I think it's the long, flowing blonde hair that makes her look so out of place.
She caught a lot of flack for wearing her blonde extensions/wig to Tanzania.
But I'd really like to know how she kept her hair looking so flawless & neat under all that heat and humidity. |

Brownbeauty123....a weave worn in Africa is under no more pressure than a weave in California or in summertime Georgia. I'm sure she brought everything she needed to Africa, not to mention---don't gasp---but they have beauty salons all over the place. They have major cities everywhere you know.
The tragedy of these photos is that she returned to Africa in the image of her White Slave Master, the image of Africa's invading Colonizer.
Some will idolize her for the part of her that is WHITE.
And the cycle of black people's dehumanization continues on---now through its own child.

Hmmmmmmm....well....I liked the pics. She is a very attractive young woman. Is that debatable? I don’t think she is particularly that talented but she does look good. Even without her celebrity status (e.g. being an obscure cashier at Wal-Mart), I don’t think she would have any problems getting dates.

Just like White and Black people have a right "to be", so do Biracial/Multi-"racial" people. Obviously, she respects her "African"/Black heritage, otherwise, she wouldn't even care to step foot in Africa --but she does (and has). However, it is also clear that she is of mixed ancestery. Therefore, whether she's rockin' an afro or long, golden locks, she looks amazing --because she has the "blood" to do so! And, that is not to say that every Biracial individual can pull this off, she just happens to have it like that (combination of good genes on BOTH sides!) Also, because she (obviously!) isn't totally authentic, she shouldn't be expected to represent something she's not, and, on top of it, be criticized for it.

What exactly is authentic and what measurable values or advantages are there to being authentic as opposed to being non-authentic? I was responding to Kola's post regarding how it was a "tragedy" that Beyonce returned to Africa in the "image of her White Slave Master" --as if she can't "just be" the way she is (mixed race).
I don't believe in the whole "authentic" thing either --because, simply put, America has an extremely different history than Africa. And that history will never change. And, from that history, two very different cultures have emerged --one not better than the other --just different --and understandably so.

My favorite look of Beyonce is the one of her wearing an afro (even if it were only an wig). It just seemed to give her a very different, almost stronger kind of energy.
But then, I generally LOVE afros on Black women. So maybe I'm unfairly biased. |

Beyonce looks like a walking Halloween ad...a werewolf, a witch and a jack'o lantern all in one. Thank God the village witch doctor was on hand to cast her orange ass out.
Is it not obvious to you all that she is a witch, just like her lush of a mother? I think her voice is outstanding...a little too outstanding. Her mother probably concocts potions for her daughter to drink to sound like that. I mean, she makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up when she sings... very hypnotizing.
Back to Beyonce in Africa. Look at her relishing all that attention. Just like a true blue redbone--they aren't happy unless they are the center of attention.
She was on Oprah today with the cast of "Dreamgirls." As usual, she had a stank look on her face, since she had to share the stage with a more talented woman who happens to be dark-skinned, the gorgeous Jennifer Hudson. Oprah mentions oscar to Jennifer, and Beyonce almost slid off her seat. Beyonce even went as far as to plead her case to the public: "...I finally feel like an actress. I did my best." It amazes me how redbones continue to have such a sick sense of entitlement. Can you believe she actually said "growed up" on the show, in front of millions of people? And certain black folks rush to embrace this vacuous orange fright of a dodo bird as authentically black, a personification of all that is right about African Americans since the days of slavery? |
