At this point the polls indicate that the Democrats will take the House and stand a good chance of taking the Senate. I cannot believe that the GOP will go out like that, particularly with the blizzard of investigations that is likely to ensue. It seems that the unpopularity of the War in Iraq is one of the leading things dragging the Republicans' popularity down. What would happen if right now we caught Osama and the resistance in Iraq and the Taliban in Afghansitan surrendered? What would happen if it was announced that these things happened say, the Sunday before the election and we only found out it was fake some time later? |

That's a mighty big hypothetical, don't you think? If Osama is ever caught - I personally would want to see his detached head impaled upon a rod. And DNA test results to ascertain that it's really his head. His capture would be a huge morale booster for everyone in the U.S., because I think he's the most hated human being on the planet. But he's also one of the most revered. As far as who's going to win, it's impossible to predict. The polls can say one thing today and everything can be different tomorrow. Like I said before, I'm voting for Kinky. The rest of the people that I vote for will be whomever I feel will do the best job - whether they are Dems or Repubs doesn't make me any difference. |

Who is "Kinky", Mzuri? I think the outcome of the elections hinges a lot on the "Undecideds" and "Independents" and the machination of Karl Rove. For one thing, "according to the indicators", the economy is in good shape, and the Republicans are predicting that the Dems will raise taxes. Finding and killing Obama and other Al Quaida leaders won't make a helluva difference, as evidenced by how the rumors of Bin Laden's death didn't generate a lot of excitement because people are becoming savvy enough to know that he is now just a figurehead and that his death would be an inspiration to his followers. The public has also become cynical enough to spot a ploy, and a last minute drastic turn of events in Iraq would reek of manipulation on the part of the Republicans. But whether this would influence the vote or not is uncertain. Apathy also remains a factor. The sentiment that one party is just as bad as the other may actually keep many voters at home. This bodes well for Republicans because the coalition of groups who support them are fanatics who rally to the cause even if it means forgiving pedophiles. But the bottom line is that everybody just wants to vacate Iraq and if the spin-master Karl Rove can make this seem like a cowardly act, out of step with the American tradition, then everything is up for grabs. |

”As far as who's going to win, it's impossible to predict. The polls can say one thing today and everything can be different tomorrow.” Agreed. I was watching the news this morning and it does appear as if the Dems are lost in a celebratory circle jerk. NOTHING IS OVER UNTIL IT IS OVER! I even heard the Republicans conceding the House and now directing their focus and energy on the Senate –on FOX channel news! Duuuhhhhh….??!!! ”Like I said before, I'm voting for Kinky. The rest of the people that I vote for will be whomever I feel will do the best job - whether they are Dems or Repubs doesn't make me any difference.” Agreed again. Since I have no use for either party, I vote the issues not the party line. I will vote for candidates who reflect my interests and concerns. "What would happen if right now we caught Osama and the resistance in Iraq and the Taliban in Afghansitan surrendered?" Oh, we know the answer to that. But it won't happen -not in our life time!

Polls or no polls. Republicans get their folks out to vote. In many areas, Democrats seem to have a hard time with this. We'll see. |
