Most Mexicans are Catholic, hence the birthrate. There is so much free contraception given by the government that it's crazy. When I was younger, I got pills from the health department.... free for non-working women and women who already had children, SEVEN DOLLARS A MONTH for working people without children and they didn't even ask how much money I made, only if I was working. The last time I used them, however, was maybe 8 or so years ago, so I can't say if it's the same. | ||

Well, Shemika, there's a reason married women are having less children than single women. For single women who want more than one child it's actually CHEAPER for them to have many children than for a married couple to have one child. A single woman with 4 children would qualify for free medical care, free food, free housing, and free child care for all of her children, without her working outside the home at all and without there being restrictions on how many children she can have (unlike China, where you only get assistance for the first two and they TAX you for any beyond that). A married couple would qualify for NONE of that, no matter their income or number of children. Childcare for our son ALONE is 150.00 per week. Then there's medical insurance. Can you seriously imagine having 4 kids and paying 600.00 per WEEK just on childcare? It's almost like they're PAYING women to have children out of wedlock. | ||

Bitch, please. I grew up in the ghetto, and most of the friends I had there are still there with 4 (or many more) children. People do get those benefits for children, but, the MORE children you have, the MORE benefits you get. Also, the MOTHER receives free medical care as well, until the YOUNGEST child turns 18. And I'm sure the mother also benefits from not having to pay rent until the YOUNGEST child turns 18. And that money isn't always collected by child support offices. Many of the fathers of those children DON'T WORK because they owe child support. And many of them still live with the mothers in their rent free government apartments. And if your ex doesn't pay even a dime in child support, IT DOESN'T MATTER. Because she's a single mother, she still qualifies for aid. I wish I lived in your world where all fathers ACTUALLY PAY child support. Or have you been living in Idaho all of your life? I lived in the ghetto until I was 19, and watched girls I went to school with have babies as soon as they turned 18-19 just so they could get their own apartment. Also, when I moved to Atlanta, I used to volunteer with a non-profit organization and had to take women to DFACS to sign up for all of this stuff. I wasn't being judgmental at all, I'm just stating facts. It's MUCH cheaper to be SINGLE and have children than it is to be MARRIED and have children. So, if a woman wants 10 kids, I could see why she would stay single and know that her children at least has housing, food, and medical insurance for their entire childhood. Because as soon as she gets married, she's on her own and has to pay for all of that out of her on pocket. LOL... those benefits are PLENTY, trust me. A friend in MS with 7 children gets 1200 just in FOOD STAMPS (I think they get a card now). You get a certain amount per child. PLUS those under 5 get free day care, they all get free medical care until they're 18 (the mother until the youngest turns 18) and free rent. Now that may not sound like a lot to you, but that's CERTAINLY more than she would have to feed them if she worked and had to pay rent and daycare for the youngest two who are under 5 and medical insurance for all of them. She actually works, but with her income she still qualifies for aid. In GA, SINGLE women with children on medicaid qualify for medicaid themselves until the child turns 18. They go after fathers in Georgia, but only if the mothers report them and if they can be found (they don't always live in Georgia and often the men don't work and/or the women don't have specific enough information on the guy to find him). Black people are rewarded with food stamps and government aid because it keeps us ON AID and from AIMING for other things in life. A lot of people who have children on aid, have GRANDCHILDREN on aid. They give you free rent, but only where they want you to live and not in nice areas. It isn't a surprise to me that as soon as black people could legally live in any neighborhood they wanted, the government offered welfare to a large number of them and they moved to GHETTOS and stayed out of white neighborhoods. I never said that white people don't receive these funds, but they don't at the percentages that black people do and they certainly don't live in the same ghetto neighborhoods with us. (the biggest reason I didn't want to be on it was because I REFUSED to let them tell me where I can and can't live.) But as I said before, leave Idaho long enough to actually visit a ghetto instead of reading some study and you'll see exactly what it's like. I lived in the ghetto until 1992. As for time restrictions, they vary from state to state and in MS my friend is STILL on aid, so apparently her time hasn't run out. Her oldest child is 16, the youngest are 3 and 4. She also still lives in the same neighborhood. I've tried to get her to move to Atlanta, but they don't have any apartments here for her and there is a long waiting list. I'm not being judgmental at all. I only stated that it's much CHEAPER to be single and have a lot of children than it is for married women to have the same number of children.
