I can't post in the thread about Pam Grier (work restrictions) but just wanted to add that it's well known that Hausas and Fulanis have serious Arab admixture. Fulanis are known as the "white people of Africa" in Benin, or at least the part where I am from. Hausas and Fulanis are not only racially but also very culturally/linguistically mixed. The point is that just because someone is African doesn't mean they are 100% black African and I see this sort of fallacy promoted repeatedly. People have been mixing for eons and Africa is not a secluded universe. But yes so-called "Asian" eyes are very prevalent in West Africa and are 100% indigenous. |

"But yes so-called "Asian" eyes are very prevalent in West Africa and are 100% indigenous." So true. With regard to the Hausa...One of my friends is Nigerian and a mix of Hausa and Yoruba. she has silky-ish hair, is my complexion and has green eyes. Unfortunately some people call her "puss eye" |

I'm sorry I know that I am way off. But I have been told that I look part-Asian. Even Asians tell me that. I always wondered where I got this from. But, I am heard that there are many African tribes that look like this. |

Hey Serena if you are a member of the diaspora you may have very well gotten those eyes from your West African ancestors or some non West African ancestors (Indians or Asians who may be in your family) but many West Africans, including me, have almond shaped eyes. Yolanda Adams has this face and I've seen many of "her" in different shades in West Africa. |

Igbogirl how common is mixing between Yorubas and Hausas? I would assume it's not very common since most Hausas are muslims but I don't know. |
