The leader of the American Muslim organisation Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan, says he is seriously ill.
In an open letter to members, the 73-year-old said he was suffering pain like that he had felt in 1998 when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He requested that his followers carry on with his movement after his death.
He supports African-Americans having their own nation and is regarded as one of the most controversial and charismatic African-Americans alive.
He has also been accused of being an anti-Semite.
He revealed his health problems in a letter on Friday to Nation of Islam members in its newspaper, the Final Call, in which he compared his health problems to those of Fidel Castro.

Another thing that could cause Louis or anyone for that matter to become seriously ill is to come anywhere near my dripping twat. |

I'm afraid I see a bleak future ahead for NOI should Farrakhan past away in the near future or should his failing health prevent him from carrying out his leadership duties. |

Maybe you should join up. Give 'em some strength. Haw.
It isn't weak. It's basically a one man show. If it wasn't for him it wouldn't be a strong as it was. This is what happens when you have mostly charismatic leadership and your group is so strict that the masses of people you should pull from will not join. This was pointed out to me years ago. Farrakhan come to St. Louis--you'd have 10,000 people there, all sorts of dignitaries on the podium.
The local Minister (I don't even know his name) speak--you'd have NOI members.
One of those things. I suspect the NOI will fragment and fall into a number of loosely affiliated organizations. The Hebrew Israelites, Moorish Science Temple, and other groups were already poaching on their territory. |

I'll take that as a compliment but the NOI is a little too strict for me. I'm relatively modest in my dress, but I can't do that whole cover up your head thing. And I can't get with the no make-up as I like to gussy it up and be the bombshell. And I certainly wouldn't want to completely submit to a man. Just can't do it.
But I have the utmost respect for the organization and their philosophy, particularly in making the Black man be more responsible. Not that he wasn't already, but there is room for improvement. |

NOI Muslims wear make up. Other Muslims don't. Well, here in Atlanta anyways.
I've always loved them. I've never seen children as well-behaved and respectful as their children are. NEVER. I've never seen teenaged boys as respectful and PROTECTIVE of teenaged girls as their boys are.
They're doing something right. |

When Farrakhan passes, the NOI will fade just any other cult that looses it's one and only leader. |
