She had Nicole Richie this morning. Nicole Richie was saying that she was of mixed heritage but she identifies as Black. That was too funny to me.
I find it baffling how Black Americans have disrepected themselves by allowing anyone to claim "Blackness". I look at our country and I think why only her in America that ppl of mixed heritage have to claim Black?
Even in countries like South Africa(which had the strictest segregation laws known to man) mullattos got to claim there own ethnic heritage. Why only her in the US that ppl of mixed heritage have to claim Black?

I don't really view Nicole to be a Black person. But she's free to think of herself as she chooses to do. |

There are black Hispanics. Cubans, and Puerto Ricans and Dominicans come in both colors. I think Sheila E considers herself black. And Nicole was raised by a black adoptive parents. |

What do you mean by disrespecting yourself? You use that terminology quite often, Could you elaborate on that? I have to agree with NTFS, everyone is allowed to do and feel whatever they choose, its a free country. I think the lack of respect for our culture comes from blacks who choose to believe that something is always being taken from them, that we are always the victim, whoa is me cause im a black man, or the classic if I was a white man that police officer would have let me go. So many negative comments about our race from peolpe who supposedly love and respect their blackness. And the word Nigger has been used on this site more times than any white man has used it in history! Please, give me a break! |

Well, hell, I've been wanting to be Japanese for a really long time. My hair is black enough. My skin is yellow enough. And I'm short. I dated a Japanese guy before. I've been mistaken for Malay and Indian before...those are in Asia (close enough to Japan).

Hispanic is not even a race.
But no, she's not a Black person. And I find it bizarre that she identifies as such. Not only does she not look Black but all her life she has been more closely associated with White culture.
Lionel Richie didn't raise her. He was never there for her. The White nannies and maids did. All he did was give her full access to a luxurious lifestyle. |

Thats why black people cant see the forrest for the trees, cause they so busy worrying about what the white man is supposedly doing to them.
