Here's a little something that I've started on other message boards and I think it would lend itself well here. From time to time, I pick a board member and "interview" them in a non-threatening, non-intrusive way- you know, to give folks better insight into the person. ABM, you have the honor of being the first: 1. How did you come up with your screen name? What does it stand for? 2. What state are you in? 3. What is your profession? 4. Outside of AA literature, what are your hobbies? 5. What are your inspirations in life? 6. What would you say is the most memorable thread to date on this board? 7. What wayward member do you wish would return? 8. Do you have any talents that we don't know about? 9. Fish, steak or pizza? What's your preference on a Friday night? 10. Beer, Cosmopolitan or Jack n Coke? What's your poison on a Friday night? 11. What do you like to do to unwind? |

This is a woman thing, isn't it? Playing Truth or Dare. Wanting us to introduce ourselves. After all, I suppose he is posting here under the name ABM because he doesn't want anyone to know him. What is this female obsession with wanting to KNOW somebody better. How would you know if he lies? What do most people do but lie like a rug whatever the occasion? An enquiring male mind wants to know! |

Enquiring Male Mind - Besides his profession (if he doesn't want us in his business) what else is there to lie about on the above listed questions? We already know he's in Chicago. You're just jealous that nobody wants to interview you. |

Thank you, Mzuri. FYI Chris, I subscribe to the belief that some of our members lead VERY interesting lives. And considering some members have been on this board only a few months, while others have been here since the beginning of time, it'll be nice to "know" them a bit more. Many times, members use the interviews for networking opps for hobbies & business. Geez Chris, your panties are showing. |

You two Windows of Openness are also posting under psuedonyms, I see. Why is that. What is good for the gander is good for the goose. If you want openness, you have to start up first. Go on and post some of your most intimate details up here, or let us ask you questions. We're waiting. But we're not holding our breaths. You're just a pair of busybodies with nothing to do. Get off these computers and get a life. |

1. How did you come up with your screen name? What does it stand for? Funny. I don’t recall WHY I was inspired to go with the ABM handle, other than, perhaps, I have a slightly sick proclivity for acronyms. ABM – A Black Man. 2. What state are you in? Illinois...Go BEARS!!! 3. What is your profession? I have interests in a few small businesses. And I’m a CPA. 4. Outside of AA literature, what are your hobbies? I write some, not enuff though. Been working on a novel for a couple years. I am awestruck by those who can complete a well-written and engaging novel. I consider such, along with great music and comedy, to be amongst the highest manifestations of human power. Also, an please don't laugh, as of late I've been re-reading old math and science text books. There's a part of me that wants to get a graduate degree and physics. GOD I hope I get over THAT shyt!! 5. What are your inspirations in life? My mother, wife and kids inspire me. My wife’s departed father inspires me. But, honestly, were I FULLY to answer this question honestly, I would probably embarrass myself. 6. What would you say is the most memorable thread to date on this board? WOW!!! You know, there have been so MANY, it’s very DIFFICULT single out just one, or 2 or even a 10 for that matter. Kola and I have had MYRIAD interesting discussions. Far too many for me to fairly recount here. Though I would include amongst some favorites she and I discussing the finer points of her procuring third-party punnany for Thomas. I’m STILL figure out how to do a Jedi Mindtrick on my wife to score THAT kinda deal. Also amongst my very favorites have been some fairly lengthy, in depth exchanges with Yukio. Though things got HILARIOUSLY weird when Yukio admitted to being a man – after a year or more of pretending to be otherwise. The part that scares me about that whole episode is were I not married I might have tried to bone Yukio. EEEWWWWW!!!! Carey discussing his love and appreciation for his dearly departed wife, who were in her own right was a very interesting and beloved presence here. Dat nikka Lambd is a living laughriot. When he and I got together, the shyt reminded of the kinds of fun I had in college. And some unknown person who was alleged to be some famous author started a series of sleazy soap opera threads, one where we could sorta add our own shyt to. They were great fun...Until Yours Truly went into the direction of Troy and I phallically tagteaming Kola. Can you believe that thread just SUDDENLY disappeared? Hahahaha!!! It disappoints me that it seems too much of the discourse here centers on colorism. And even the chickfights – which I otherwise LOVE – are far too frequent and meanspirited for my tastes. I recall there much more diverse topics. (The recent debates about Spike Lee’s movie “When The Levees Broke” were in that vein.) And even when we differed, it seemed to me that such more good-natured. But I’ll concede to possibly being biased. 7. What wayward member do you wish would return? There are a few. Kola's been sparce lately. But you go'on make dat papah, baby. I miss Lambd, Carey, JustWrite, Sisg, LiLi, Linda, etc. It's always fun when bigballah Troy pays his humble subjects a visit. Oh...And it would be nice if THUMPER made an occasional 'guest appearance' on "THUMPER'S Corner"...Hahahahaha!!! 8. Do you have any talents that we don't know about? I’ve been told I have a wonderful ear for music. My high school music teacher lamented his not being able to instruct me at an earlier age. My actress sister-in-law has been at me for years to do voiceover work. And I have been talking with a friend who hosts a radio show about doing some talk radio. I won several dance contests while in college. Was always amongst the fastest of my school age friends. You’re gonna either have to pay to discover some of my ‘other’ talents...or at least get my wife’s pre-approval. *wink* 9. Fish, steak or pizza? What's your preference on a Friday night? I’d PREFER steak…but I’m more inclined to have fish. Hell. It’s either that, or my wife will be stuffing some vegetarian or soy-based shyt into me. 10. Beer, Cosmopolitan or Jack n Coke? What's your poison on a Friday night? Depends on the situation. If I expect to get any lovin’ from my wife, I’ll go the Jack n Coke route. Beer breath doesn’t make for good foreplay with the Missus. 11. What do you like to do to unwind? See 10...Hahahahaha!!! |

Kola, How you doing, Killer? You know I've got nothing by love (and wood) for you too. Well, admittedly, I've been slightly embarrassed about the book. It hasn't come along nearly as well as it should have. It's a wierd thing. I actually see and hear the characterizations and storylines play out in my mind's eye. But when I attempt to put pen to page, everything seems to run dry and flat. |

Hi ABM, I'm going to cry. I had a cancer scare but I don't have cancer! (you have no idea what horror I've been through the past weeks). Additionally, when I had liposuction out of the country (you remember?)--too much fat was removed from my body at one time and caused nervous system illness ("Fat Ephasia"). Then the huge blow up in the press added so much stress and drama that I wasn't prepared for---and along with that came a flurry of very frightening death threats and crazy people saying that they had to kidnap me in order to save me from CIA mind control. My life has been a living hell for the last months. But I have a lot planned coming up (for instance, I'm so nervous for you to hear me sing--thanks Nolan Fane for your big mouth and welcome to the board!--as I know you will be able to tell that I can't really sing! LOL. But anyway, there's a 5,000 year old Egyptian song that I've longed to bring to American blacks. It's called "My Breasts Are Filled With Milk and Honey" and I'm going to make a video singing it live and plaster that video everywhere. I would like that to be in the canon of Kola Boof contributions as the words from our Nilotic mothers 5,000 years ago have great, great meaning. I'm also going to have a facelift. YES. I know we discussed it so many times, but I'm very vain and insecure ABM, and the more famous I become, the more I'm criticized (like all black women are) for not being perfect . White media and black men alike roasted me during the publicity blitz for supposedly not being "pretty enough" for someone like Osama to rape. Women (even black women) consistently join the frey, and it seems that everywhere I go, my "looks" are the constant focus and entry for criticism. But the fact is--I have very beautiful bone structure and was once as striking as any so called "beauty"---but what they're seeing now are the remnants of a house-wife-mother who's had a very hard life. So now I want to recover my beauty. Again...in my television interview on MSNBC, they "darkened" me and shot me from a very unattractive camera angle and my face was HANGING from all the weight I've lost. You weren't able to see how skinny I am now: Do you see how my face is HANGING off the bone??? Look at my hands. I need a facelift, daddy. When I go on tour and come to Chicago, I expect that you and Desire will be anonymously in the crowd--and I just want to be pretty for you. It will kill me if you don't think I'm pretty. I know it's VERY silly and to some--disgustingly vain--but that's how I feel. Of course, I have to heal from the "Fat Ephasia" brought on by losing 22 pounds during liposuction FIRST. Haha! The boys are doing GREAT!!!! Surely they've been worried about me, but my mother's here and along with their father---much has been kept from them. They realize that I'm a very hated author and that the sudden press coverage (which is always skewed negative because of the White media's distaste for my Africanness) really took a toll on my peace of mind. One thing I am gaining--is enormous support from the Black literary establishment. I had no idea how well read I am amongst the more "scholarly" and "intellectual" black literary writers, and receiving so many accolades from them has been a lifesaver. I do really want to return to the board, but I am still weak and to be blunt--I'm not ready to endure Cynique and Mzuri's accusations and attacks. I need so many types of healing--emotionally, spiritually, physically, intellectually---that I just don't have the strength to fight, and especially over the shallow and unimportant.

ABM, I believe I told you before. YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! "G" You so bad you even brought the elusive Miss Kola Boof out of hybernation. Miss Kola Boof--greetings. Let me just rehash from our email that you are a goddess. It was a pleasure to hear you singing at rehearsals and I thought you sounded good. I really liked the songs though I didn't know what the hell you were talking about. LOL!!! I got a copy of your new poetry book and it's slamm'n! The best poetry book I have ever read in my life. I look forward to you returning to the board and I pray that you get well and get some rest. A lot of us are here for you.

Tis a strangely persistent oDARE that prevails on this website. It's quite a woefully pungent mix of haterade, female cattiness, pseudo-intellectual brinkmanship and dycklessness that might appear funny were it not more than slightly pathetic. |

Renata, I will accept the idea that women can admire the appearance of men without wanting to give them some if you will accept the fact that the very notion of such seems crazy as hell. Deal? Renata: "I saw your post about the "vegetarian or soy-based shyt". What's the deal with men and your fear of all things vegetable/soy?" We skurred that shyt might cause our dycks to stop working. |

I guess people who don't have a sense humor because they are so pompous, might find all of the nonsense that goes on on this board "pathetic," Other people are able to relax their butt cheeks and laugh at it cuz it ain't that serious. |

Kola sweetie, just a little side note: That picture of you is beautiful, your weight looks spectacular and your face IS NOT -I repeat- NOT.. “hanging off the bone.” I think you are letting what people say about you get to you which is not good. A FACE LIFT???? …whaaa??? Seriously, this is NOT what you need. If I could be completely honest with you for a second, the only improvements you could use to your face are a little concealer to cover the dark circles under your eyes..and a light dusting of Poudre De Bronzage: It's a Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder by Iman...it's FABULOUS. You only need a light dusting. You want to use it...all over...to even out the concealer, and to give yourself a dazzling glow as a bonus! Also…in another picture that I saw of you a long time ago, it looked like you may have had a little bit of a double chin. It doesn't seem like you still have it in the picture above, but if you do, there's a product on the market called "The Facial Muscle Toning Device." It's sold and manufactured in Canada; and it's just a piece of elastic wrapped in plastic that you place around your head (it's round so you just squeeze your head right in it) and then you open & close you mouth for about 3 minutes each day, for each session. It should be done daily for about 2 maybe 3 weeks. Afterwards you'll notice that the tiny bit of fat underneath your chin will be COMPLETELY gone, at which time you can decrease your sessions to once a week or as needed. I don't know if it'll work for people with large double chins--but you only have a tiny one, so for you I'm sure it'll work just fine. And once you've done all this, go to your dermatologist and get yourself a nice facial/spa treatment; then go to your manicurist, get a pedicure & a manicure..let them massage your feet and legs; and then take your behind home, grab a glass of your favorite wine, draw yourself a long hot bubble bath and listen to you some Luther---trust me girl, you'll be fine. P.s., I doubt if you're a good candidate for plastic surgery. I mean, in your situation, it does not seem to be required. You're seriously overreacting, IMO. |

Tonya, I'm not able to find Poudre De Bronzage by IMAN online. Can you tell me exactly what the bottle says. Is it by IMAN or I-IMAN. I found this bronzer: http://www.imanbeauty.com/cheeks/bronzing_powder.htm As for the facelift, I may not have a total facelift as one surgeon I went to see also said that I don't need a facelift yet. But I do want my face back ON. I don't want to look like anybody else, but I want my symmetry back like this: When your skin is snug tightly to the bone, and you have great cheekbones and features like I do, then you don't need any makeup and you don't have to worry about which camera angles they shoot you from. I want my eyebrow lifted back where it belongs and those are not dark circles under my eyes---they're pocket grooves where the skin is hanging on the cheekbone. I need Blepharoplasty right there. I am a public figure now, constantly being photographed now and will be on television a lot in the future. I get mail and all types of messages from African people saying: "You are representing Africa now and there are very few of us allowed to be seen or heard--you must put on your best face, and especially you Kola, have what it takes to be beautiful." And ONE note even came from IMAN herself.

What the HELL has happened to you, woman? You used to have some very interesting, provocative, and humorous perspectives to share. But now all you seem to know to do is to fart and piss on everything. I'm still interesting, provocative, and humorous - it just doesn't seem that way when the comments are targeted against you - someone who obviously takes them to heart. Since I don't know you personally - my comments shouldn't be taken as such. But whatever gets you thru the night, ABM. I don't really give a fuhk! Do you have ANYTHING to discuss that does not require your running down other people? It's amazing that you never ask that question of your girl KolaKunt. After all, she's the one that started this bullshit. Cussing people out for any minor infraction and carrying on with her senseless vulgar abusive rants. But everything's copacetic when she does it, huh? And it's alright with you for her to keep trashing up this forum with all her whack boardie personae too? Right? Unfortunately, I will no longer sit back and let the insults slide. Sorry. Look. I don’t mind playful banter hither and thither. But I’m a man, darling. I will NOT engage in this incessantly venomous spewing that you and others seem to revel in. Then don't. It's just that simple. I don't really give a fuhk! And though I would regret doing so, if it seemed necessary, I will add YOU to that ignoble category. The balls in YOUR court, playah. You place entirely too much pompous self-importance upon yourself. But besides the fact that you're incessantly sucking Kola ass, you really don't have a heck of a lot going for yourself. You act as though someone who writes such lame ass-kissing sycophantic vomit-inducing praises as "For I'm but a fading dwarf star within your glittering galaxy of greatness." Is someone with whom I would care to associate with. And as usual, you are sadly mistaken. Typically, when you've decided that you're going to ignore someone, wouldn't you just do that? Why issue some weak ultimatum? Get over yourself. I don't really give a fuhk! |

"I'm also going to have a facelift." Uhhhhhh...I'm not following this very well Kola. Why are you having a face lift ? I'm not sure I understand why you are doing this. You mentioned you felt your face was falling off?? Is this from massive weight loss or age? If it's age, it makes no sense because I believe you said you were in your early forties, is that not correct? For a woman of color, especially a black woman, getting a face lift would be extremely unusual. I'm not an expert on this particular subject, but I don't ever recall of a black women having a face lift for reasons of age when she was only in her forties. Am I wrong? If it is weight loss, I don't believe a good doctor would recommend a face lift for that either. Am I wrong again?

Kola if you want a natural face lift without the surgery they have face massagers that can even out the face and reduce sagging. they also have products that get rid of crows feet and other wrinkles on the face jsut by massaging that area and working the face muscles...they were advertizing this on tv not too long ago. to me that would be better than getting a face lift done by surgery especially when the doctor tells you you dont need one. |

Misty thank you so much. AND MY GIRL TONYA--you know how I love you and trust and listen to you. I think you ladies are right, I don't exactly need a Facelift---but perhaps some nips and tucks. Misty, I don't really have wrinkles or lines...as much as I have LOOSE un-defined edges due to stress, worry, weight loss and natural aging. Because I live increasingly in front of cameras and public crowds---there's enormous pressure to present a certain image. There's also the fact that each time I do a network television interview----they deliberately photograph me and light me unflatteringly. On MSNBC I didn't even look like myself! It's so easy for women who are 5'6 and 5'7 to eshew a certain attitude....but try being 6'2 and the immediate magnet to any room you enter just by virtue of HEIGHT ALONE. Try going to the supermarket looking any kind of way when you're that tall and command attention by virtue of coming down the frozen foods aisle. You will find that it does matter when everyone is constantly sizing you up---and especially if you've USED your looks at some point in your younger life as I did. It's simply impossible for me to not care about how I look in the media in comparison to other women. Since I CAN be beautiful and have been before---it's natural that I would want to be, and it can also be a strategic asset to gaining the ear of YOUNG PEOPLE and the like who need my message on other issues. In other words---"beauty" can make you IN and give you clout. I think that's horrible, but it's the way it is. And I could exploit that. NTFS, for the record....several famous black women in my age group have ALL had Facelifts. Janet Jackson Whitney Houston Vanessa Williams Vivica Fox Angela Bassett Iman (well she's way older, but still) Michael Jackson Prince I'm amazed that black folks still haven't picked up on how to SPOT a facelift. It's not that they looked 40. It's that in Hollywood, every woman endeavors to look 21 forever. And black women who are in the media get facelifts MAINLY to stay 20 looking. THIS IS HOW I LOOK RIGHT NOW WITH NO WORK TO MY FACE: Now just imagine with nips and tucks how I could be revitalized. And I DO NOT regret the liposuction at all. Sure--I got sick because they took too much fat at one time. But that was my fault, and I'm still really LOVING my new slimness and having a tiny waist again. The bad thing is that my breasts have FALLEN. They've also enlarged from a 38 C to 40 double D. But they're hanging. POOR ABM. We've just taken over his thread. Not that he'll care, but still...

I keep telling people---just because I'm from Africa doesn't mean I'm an "earth mother". No, I'm a soldier and a competitor. I believe that being beautiful could help me get POWER.

It's that in Hollywood, every woman endeavors to look 21 forever. Do you mean this literally or figuratively? If literally - does this mean that you are now the spokeswoman for all the other women in Hollywood? And do you think you're in "Hollywood?" Because you're not. Why not aspire to look like a 12-year-old. That makes about as much sense, doesn't it? You really are brainwashed and you should try to come back to reality posthaste. This sort of mentality can be harmful to others. And as an activist who stands for Black empowerment (or whatever your trip is), you should also fight against sexism and ageism - but I suppose that concept is too complex for you to comprehend. And I mean, I do plan to start having a love life again WITHOUT Tom-Trojan. Thanks for confirming what we already know - that you do not have a LIFE!!! Which is why you continue to trash this forum with your KolaKlones. I believe that being beautiful could help me get POWER. Kola Spoof. Real POWER is achieved thru brains. And real beauty starts from within. Outer beauty should be maintained - not regained - and sadly, it's evident that you have let yourself go in a major way. In any case, it's too late for you. Just accept the fact that you're fugly and work with what you have.

Tonya, Sounds like you REALLY know your beauty regimen. I think you and Moonsigns should tawk. Kola and I have debated the merits of her getting plastic surgery ad nauseum. But I empathize with what she says about how unapologetically SHALLOW the media and entertainment worlds can be. The imagery of female celebrity has been so doctored up that those few women who do NOT get any work done can appear old and haggard by comparison. So I've pretty much resigned to hoping that after Kola get's shellacked and simonized that I can still frickin' RECOGNIZE her. Urban_scribe, I really appreciate your interests in what we’re doing. But to avoid embarrassing myself I’m going to have to ask you to wait until my wife and I have things on firm, settle grounding. As soon as things are where we think they should be, I surely will provide some contact info for you and anyone else who’s interested. Nolanfane, I agree with Mzuri where she says I should have ignored her. And that is what I’ll do. Moonsigns, Glad you found my (fairly mundane) life to be interesting. Next time I’m clipping my toe nails, I’ll post a pic of the shavings here for you to marvel at. K? Seriously...Thanks! Kola, Kola: "POOR ABM. We've just taken over his thread." Hahahahaha!!! Chile. Why would I care about that? Especially since I am intrigued by your discussion with Tonya’s and Misty’s beauty tips and maintenance. But GOD’s gone git you for taddling on Angela Bassett having had plastic surgery. I mean, logically, I about KNOW she has some done, even without your telling it. But still...dats my baby! |

ABM, HAha!!! Your wit is like twighlight before a rainbow, King. I will look exactly like Kola Boof----only rested and younger. Trust when I say that I only want to exploit any and everything that will empower and make "marketable" my very confrontational and controvertial brand of "ART". I have something very painful and political to say to the world....and as Gloria Steinem said circa 1971. It didn't hurt that she looked like a Playboy Bunny (and in fact, started out as one). I can't imagine why anyone here wouldn't think TRUTHFULLY about what I'm saying. No one can claim that Kola Boof is a bitter old dyke because she can't a get a man---and no one has been able to silence my feminism with such. And I have far more enemies than most.

Kola, I agree that looking a certain way can help you A LOT with what you're trying. But be careful that you don't become so consumed by your appearance that you lose sight of what you're REALLY all about. Sure it seems right now that that could never happen. But celebrity and fame can be be all-consuming. And it seems as though getting plastic surgery can become somewhat addictive. Instead of simply living with your quirks, it becomes easier and easier to pick yourself a part. Bit by bit. Until there's very LITTLE of the real you left. GOD I'm so glad I am a man. |

It's amazing what has been done to the perception of the human esthetic. I mean. We KNOW all the chicks (and probably at least half) in Hollywood has had some face and body work done. And we even make fun of it. YET...we'd still prefer a woman look like she's constantly walking through a wind tunnel than we would to see her with her own natural, GOD-given smile lines and crowfeet. We'd KNOW chick's got liquid plastic in those 38D boobies. Yet we'd still prefer that to her natural, less perky 34B. It kinda makes you wonder what the frock we will look like...and have surgically attached to our bodies...a couple generations from now. |

All true ABM. Except my 40 double D's are full of FAT TISSUE and no liquid plastic. I would love it except that my waist is now "surgically" unrealistic and my ass (though very nice) is out of proportion with the big tits. SO....hate to tell you this (laughing) But I may need surgery. HA HA!!!!! Yep--a breast lift and "tissue removal" to get them back to 38 C (which is the size in most of the photos you've seen). Then again, I might leave them hanging and just use BRA tricks...but the problem with a bra is that it pulls them up so high, they look even bigger---and now that I'm a size 4----it can really be hard (impossible) to look in proportion. In other words, GOD intended for me to get fat after 40. But at 6'2 it's very uncomfortable being STOCKY (as I was) and overly volumptuous. I just have more energy and self-confidence when I'm thin. And my "face" is ON. LOOOOOOOOOOL. Daddy, I used to LOVE talking to you about this. And Nolan Fane---I only call ABM "daddy" on this board, so don't ask.

Kola, I'm a little confuse. Is your tits now too big for your a$$? And if that's the case, are you going to have some a$$ enhancement work done? I enjoy talking with you about this stuff too. It helps to me realize how in some ways it's much easier to be a man. |

Yeah, ABM my breasts are too big and I have that look WHITE WOMEN are notorious for when they've got "fake silicone" breasts and a flat pancake ass---only my ass isn't flat, it's about EXACTLY like the photo a certain Tazmanian Monster keeps posting--but with the HUGE knockers it looks out of proportion and I've always hated that Pam Anderson, Anna Nicole look where you see them from the backside and wince.

NTFS, for the record....several famous black women in my age group have ALL had Facelifts. Janet Jackson Whitney Houston Vanessa Williams Vivica Fox Angela Bassett Iman (well she's way older, but still) Wow! Thanks for the info. I knew nothing about this. But then again I really don’t follow nor have any interest in what so-called celebrities or Hollywood stars do in their personal lives. I must say I’m surprised to learn of this. Not that it matters because I feel a person has the right to do what they want in order to feel better about themselves. Michael Jackson Prince Everyone knows about the numerous failed surgeries that have reduced Michael Jackson’s face to that of a Jason minus the hockey mask. But I didn’t know about Prince. Again, thanks for the info.

I didn't know about Angela, Prince , and Vivica.... I'm still somewhat dubious....because Angela looks really natural....Vivica looks natural (surgical-wise, anyways) with just too much makeup. Well, now I know. I'm out for real, now....gotta pack and get to the airport. |

You got to be kidding about Vivica. That chick is totally surgical looking. Fake titties, fake legs, face twisted every which way. She look good though.

Welcome back, Kola! I do not unilaterally oppose plastic surgery. I know you will be very careful about your choices though. I'd have to ask my husband, but I do not think there is a professional organization made up of African American plastic surgeons. I did find this doctor who I think is in your area when I did a quick googlesearch to find out for sure: Dr. Pearlman Hicks-- http://www.face-doctor.com/black_plastic_surgeon.html (A buddy of my husband's has a booming practice in the D.C. area if you're interested in travelling!) You can, though, contact the association of Black MD's, National Medical Association http://www.nmanet.org/ to get referrals. It is not that I think you should automatically go with a Black surgeon. But I do think Black surgeons would be more likely to be sensitive to giving you features that are culturally consonant and also to be better versed in issues such as keloids that are a particular danger in Black folks. |

Yvettep, You make an EXCELLENT point about Kola considering utilizing the services of a BLACK plastic surgeon. And thanks for the compliments. Answering those questions was for me kinda weird...but FUN. |

Hi Yvette, thank you. When you get a face lift--they don't give you "Features". NOTHING about my face or how I look is going to be changed. If you look at Angela Bassett, Whitney Houston, Vanessa Williams or Iman--they still look exactly like themselves. The facial skin and muscles under the skin are un-attached surgically and then re-attached in the positions they were before aging loosened them. I probably will not have an entire facelift---but like Halle Berry will just have nips and tucks (things tightened back up). It amazes me how Black people really believe that Black celebrities older than 35 just look 22 naturally...forever. It's not natural and it's not "good genes"--that's bullshit. Everybody from Halle to Diahann Carroll to Diana Ross to Natalie Cole have nips and tucks or more invasive procedures as they age---to retain a LOOK that the public is familiar with. In my case...I have no wrinkles (very gorgeous skin) so people don't see what I'm complaining about. But I do have a hanging "brow", deep grooves under the eyes where there should be fatty tissue, the connective muscle attachment under the eyes is hanging so that the cheekbone skin under the eye is hanging. Excess flesh around the entire face takes away from my symmetry and mutes my features---there is a lack of definition in my features (which is normal at 38-40), but now that I'm required to be on t.v. for the first time in my life, I don't like not having my face ON--especially when every other woman has her face done. I am also very tall and East African, so I have an elongated face and when it hangs, it can give me a masculine pall that I don't like (at least it looks masculine to westerners, who despise black women's faces in general). My neck is also undefined. I won't be going to a black plastic surgeon. I've seen the very best work done on black skin by KOREAN doctors. The Asians in general can make you look as though a scalpel never touched you--their work is breathtakingly natural! NO ONE takes plastic surgery as seriously as they do. |

"......better versed in issues such as keloids that are a particular danger in Black folks." Excellent point. In fact, that (keloids) is the major reason blacks should be very careful about facial surgery. It's one thing to get a keloid on your hands, back, chest, stomach, etc. But it's a total different ball game when you get them in your face. I'm very curious about blacks, facial surgery and keloids. Info or personal experiences anyone....?

My skin doesn't Keloid so it's not an issue for me---and let us not forget that only about 5% of Blacks Keloid. That's HIGH compared to other groups, but it's not a general thing with black people folks.

Keloids can be very vexing when it comes to ear piercing, NTFS. I have seen women with huge knots on their earlobes due to how keloids became a factor in the healing of the holes. |

And for myself ABM...I just don't like the European look of big tits and flat ass. My ass is NOWAYS flat, but with the huge knockers in a bra, the proportion makes it look that way. If I get a breast lift have the excess fat removed from my tits, then I will look proportioned again. But alas....it's more surgery to fight the effects of age. I already had the fat around my waistline removed. I guess I shouldn't talk so openly about it. I see Americans hate you when you talk about anything out in the open.

"My skin doesn't Keloid so it's not an issue for me......" Then you are truly blessed! "---and let us not forget that only about 5% of Blacks Keloid. That's HIGH compared to other groups, but it's not a general thing with black people folks." Are you sure about that? Only 5% of blacks have the keloid gene? I can't refute that because I have no data or info to do so but if that is true, it is much, much smaller than I believed. I thought it was a much larger percentage. I know I have the keloid gene. I have keloids from injuries I got from playing football, from getting cut when I was young and I have two nasty scars on both my knees from serious knee surgery when I was in the military. I guess I'm in that unfortunate 5%. "Keloids can be very vexing when it comes to ear piercing, NTFS. I have seen women with huge knots on their earlobes due to how keloids became a factor in the healing of the holes." Ya got that right! I have seen this many times before. That is why I was never interested in getting my ears pierced. But then again, I'm not into jewelry and such. I wear no rings and have no bling bling to sport. I have one gold chain that my mom gave my for Christmas. That is the only jewelry I have. No Mr. T here!

”Ntfs, why are you talking to me?” Because you posted on an open forum…..? ”I thought you despised me and everything I stood for along with your friends? ” Kola, I don’t despise you or anyone else on this board. There are a few posters who I greatly disagree with but I don’t subscribe to hatred. It’s too expensive and counter productive my dear. ”I recall quite a few posts where you sat in agreement with them----on negative things about me. ” Uhhhhhhhh…..I don’t think so. You have made numerous comments that I totally disagree with but I have never out right attacked you nor have I personally ever called you any names. If you have noticed, when you engage in your ongoing knife fights and brawls with some members, I stay clear of those scuffles. With all the continuous calling you ugly names, questioning you as a spoofer with multiple alias, mocking your looks, calling you a liar, etc, etc…, I have never personally contributed to any of that. ”I don't see why you would bother to speak since you have so little respect for me. ” I don’t recall ever disrespecting you. Perhaps you can refresh my memory with a post where I criticized, instigated, mocked or called you vicious names. Once again, if you have noticed, every time you have commented about the problems and difficulties of single black mothers, I WAS THERE TO BACK YOU UP AND OPENLY SUPPORT THE VALDITY OF YOUR COMMENTARY –EVERY TIME! I know you have many detractors after you, but I have not been part of the lynch mob. Sorry.
