And at the risk of being repetitive, I was around when all of this was going on. Remember it well. And for those who wonder, no, I wasn't around during either the Civil War or Word War I. LMAO. |

"eyes on the prize", is a great series.
i remember my father making me watch it when i was younger. of course back then i didn't want to watch it. but im glad now that my father had me watch it. it shows what our people had to go through (and are still going through) in the struggle for freedom.
i think ALL black school age children should see this series. of course no program can really capture just how serious the struggle was, and is.
but "eyes of the prize" comes close. |

There were a lot of full blacks back then. And as much as Lil_ze rails against and despises dark skinned black women with natural hair I couldn't imagine him sympathizing with what they went through back then any more then he does now. They'd all be too ugly for him to relate to so in his eyes they deserve to be oppressed. The only thing he learned from watching that program is how to mimic the Klansman in it.

I do believe you are an imposter, especially if you claim not to know what natural black hair is. -Because none of the women in those pictures have it. Full blacks have dark complexions and the natural hair textures found in a nappy afro. I watched it last night and all I can say is DAMN! I saw it back in the 90s (the entire series) and I am just as awestruck as I was then. Those bruhs and sistas were REBELS. Had it not been for Black American, there would be NO civil rights for anyone because they were for real in daily combat with racist pieces of dog crap.

What's with this "back then" reference? The civil rights movement isn't ancient history. As I said, I was around when all of the demonstrations and picket lines and sit-ins and freedom rides were going on and I was in my late 20s. Black people looked the same back then as they do now. They came in all colors and either wore their hair natural or "got it done". |

Hawaiians were also a historical mix of escaped African slaves and Asians, who due to the migration of Europeans and intermixing no longer exhibit pure African characteristics such as kinky hair or very dark complexions. Ethiopians have been enslaved by Indians and have also mixed with them.
And one thing these mixed races tend to have in common is the utmost contempt for those manifesting their African roots. -Especially if they are females. O/T - Shemika, there's something you write that bugs me - you confuse THEN with THAN - you do this a lot in your posts. Nothing personal; it's just a peeve of mine, is all. Perhaps the following will be of some benefit to you.
Then means: following; next in order, i.e., I went to the market THEN I picked up the dry cleaning.
Than means: you're making a comparison, i.e., I think Law and Order Criminal Intent is a better show THAN CSI.
Like I said, nothing personal. This is not an attack or anything to condescend or discredit you. It's just one of the things that bothers me like people who write 'alright; instead of 'all right'. But if it's alright with you, it's all right with me - since both are now accepted spellings. But I can usually guesstimate how old a person is based on whether they spell 'alright' or 'all right'. People under 30 tend to use the former. Anyhowway, carry on. |
