Let's try to identify the problem between Black men & women on this forum (or in this country) and discuss exactly what is it, that has us at war with each other.
What can Black women do to become less bitter?
If Black women were to work on their resentment and anger towards Black men, would you consider dating us more often (that's if you don't)?
What can Black men do to become less "self hating"?

You are very sweet to try to call a truce. I think the black women's "bitterness" is because of black men chasing after white women and disrespecting black women. So it is a vicious circle. The black men diss black women and treat white women like they are a higher prize. The black women get bitter. The black men then complain that black women are too bitter and start idealizing white women even more.
On the whole, black women are incredible and loyal being. So many of them so want a black man that they don't date at all rather than date a man who is not black. Do the black men at least appreciate the loyalty? No! They jeer and claim that the reason those loyal black women don't date outside the race is because non-black men dont' want them. They actually refuse to believe that men of any other race would want black women. They are so disrespectful to their mamas. I think the solution for those black women who would like a black man is to go for African and Caribbean men. Haitian men, Senegalese men, Ghanaian men, Jamaican men: they all seem able to enjoy being with black women and don't seem to have that strange drive to put black women down. Plus those men are fine  |

black men and women are NOT at war with each other.
when you say "black men and women", who are you speaking of? the black men and women in jamiaca, the virgin islands, equador, columbia, cuba, the dominican republic, haiti, brazil, the bahamahas, barbados, etc?
or just the "black men and women" in the united states? what about the black men and women who are children of foriegn born parents/ are they at war with each other?
black men and women in the us are not at war with each other. what you have are a handful of black men and women who have personal issues that translate in to them "thinking" that black men and women are somehow at "war" with each other. this is just not the case.

• How bad is the situation? ie what is the proportion of black men who prefer white/ white looking/ light black women.
• Also, are black women generally more “loyal” to black men than the other way round or is this just a myth?

I'm sorry that you feel it's negative towards black men - I certainly don't want to be considered to be bashing black men...all I can say is as a black woman, I am naturally interested in exploring the impact of gendered racism on the black female in relation to black male-female relationships from time to time. I always emphasize that I am not saying all black men practice gendered racism. Also, I am not claiming that either black men or black women have a monopoly on suffering from racism, but I hope that some brothers (particularly if they have daughters lol) will be sympathetic/ supportive when discussing this important issue which affects black women and ultimately the black community.
To reiterate, I am not trying to minimize the suffering of black men - however, that doesn't mean that I cannot highlight the issue of gendered racism in the black community - these kinds of issues need to be discussed because they have an impact on the self esteem of black women which ultimately affects the black comunity...I feel that any black man who is concerned about the black community should be concerned about issues which affect black women. I frequently point out on my blog that I am well aware that there are many wonderful black men out there.
I welcome comments from black men who support the blog's philosophy ie black-on-black love - keep it clean though.

Racialrealist I will post a comment there some time. I've noticed that a lot of black men feel socially validated and generally better about themselves if they have a white woman (ANY white woman) at their side. The sentiment seems to be that if a white woman wants to be with them, they can't be this despicable, crime-committing loser that society has told them time and again that they are. There are many black men who would automatically prefer to be with somebody who looked like Roseanne Barr over somebody who looked like Naomi Campbell.
As for black women, I find that a lot of us have NOT felt socially validated when we date white men. Instead we've felt wrong for not holding out for a black guy and we've seen the evil looks black men give us when we walk hand-in-hand with a handsome white man. Very few black women would choose a white man who looked like, say, Tony Soprano over a black men who looked like Tyrese. |

I respect you for posting this. The reason myself and some of the other sisters have been getting so angry on this board is because of some of the disgusting things and images that Ntfs and Lil_ze have posted. I'm speechless at the kinds of things that are acceptable on this board - it's so ugly - I would have thought that those kinds of comments would be automatically deleted. |

As expected, you weave and bob and dodge and run away. YOU PROVIDE NOTHING TO SUPPORT YOUR ACCUSATIONS –NOTHING! And as far as me using profanity, that is something I generally don’t do.
