I'm just curious - no biggie - about what a "chocolate" complexioned person looks like. Angie Stone?
Also, I'm curious as to why black Americans like Usher, Gabrielle Union, Mary J, Eve and so on are defined as "dark skinned" black people. If those people are dark then what Wesley Snipes and Alek Wek?
What does "brownskinned" mean and how is that different from "chocolate"?
I would honestly consider Jill Scott, Eve and so on to be quite light skinned.
What about Sanaa Lathan?
Foxy Brown is chocolate, right?
In person I am somewhere around the same complexion as Sanaa Lathan and in Nigeria that is considered light skinned. Honestly! It is not considered at all dark.
No big deal I am just curious about this stuff as people use these phrases all of the time and I don't really quite understand them.
Also, what about fine ass Denzel?

You're an African dumb ass. Yoll always mean something when you say "black" person and "dark skint" person. Shit gets confusing because where yoll come from most people are really black with African face features.
To an African American anybody brown is dark skint.

Personally I am not of the complexion where anybody would laugh at me for being "too dark" and neither would they get at me for being "too light". It actually seems a quite comfortable place to be |

I'm not as dark as Wesley Snipes.
And I was trying to take up for dark skint sistas more than anything.
A black man like me don't have any problems with being dark because at 6'15 216 pounds all the ladies of all races are yanking my chain.
And yes we all know your colorstruck ass is not "dark", you make a point of telling us every other thread ugly bitch.

dark skin is relative according to the culture youre from.
you have alot of latinos of african decent who would consider halle berry brown skinned instead of light..ive seen them do this...but in america we would see halle as light skinned.
I guess some african tribes who are extreemely dark would consider garbielle union brown instead of dark brown. |

Brown/Medium tone: Nia Long, Sanaa, Lil Kim
Dark: Lauryn, maybe Foxy, Wesley, Alek

i also know whites who never saw beyonce as light skinnned until i mentioned to them that she was light...LOL. Alot of them think queen latifah is dark skinned.
so again darkness and lightness are relative.
the romans use to even be called BLACK by white travelers and writers who wrote about them during antiquity simply because their skin was darker than most other whites. It wasnt that they were black but the term black during antiquity was used to refer to anyones skin that had even the slightest tint to it. |

i agree wiht this, the only thing is i would include labels like light brown and dark brown (for people like gabrielle union and tatyana ali) in there too but to me your classifications are pretty accurate. |
