Thandie Newton surprised over Angelina Jolie’s casting

Thandie Newton is surprised that Angelina Jolie was picked to play the wife of Daniel Pearl in new movie A Mighty Heart because Mariane Pear is mixed-race, of Afro-Cuban and Dutch descent.
Thandie told the Sun: “God, I’m shocked. She’s been blacked up to play a black women. I have to say it’s surprising, very surprising.”
She did admit though that she would have loved the part: “It’s an absolutely fantastic role, I would loved to have played it.”
“But I’m not going to criticise or judge her until I’ve seen the film, that would be wrong of me.”

I feel that the casting of Jolie in this role has more to do with the fact that Daniel Pearl (and the actor portraying him) was a white man, than anything else. Because if the producers wanted a light-skinned or mixed Black actress - there are plenty enough of them to go around. The producers probably didn't want to recreate the true life racially mixed couple. That's what I think about it. |

The fact that Brad Pitt's production company is making this movie might juuuuuuust have something to do Angelina Jolie being cast in the lead role. |

well im not sure about the "politics" surrounding the casting of this film, but i will say this.
angelina jolie is a MUCH better actress than thandie newton.
i think angelina jolie will probably do a good job playing the wife of daniel pearl.
i think angelina jolie looks more like the widow of daniel pearl than any other actress (black or otherwise) does.
some times we just have to understand that some actresees are better than others, without regard to race.
nicole kidman is light years ahead of halle berry in terms of acting ability.
angelina jolie was more than likely the BEST woman for the role.
sometimes the best actor gets the role.
its not always about race.
also, angelina jolie COULD be a woman of mixed cuban extraction. some cuban females do look like angelina jolie. her (angelina jolie) mother was part native american. |

I've always thought that Angelina Jolie looked as if she had some black heritage in terms of her bone structure. So while it may be unfair that she got the role, with the darker skin, she doesn't look unconvincing as a mixed race person. |

I am sick of Angelina Jolie. I still don't know how she got away with that Boris and Natasha voice she used in "Alexander".
I hope the dumb heifer is so crazed she plays the role in blackface with big white lips. |

The same as what I wondered of Halle Berry with her Ghetto-Black-Chick accent in SEVERAL of the roles she played.
I hope the dumb heifer is so crazed she plays the role in blackface with big white lips.
At least she'd be more convincing than a Halle in BLACKFACE with a sistagurl hair cut EVER was. I mean, she is the much better actress, after all. |

I think Jolie being cast has more to do with her being a big name in Hollywood than anything else. I mean, really, who cares about this shit? No one heard of or even gave a damn about Daniel Pearl (outside of his colleagues, friends, and immediate family) until he was kidnapped and beheaded by Pakistani Muslim Extremists.
This film doesn't exactly have "BLOCKBUSTER" written all over it. But perhaps the Angelina Jolie name will result in major box office. But methinks this will go straight to dvd.
I know I don't plan on seeing it ... unless I get a free ticket, dinner and cocktails and have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BETTER TO DO. |

Honestly. I've not concerned myself about Daniel Pearl even AFTER he was kidnapped and beheaded. Why? Because MILLIONS of foks are killed throughout the world...EVERYDAY.
I really hate to go here: This entire Daniel and Marianne Pearl story has got JEWISH self-aggrandizement all over it. So it should be NO surprise that the JEW-run media/Hollywood would be making more of this than it deserves. |

I'm a fan of Thandie. I often find her to be utterly LICKABLE.
But considering how she's presented herself both as an actress (mostly cast coupled with White men) and person (MARRIED and PARENTING with a White man) as some rainbow coalitioner, I find it 'interesting' that SHE of all people would go racial here. |

I agree Jolie's accent in Alexander was atrocious. I mean, I don't know what a pre-Christ Macedonian queen would sound like. But it's likely she would NOT sound like she was from Siberia. |
