowles is just a simple country girl who can barely speak correct english.
don't get me wrong, beyonce is an attractive female, and she has accomplished alot.
if i saw her in person, im sure id be in awe.
i just don't think she is as great as many people have made her out to be.
anyone else think so? |

What an exercise in redundancy your post was, lil-ze. LOL. I do, however, agree that Beyonce sounds "country" when she talks, but - she exudes that indefinable quality of glamour. |

I don't think she's country, necessarily. I think she's very young, and not yet as refined and well-spoken as she will be once she matures. She also seems to act nervous, and that's because she's probably not comfortable being in the public fishbowl. |

isn't beyonce like 25?
she's been in the "public eye" for atleast 8 years.
she's had ALOT of time to become "well-spoken".
i think she just does not have the capacity to speak proper english.
her "country" english, is just in her blood. |

Her brain has not yet matured to adulthood. That happens at age 26. She will become more refined and sophisticated as she grows older. In the meanwhile, try to make do with all those other chicks you have available to you  |

Beyonce is very country. Yes, Lil_ze B is very overrated as well. I am just tired of these cookie-cutter marketable ass Black Women that they want to throw in everybodies face as the standard for Black beauty. Halle Berry, Alicia Keyes, and Beyonce. I am so sick of these women. I wish Hollywood would get some new Black actresses.
B is very unintelligent and backwards. However, it is not her fault. She is just the product of over zealous stage parents. And Mzuri if B has not learned how to speak correctly at 25 then she will never learn.
I just wish that we see some beautiful BLACK WOMEN like Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Kerry Washington gracing the covers of mainstream fashion mags. Also, B is not that pretty to me because she is not a natural beauty. She wears way to much make-up, and way to much fake hair. Give me Kelly Rowland, and Latoya Luckett anyday. B is just what the white folks want. Someone who is not so overwelmingly BLACK that they make them uncomfortable. |

I don't agree that Beyonce is unintelligent, Serenasailor, and millions of black fans love her because she's appealing and knows how to put herself over. Certainly she's not a raging intellect, but who among her show biz peers is, including those mudane bimbos you named, not to mention that muscle-bound airhead, Serena Williams, the poster girl for bad hair extensions. Alas, it looks like Beyonce is about to experience a back-lash from people like you and Lil Z who think fame came too easily for her and want to see her taken down a notch.
The person I think is overrated is that moon-faced Mary J. Blige. She won 9 Billboard awards and just got nominated for 8 Grammys, for her caterwalling about the vissisitudes of life, while wearing a crown of blond braids and stalking around the stage like her feet hurt. And if she didn't have the constant reference to her Lord and Savior to get her through a sentence, she'd be almost mute. (Sorry, Mary, I still think you could play Nina Simone - if they print the script in phonetics.) |

I, too, think that Beyonce is overrated. But it's not her fault. From a marketing standpoint, her publicity/management machine has done its job- and done it very well.
I admire her work ethic & dedication- and it's something about her that, at times, comes across as humble. And I like that. |

she sounds like alot of people who are from texas when she speaks, just because someone has a twang in their voice or a southern drawl doesn't make that person unintelligent. actually it seems to me that she keeps her speaking to a minimum because people want to critque her every move and wait for her to stumble. she's been performing since she was a kid, this wasn't overnight this was years in the process. over rated is when someone truly lacks skill and is given alot props for something other than the talent that they should... sorta like your boy 50 cents.
i should have known captain dumbass serenasailor would make a comment in regards to skin complextion. those broads that you like aren't getting their props because they havent put out multi platinum cds ... kelly roland's cd was garbage and latoya was straight but obviously shes not doing enough to get better promotion. so get the fudge outtahere with that gabrielle union crap she's no better actress than anybody else and she also wont show off her assets, and it's obvious your opinion means shit compared to everyone else. you live in cali .... make a low budget movie with your low budget ass and since you know so much about quality and talent, it shouldn't be hard to get these people to sign on and for you to be an absolute success.

Serena Williams is no airhead. Bad hair extensions, yes, unintelligent, not. On the pro tennis circuit, she and her sister Venus are considered among the most well read and articulate. Serena speaks at least four languages and has been all over the world many times over. Not bad for a girl straight outa Compton, granddaughter of a sharecropper.
Guess it depends on what your definition of stupid is. I don't think Beyonce is dumb either. She may be hyped to the heavens because of the way she looks, but the fact that she writes (most of) her own songs is impressive.

Thanks for the back story on Serena. I just wanted to taunt Serenasailor. I got my mistaken impression about Serena Williams being an airhead because, when interviewed after her losses, like most self-absorbed athletes, all she does is whine and offer inarticulate tear-filled excuses. |

Okay dumb ass bitch ass doeberman I said nothing about skin complexion. What I said was I am tired of certain women being held as the standard for Black beauty ASSWIPE!!!!
