Tits on a Book by Peter Grumbine Just before the 5-year anniversary of 9/11, a woman plugged by Osama Bin Laden plugs her tell-all memoir, shows tits. August 23rd, 2006 • 8:29 PM In an article in Harper’s magazine conveniently timed to coincide with the five-year anniversary of 9/11, writer, poet, and self-proclaimed “womanist” Kola Boof has expanded on her claim that she was involved in a six-month long, non-consensual relationship with Osama Bin Laden, who she says often gushed about his love for Whitney Houston, forced Boof to dance naked for him, and repeatedly raped her—which at least explains the poetry. Bin Laden’s obsession with Whitney Houston is hilarious. It immediately conjures images of a Susan Sarandon-like Osama, fresh from the shower, covered only by a towel wrapped around his body—barely stretched to cover both his shriveled penis and purple nipples, with another towel on his head (settle down, it’s to dry his flowing locks) as he embraces himself and rhythmically prances around his bath-cave, vocally assaulting his beard brush as he belts out, I want to dance with somebody! With somebody who loves me! Somebody Whooooo! Somebody Whoooooo! If I caught one of my friends singing along to Whitney Houston, I’d rip out their larynx, but this is different. Osama doesn’t just like Whitney Houston, he loves her—this despite believing that all music is evil. (I would agree with that sentiment as well if all I ever heard was The Bodyguard soundtrack. Last week I heard just 30 seconds of “Greatest Love of All,” and I put a Fatwa on Coast 103.5.) Despite his theological hatred for all music in general, Bin Laden still hearts Whitney. According to his teachings, Osama could burn in hell for listening to or even looking at pictures of Whitney Houston, but he still does—now that’s a real fucking fan. (And you thought you were being a badass by wearing your Margaritaville t-shirt to work on casual Fridays. Suck it, Parrothead.) They say love is blind, but perhaps being on the run, Osama hasn’t had time to sit down and watch the episode of Being Bobby Brown where Bobby details how he had to dig “doodie bubbles” of hardened turd out of Whitney’s ass when she was constipated from rampant prescription painkiller abuse. Love may be deaf, dumb, and blind, but if it has any tactile senses left, I think having to pick shit out of Whitney Houston’s impacted colon might finally kill it. As you probably guessed, Bin Laden wants Bobby Brown murdered, and according to Boof, he actually talked about doing it…but who hasn’t? Threatening to kill Bobby Brown is like complaining about traffic—after a while it just becomes white noise. But why waste the time and energy? If the booze doesn’t kill him soon, someone very close to him will. Bobby Brown is like Flava-Flav with a hole in his pocket. He’s useless baggage with broken wheels that always spin in the wrong directions. Once Bin Laden offed Bobby Brown, he planned to arrange a private meeting between himself and Houston during which he could shower her with gifts and, presumably, semen. This may sound unrealistic or far-fetched, but as it turns out, Bin Laden actually has some very important friends here in the States. In fact, one of his close family friends was even president of the whole country once! So now that we know a little more about Osama Bin Laden, what about Kola Boof? Who is she and how did she come to be Bin Laden’s sex slave? As mentioned before, Boof calls herself a writer, poet, and “womanist”—each title is exponentially more useless than the last on a business card. Boof was born in Sudan and lived there briefly until her parents were murdered before her own eyes. Boof’s Egyptian grandmother put her up for adoption because she feared her skin was too dark. Kola was then adopted by an Ethiopian family in England, who later returned her because they believed she was a witch. Finally, Boof was adopted by a poor African-American family from a part of Washington D.C. that is probably more like Liberia than Virginia. Boof doesn’t fully explain how exactly she went from living with an American family to being a sex slave to the most wanted man in the world, but one can only assume it was probably a culmination of several bad decisions and perhaps a need to please her dead father. I know that doesn’t really make sense, but whenever a woman is fucked in the head, you can usually blame her dad. It’s not that hard to imagine. Much like an emotionally frail freshman at FSU whose father preferred working late at the office or hitting the golf course to spending time with her, Boof likes to show her tits in public. Some things are just universal. The only difference is Boof didn’t flash her tits for a t-shirt or trucker hat, she did it to sell books—oh, and there’s some feminist thing about an earth-born goddess or some shit like that too—but come on, tits on a book cover? Excuse me, make that good tits. Good tits on a book cover are clearly just there to move units. If you want to make some kind of feminist point about a woman’s strength and power, put some of those 60 year-old, knee-warmer tire swings that have been sucked dry by four generations on there. That’s Mother Earth. When asked about Boof posing topless, her former dress designer, Dooby Doo (no shit—that’s his name), stated: “Her breasts are real, natural, 100% God-given and most definitely spectacular, so she wants to show them off, the little bitch.” So, as established, they are nice tits, but that’s not supposed to be her point. The point is Boof has created an almost uncriticizable character from which to write and market her work. It’s hard to professionally question or even politely examine the work and statements of a woman who comes out of the gate saying she was serially raped and abused by arguably one the most morally devoid men on earth. Could you imagine speaking with Kola Boof at a cocktail party when she proclaims, “the black woman is the meteor that is coming to this earth?” You would barely be able to wipe the snot off your upper lip as you choke on a sip of beer and struggle for a breath of air to form words to mock her, just as your friend leans over to you and whispers, “her genitals were mutilated during ritualistic female circumcision.” “Ohhhh,” you’d say. While courting the continental African lesbian community, Boof said, “I’m not a lesbian or bisexual…but if I could’ve been I would’ve been. I would love to be free from my obsession with men. I would have chosen being a lesbian if I could have chosen it.” As a man, when you hear a woman say something like that, you don’t know what to do. Should you give her a hug and an Ani Difranco tape with a mirror that says “Beautiful” on it, or should you call up your buddy Sean who has a thing for emotionally bruised women? Boof’s book Long Train to the Redeeming Sin is basically The Polar Express with more rape and genocide. It’s “an underground cult classic amongst African-American women,” according to her webpage, which is a coded way of saying it sold about twelve copies. So, logically, the pressure was on for her to crank out a hit—or at least something that would reach upwards of twenty people. This is where Boof’s true genius finally comes out. (I knew she was meant to be more than a rape victim!) You can write whatever you want about Bin Laden with no fear of repercussions (other than the odd Fatwa, which at this point are so common and thoroughly saturating the world that they are devaluing faster than Mexican currency—just ask Salman Rushdie, who’s even listed in the Yellow Pages now). No one dares question Kola Boof’s story, and it’s safe to say Bin Laden will never file a libel or slander lawsuit to prevent publishing or to recover any losses. Why? Because he’s friggin’ Bin Laden, he doesn’t file lawsuits. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, PBG, to answer the second part of your rant: what bothers me about Kola is the way she puts down Black Americans. This is an African women whose own flesh and blood DIDN'T want her. Yet, Black Americans, the very Black Americans she condescends every chance she gets, took her in - WHEN HER OWN FAMILY WOULDN'T. They (Black Americans) raised her, they loved her, they fed her, they clothed her, they nurtured her, they protected her. Another thing that bothers me about the reviews of her work, some of which I've read, is the focus is ALWAYS on her relationship with bin Laden. The focus is always on her sexcapades. If I were Kola, I'd be highly insulted that I am a media curiosity simply because I had a past relationship with the most wanted man in the world who's accused of terrorism and crimes against humanity and the media has painted me as his whore. If she'd omitted the part about bin Laden, removed all the sex, do you think anyone would give two shits about her book? She's a self-proclaimed "Womanist". Inyaniso, if you check the dates of my previous posts, you'll note that I haven't posted on this forum for about two months. I went away on three-weeks vacation during the summer, became very ill during my last few days on what was overall a very pleasant vacation, then returned to the States and it took me some time to fully recuperate. So, if you really examine my postings on this forum, you'll see that I have indeed added my 2 cent to a range of topics started by a number of members here - well before Kola and I locked horns. This, in fact, is the FIRST thread that I've EVER posted about Kola - not our first debate. But the first thread that I've ever started regarding her. I did so because someone else (I can't remember who) started a thread about Kam Williams reviewing her book. I felt like showing the other side of the coin. Kola's representing herself as a PUBLIC PERSONALITY so, it's only fair. Suffice it to say, Inyaniso, you are wrong about my posting habits. So, I'll give you the same advice I gave PBG, don't take my word for it, pull my posts and you'll see for yourself. Meanwhile, please refrain from making false generalizations that you can't back-up. As far as Colonialism and Imperialism are concerned, BLACK AFRICANS had their hands deep in the cookie jar, too. So, if we're going to start pointing fingers and laying blame for the conditions that Black Americans live under, let's get to the root of the problem. White Europeans exploited Africa and Black Africans were their very congenial accomplices. White Europeans, I blame them and I don't blame them for what they've done to us (Black Americans). I blame them because today we (Blacks) remain devastated as a result of their subhuman actions against us. I don't blame them because they were out to build their empires, to make their nations stronger, wealthier and more powerful - at any cost. Is that morally wrong - absolutely. At the same time it is self-preservation. They did what they had to do to preserve themselves for generations to come. So this is where I feel the bulk of the blame lies with Black Africans. Unlike White Europeans, Black Africans did not preserve themselves for generations to come. They were shortsighted. They sold their countrymen, their kin, for their own personal gain and failed to look at the big picture and realize the impact their selfish actions would have on future generations of Blacks. I give you this analogy: You see two children drowning in the ocean. One of the children is yours, the other child is unknown to you. Who do you save? Your child, of course. Ideally, you'd like to save both. But if you can ONLY save one, you'll make damn certain it's YOUR child - that's self-preservation. What White Europeans did was save their children. I can't, in good consciousness, fault them for that. Black Africans DID NOT save their children. I do fault them for that. If that makes me whatever you want to call me, so be it! History speaks for itself. So do I give a fuck about what's going on in Africa - N-O. I don't give a shit about what's going on in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Austrailia, South America, Canada, Mexico, etc. I'm aware of what's going on in the world because I try to stay abreast of global current events but, I live in NY. Most of the time I'm mellowed out but when I come to the board and I start reading some of these threads it's like I trip out, - like I shift into another dimension - another reality where aliens occupy the bodies of clones.
