The Male Obsession: Penis Size Men the world over are convinced their penis is smaller than normal, according to experts, whereas only .2% (one-fifth of one percent) are actually outside the 'normal' range on the small side. For those that need convincing, here's a graph: scroll to the bar chart and you will see that the bulk, if you'll excuse the expression, of the values fall between five inchs and seven inchs. If you're tape-measure-averse, here's a chart to print out and compare yourself against. You'll notice that all these measurements are of the erect penis. There's a reason for that. The act of becoming erect 'normalizes' most penis size variability - the large flaccid penis will increase a small amount in size, while the small flaccid penis can actually double in size. Since the female vagina is three inches deep, and stretchs to accommodate all sizes of penises, one wonders where the quest for greater length comes from. And most women will gladly tell you that it's not the length, it's the girth (or width) that causes the most stimulation, (not to mention that little je ne sais quoi known as 'technique') and they would prefer a short, fat penis to a long, skinny one if forced to declare a preference. In fact, penises that are too long can ram the cervix, which can make sex incredibly uncomfortable. There is a vast market for bogus penis size enhancers out there, none of which can be said to work. There are operations that can make the penis appear to be longer, by snipping a ligament that holds the root of the penis inside the abdomen; the result is that more of the flaccid penis is visible externally rather than only when erect. The drawback is that the ligament is responsible for holding the penis erect during 'erection', so that penises whose ligaments have been cut will get hard, but will dangle rather than stand up straight - the 'erection' becomes a 'dangling hard-on'. Counterintuitively, the penis size that concerns men the most is the size while flaccid. And as we mentioned, the size while flaccid has little to do with the size while erect. So the issue clearly isn't sexual competence or the ability to sexually satisfy women, but aesthetics. Here the appearance of sexual virility trumps sexual virility itself. Penis size concerns clearly aren't related to one's ability to satisfy sexually, or men would be more concerned about erection size. So one is forced to assume that it's for alpha-display in locker-room type settings, and counting coup over one's male peers. The extent to which some will go can be baffling, as witness this tale: Dr Woffles Wu, a consultant plastic surgeon at Camden Medical Centre, said he recently had a group of patients who came in asking for circumcision followed by a request is to sew it up 'roughly'. 'They tell me to make their penises look ugly, so that it looks fierce and misshapened and can give women more 'shiok',' said Dr Wu. ... He realised that the group of middle-aged men all knew each other when he interviewed them at length about their desire for an 'ugly' penis. 'They came to see me one after the other, all asking for the same thing. I realised that among this group, a penis with a ferocious jambu-shaped head was the 'in' and desirable thing,' he said. Since men aren't longing for larger penises because they're concerned about pleasing women, there's really nothing women can say to convince them that their concerns are misplaced, beyond assuring him that his size is perfectly satisfactory in both word and deed. If you are involved with a man who is obsessed over the size of his penis, do some research in the dangers involved in many of the so-called 'penis enlargement' techniques and make sure he's aware of them. A serious obsession, or a tendency towards unnecessary surgery, may require professional counselling. Copyright © 2005 - Augusta Greenleaf

do you all think men enblarge their penis more for the sake of other men than for the sake of women (as the article suggests). also do you all beleive that what this article is saying is true that its more about thickness than length and that men their penis to look ugly and rugged? LOLLOL this article makes it seem that it only takes about 5 inches maybe to please a woman sexually yet most women i hear oogle over the longer ones |

Tall brother my last boyfriend was Zimbabwean and had a penis smaller than a newborn baby's. It was at most 2 inches long and very thin even when fully erect. He confided later that he usually had anal sex with his girlfriends. I guess he had to in order for either partner to feel anything. One of my first boyfriends was half Senegalese and half white. His penis was also minuscule. So, I don't think penis size is a race thing. Those two brothers were extremely unfortunate and you could tell they were embarrassed about their teeny weeny penises. TEh Zimbabwean dude actually said, "yes, that is my penis" the first time I saw it. |
