Pedophiles occupying positions of power, legislating and deciding on our fates everyday.

What I want to know is whether and when they're going to do an investigation to see whether Foley did MORE than just talk dirty to kids.
Because the STUFF they caught him saying suggests that he has done a LOT more than text messaging and emailing. |

I think the excuse this guy is trying to make is absurd. I have a lot of respect psychology and mental illnesses, but how has his being an alcoholic made him a pedophile? ...I mean really?

I have been following this sorry spectacle and, from the interviews I have seen him give he isn't telling anybody anything new.

I missed the interviews too except for a small part of 60 minutes. I found his charge that Henry Kissinger is one of the people running this war (behind the scenes) quite revealing...since this war is becoming eerily similar to Vietnam. Christopher Hitchens describes Kissinger as a war criminal who actually wanted to prolong Vietnam. Sounds familiar? We’re never getting out of Iraq. And get used to the torture because that's not going away either! LOL! I agree though: why now for Woodward---why the abrupt departure from the Bush SPINmill? |

well actually if mark foley DID do what he is accused of he is NOT a pedophile.
the correct term is EHBOPHILE or HEBOPHILE.
pedophiles are attracted emotionally and sexually to PRE-PUBESCENT children.
HEBOPHILES are emotionally attracted to teenagers.
there are some people who are very attracted to teenagers, it DOES NOT mean they are PEDOPHILES.
an adult who is sexually attracted to teens is NOT a pedophile. |

I know y'all have heard the latest about this creep supposedly checking himself into rehab because he claims to be an alcoholic - and to top it off he now claims (thru a spokesperson) that he was sexually abused by a priest. As far as I'm concerned that dog won't hunt.
I DEMAND BACKGROUND CHECKS (PSYCHOLOGICAL, BEHAVIORAL, FINANCIAL, AND CRIMINAL) OF ALL PUBLIC AND GOVT OFFICIALS!!!

I do not see it as a matter of "criminal"--necessarily. Possibly under sexual harassment guidelines. But definitely an abuse of power, and possibly cover-ups on many fronts--not just by him. |

but for the sake of "correct information", i thought id clarify a bit.
its seems like people are quick to scream "PEDOPHILE, PEDOPHILE", in cases where it may not be warranted. |

Actually, they're doing so right now as we write and read. The FBI is really ratchting up the heat on this investigation. But where will it all end is another story. They can only procecute him if he had physical contact with those boys. Racy e-mails and text messages is not a crime in itself.

Ya know, I'm sure he probably did at some point in his life. I wouldn't be surprised if they unearthed a victim of his young boy desires. His lawyer said Foley admitted being gay. Being gay is not against the law (for the most part) but having sex with under age boys is. It will be interesting to see how this plays itself out. The Speaker of the House and other high ranking Republicans are denying they knew anything about Foleys behavior. I don't believe that. Not for one second. They knew and they gaffed it off. But the Democrats would have done the same. Don't think they wouldn't.

It seems to me if he's only attempted to seduce the boy(s) into some sexual activity, he's STILL committed a crime(s). Because, really, how would that substantially differ from the FBI stinging and nabbing wannabee child molesters via the web?

There does NOT need to be actual physical contact for there to be a crime. Simply sending a lewd e-mail to a minor is a crime in and of itself. Not to mention contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Enticement of a minor. Misuse of public office. On-the-job sexual harrassment. Possible charges if the online communications were interstate. This dumbdumb could be in some very deep kimchee. |
