Check out Dreamgirl" Jennifer Hudson's version of "And I Am Telling You." She sounds almost as good as Holiday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McH134UFbHA |

Jennifer is really stealing Beyonce's thunder in this picture and all of the hoopla surrounding it. There is even a best-supporting actress Oscar buzz for her. When the Dream Girls cast was on Oprah's show, Beyonce's smile was less than beaming as she had to sit there and endure the wild standing ovation Jennifer got when she came on stage. Don't fret, Beyonce. You still got Jay-Z. |

LOL@ Jay-Z. Rumor has it Hova has eyes for Riyanna, "Beyonce 2". If "Dreamgirls" is a big hit, Beyonnce may find herself playing second fiddle in more ways than one. Wouldn't that a trip if Houston, after being bounced from American Idol by Simon's sharp tongue, gets an Oscar nomination? Talk about getting the last lol. |

That girl is bad, you hear me?!? (gotta get the CD!) Thank you sooo much for posting this, Robynmarie, thanks so much, what a treat! This has got to be song of the last few decades, since Holiday herself; you are right. I hope and truly pray that this song marks the beginning of a not so new era: Bring back the professionals, baby, bring back the music! (…and purge the bullshit (sorry B!). We're moving on hopefully! |

Jay Z?? Oh, lord. I’m sure Ms. Jennifer Hudson would tell Beyonce that she can have Jay Z and ALLLLLLLLLLL of the Jay Z's out there. Seriously. Jennifer ain’t thinking about no Jay Z--ain’t that much money in the word. BUT THE QUEEN HAS SPONEN THOUGH *LOLOLOLOLOL* (GO HEAD GIRL, I'M PROUD OF YOU!!!). |

Rihanna is Jay Z's "discovery" who he is rumored to be cheating with.. They say she looks like a younger Beyonce. Supposedly Beyonce's song "Ring the Alarm" is written about Rihanna http://cdn.digitalcity.com/music-photos/aim_int_rihanna_poster.gif. I am not sure who Jennifer is romancing....maybe Simon Cowell. LOL. I am not sure what Jennifer looks much better on her website than she did on Oprah. Maybe she didn't want to totally outshine Beyonce. As you say, Tonya, the girl can holla! |

I think it's time Jay Z work on his self-esteem. He's becoming too obvious, and, frankly, using light-skinned women the way that he does is a throwback to a time I think we'd all like to forget. No matter what you are--light, dark or whatever--you never wanna see women getting dogged out this way. And it just kills me because Jay Z does not look like the type of guy who is worth it. Foxy says he can eat some mean P#$$Y...but still...at some point that nigga gotta come up - FACT TO FACE - yikes! As for Jennifer, I didn't like the way they had her looking on Oprah either. That weave was ridiculous; the top part of her head (her natural hair it seemed) didn't match the sides, front or back. It was like they ran out of weave, WTF! They need to recognize that the girl is a STAR and start making her up accordingly, my god! She's a beautiful girl, so it's not like it can't be done. But, hey, maybe you're right; they probably didn't want her to out-do Beyonce too bad. It was already a crying shame. And they did go out of their way to make sure Beyonce looked her best; for a minute I though I was watching the Oscars, I mean girlfriend was shitty sharp, lol. Anyway, I'm not into crowded theatres but this Movie is gonna definitely get me to one. And thanks for the clip. Jennifer Holiday was a bad ass as well. |

Jay-Z is a colorstruck chauvanist, if his lyrics are any indication of how he treats women. So ironic that this time the dark skin girl (Jennifer) outshines the light skinned media darling. |

Jay-Z color struck? Noooo. You don't say? And I thought ol Hova was different from all of his contemporaries. And here we goooo again with the color thing. To me, Jennifer is not dark-skinned. She's light brown. But she is hefty, which is what her character calls for her to be, as does Beyonce's character call for her to be a glamourous diva like Diana Ross. As we know, Dream Girls is the movie version of the Broadway musical based on the rise and fall of The Supremes. The hairstyles being sported are how the wigged-out Supremes wore their hair back in the day. (Too bad ol flannel mouth renatata is in retreat or we could be subjected to the dizzy way she puts her cock-eyed spin on what is said. LMAO. Mzuri, stand by in case this stiff comes back to life.) |

A bonafide star? NOT! Maybe later. From the looks of it she is in desperate need of a professional stylist. Not a hair stylist (although I can't figure out what's up with the bangy-bangs), an overall wardrobe consultant type of stylist. That sequined dress is hideous! I can never figure out why full-figured women feel the need to show off their boobs. Do they think that people won't realize they have them unless they actually see them or what? |

I usually can't stand those "Po'gy I's yo woman now" songs. LOL But this girl does have some skills, which is refreshing to hear--especially in this current musical environment. However, to me she makes the same mistake most of these young stars who can actually sing do: She feels she has to trot out every skill she has in the span of 5 minutes. Hopefully she'll be around long enough to mature, but right now I can't say this version has anything on Diva Holiday's! |

Mzuri, that's another thing I was thinking when I saw her on Oprah. The dress they had her in was way too casual; it was like something you'd lounge around in. She was looking completely laid back. But I'm thinking this is all because she just came onto the scene--BLASTED ONTO THE SCENE is more like it. I doubt if anybody expected her to blow up like this. She caught them all off guard and they just weren't prepared. But don't worry; if she keeps singing the way she is now, she'll have her own stylist in no time. Let's just hope Clive Davis doesn’t decide to pull a Whitney Houston on her and try to whiten her up. She’s much too pretty the way she is, she looks like a little black Barbie doll, there's no need for change in that area. And please lord; don't let that man fuck up the SOUL. Girlfriend makes me wanna go to church! …and it’s been some time since my heathen ass been feeling this way--she gone fuck around and make me find Jesus! |

Oh shit! Me and Tonya agree on something. Must be getting ready to storm. Anyway, I think JH is an attractive woman, she just needs a little bit of help. And being that wardrobe consulting is one of my fortes (plus interior design and fashion are within the same realm) it bothers me when people aren't dressed correctly. It really isn't that expensive to dress well and accentuate the positive aspects of one's physique (we all know that a person can spend a small fortune on an outfit and still look like crap). But it does take some time to develop an elegant sense of style and until that happens, JH needs to let her fingers do some walking thru the yellow pages. |

The only previous accomplishment she has ever made to the public was making it as an contestant on American Idol. Afterwards, she got cast in Dreamgirls, did a remarkable job in her role from all the reviews, and her career has skyrocketed since then. She's a talented girl, & very lucky. This doesn't happen too often. |

I hate that song. LOL. Chris, I call these kinds of songs "Po'gy I's yo woman now"-songs exactly for that reason: They sound as if they are written by a White man imagining what a Black woman would feel. You done me wrong, you ain't much, but I sho do love you and I ain't leavin' no matter what you do... Ick! |

If y'all listen to it in the collective sense, it kinda makes a lot of sense for black women who feel that way...and many do, rightly or wrongly…me?…some days I'm on, and some days I'm off.

Yvette, what happened to "I ain't too proud to beg" ...a song you once said was one of your favorites because of the hook? What--it's only cool when it's a bunch of light-skinned girls who aren't too proud to beg? LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Cynique, they could be perceived as the exact opposite: maybe she's so proud of herself (and her race) that she wants to give birth to herself again, in which case she would need a black man, someone who's ~part of the same place, same blood, same mind,~ ect.

Beyonce, of "bootielicious" fame, does not have a flat butt. Yeah, Jennifer is gettin all the props but - that's show biz! Beyonce has had her share of accolades so she should just put on a brave smile, and then - go into seclusion and sulk. |
