(Yes, I know, another skin color post. But realize that I'm genuinely interested in the below phenomenon)
Look at the child. Seal is the supposed father and Heidi the supposed mother. What I can't believe is how vaniliated the child's skin is. It's practically only 1 or 2 deviations away from its mother's skin color. It's shocking considering the fact the Seal has deep, chocolate skin. Hell, Heidi having a baby with someone with less chocolosity would typically produce a baby in that skin color range. But considering that Seal has a lot of chocolosity, is it possible that Seal's afri factor was weaker than Heidi's euro factor? It seems right now that Seal only gave the baby a slight tan and a rounder face. Eh..Perhaps I am late but is this generally how Eurafrican(black/white) children turn out?!  (yes I know I need to get out more)

Thandie's daughter is really cute! I've seen half-white/half-African people turn out nearly white (for example, my own cousins) and also turn out looking black.
I don't consider Seal to be chocolate. He's an ebony man, wayyyy darker than chocolate. But anyway his darkness does not necessarily translate to his offspring's skin tone. For example, my father is very black like Seal whereas my mother is quite a bit lighter. I came out the EXACT color of my mother. |

What the fuck makes Thandie's daughter cute? I looked at the brat and ain't a damn thing cute about her. Typical looking, mixed, baby shit colored brat. I bet if her skin was 4 shades darker you wouldn't find her ugly ass so damn cute.

I've now seen about 10 pictures of Seal's baby and I don't understand why the child has none of his facial features??
I also agree that a man that dark with nappy hair genes and African nose and mouth is not likely to be totally overruled like this. I could believe the coloring--but the hair!?
I have heard many people claim Seal did a "Michael Jackson" because he didn't want a baby that looks like him, but I find that hard to believe. Then again, I understand that Seal's region in Nigeria is the largest user of Skin Bleaching creams, so who knows?

Thandie's daughter looks totally right from those two parents. Thandie's like her mother, though. Very prejudiced against black men.
Seal's child should look more like Obama Barak. Lightskinned with nappy hair and African features.
I am beginning to see an awful lot of what Kola Boof says everywhere in the world.
I could not imagine being Seal in a house surrounded by a wife and children who look nothing like me or my race. Yet we know he would not have accepted it any other way.

PBG: why are you so obsessed? How do you know Thandie hates black men? You do not know her. And there is no particular way that Seal and Heidis' child *should* look. The child looks obviously mixed to me. What's the problem? They look blissfully happy so why do you have a problem with that? |

First of all Igbogirl, take note.
"Prettybabygurl" and "Prettybabygirl" are two different posters.
Mzuri created the troll "Prettybabygurl".
Secondly, I am not hating on this child.
I am noticing that the child looks nothing like it's father, which is very disappointing. I have also noticed Seal's colorist remarks for years in interviews. Have you ever listened to the words to his song "Kiss from a Rose" or "White Angels"?
He has always been out to prove that he's a human being by marrying a white one.
Thirdly, your posts Igbogirl are always laced with your own colorism.
Foxy Brown's "fine" hair and these "darling little children" and you being a light skinned African are staples of the things you post.
I don't think these children are all that darling looking to be honest, but I would like to ask you three questions Igbogirl.
First--do you want your children to look black or like Igbo people?
Second--do you think light skinned children are more "darling" than black children?
Third--what do you think of black children in general?

I already have a child. She is extremely beautiful. She's also very dark skinned. Comparable, I guess, to Wesley Snipes in complexion. I want all my future children to look just like her. Her father is Yoruba. So, no, I do not think a person has to be light skinned to be attractive - I think people of any shade can be attractive. However I will not be so petty as to start dissing light skinned people. I stand by my comments that Seal's kid and Thandie's kid are very cute. Not as cute as my daughter, but then I am biased. |

Um, PBG, you wouldn't know what Thandie or her mother's taste were in men. Neither of those women would likely give you the time of day.
You think I came here to marry a white American man or a lightskinned black American man? Hell to the no. LOL. If you knew me, you'd know that while I've dated white occasionally in the past, I like my men the color of Seal. Oh, and I've already been married (now divorced) to a dark skinned Yoruba man. If I marry again, it will be another African man. |

Thandie and her mother gave REDBOOK the time of day in an article about six years back. Her mother's the typical colorstruck woman from Uganda who thought Great Britain was the promised land. She set out to get pregnant by a White man.
Thandie is worshipped by black men, yet she mysteriously could never seem to date one. She was exclusively dating white or "other" men all her life.
How do you explain that when she's so worshipped by black men Igbogirl?

So you are telling me that Thandie and her mother told Redbook that they hate black men? and Thandie's mother said that she was on a mission to get pregnant by a white man?
Also I don't think it that odd that Thandie didn't date many black men. Honestly, we don't even know exactly who she dated since neither of us know her.
Anyhow, she is half white so I don't find it anymore shocking that she dated mainly white men than if she had dated mainly black men. She is entitled to swing either way, so to speak.
Now if Thandie was a black woman I would then find it odd. |

I've enjoyed Thandie's cinematic performances. She has a fairly unique way of appearing vulnerable, sexy and blood red evil ALL at the same time.
Honestly, I've never even THOUGHT about Thandie's dating/mating practices. And I doubt that her having some alleged preference for White men will affect that.
But, I suppose, if what you describe is true and she had a much larger, broader celebrity thing happening, I might think and feel differently. |

At least Naomi Campbell can be understood after Eddie Murphy and Brian McNight both dumped her for being "too dark" which is what she said they told her.

My cousins who are 1/2 ethiopian and 1/2 white look full white
They have green eyes and light brown straight hair and heidi clums skin tone
I do see this w/ a lot of ethiopian mixes that they turn out looking more white than ethiopian so I guess it is normal

Isn't the father of Sade's child a black Rastaman? I read, I think, that Sade's Nigerian father split when she was a kid. Maybe if she felt abandoned by daddy she has issues with black men.

Thank you for responding to my thread, Mzuri, and much respect to you and to everyone that responded. What I tend to see is that "dark skinned" people, indeed, usually are a few shades lighter when they are young -- but that the younger skin color's shade remains in the undertone. I.e., if you take a picture just right, you will get a snapshot of the light brown undertones of the person so much so that you'd think they have their childhood skin color again. The thing is I've always lived in a white environment and it's a "strict" environment in that there is no "mixing." Not because people are "racist" just because, well, it's like 99.9999% white. I'm in my early twenties and am very selective with any media that I take in so that pretty much means hardly any TV - Radio yes, and lots of internet media. In terms of skin color, when I do see other Black people, they usually have, well,Denzel Washington's skin color and darker - I am maybe one shade darker than Denzel. Well my point is that whites will usually say that Black people have dominant genes that overtake any non-black's genes that they procreate with and lately I've been seeing the opposite of this.

Science says that in any race---the "female" genes are the dominant.
A black female will dominate a white man's genes.
A white female will dominate a black men's genes and create a more mixed child.
Even with Beyonce's parents you saw evidence of this being true.
That is why the "new mixies" are so much lighter and whiter then back when black women had mixed babies.
This is according to science.
I still don't believe Seal is that baby's father though. He may indeed have pulled a "Michael Jackson" in the doctor's lab to get children who don't look like him.

Seal's child definitely has his ears. And he definitely looks biracial. I think his skin tone is beautiful.
Thandie Newton is a doll. Her husband is yuck --looks like a stinky Brit. Their child is "cute" (thanks to mom).
And anyone with a brain should be able to comprehend that, there are no "rules" in the way DNA plays out in the offspring of one black parent and one white parent. There are biracial people who are very unattractive like: Rain Pryor, Doug Christie, Tracee Ellis Ross, Eartha Kitt, David Justice, and Roland Gift. However, there are BEAUTIES like: Thandie Newton, Ben Harper, Boris, James Blake, Halle, Tamia (the singer), and Lenny Kravitz.
When it comes to procreating, Interracial couples are exactly like couples who share the same "color" --it's like a DNA crap shoot.

most of my cousins who are mixed w/ white have ethiopian mothers and white fathers but they come out looking almost full white w/ straight hair and green/blue eyes |

And p.s I was lighter than that baby and had the same exact hair texture has him when I was born but got darker and my hair got more "rough" as I grew up
although I do have some full ethiopian cousins that have his hair |

To touch on what Mint_carl0v3 stated about her/his cousins being born with green/blue eyes, thank you for bringing this out.
What most people don't know is ALL babies, mixed or not, are born with blue or green eyes. Ask any pediatrician or obstetrician. Blue and green eyes are recessive eye colors. At birth, the pigmentation of our eyes is not fully matured. This also explains why all newborns have limited vision, usually can't see objects more than a foot away from them. Many babies eyes will change from blue/green to brown within days after being born. But it can take up to a year after they're born for their eyes to change to whatever color they will be for the rest of their lives. If a baby's eye color has not changed from blue, green, hazel, hazel-blue, hazel-green, hazel-grey, green-grey, blue-grey or grey by the time the child's reached his/her first birthday then that's the child's permanent eye color.
Many babies don't/can't open their eyes wide enough until a few weeks after they're born so most parents never even notice that their babies eyes changed color.
Also, this phenomenon happens in reverse. Have you ever looked at the eye color of an elderly person with brown eyes. You'll notice a bluish or greenish discoloration. This is because, just as at birth, the eyes are losing pigmentation and vision due to old age.
This is a trait that all humans share in common as well as many other creatures, especially other mammals, in the animal kingdom. |
