WORDS WE SPEAK - #6 Black Think Tank
Here are a few of the things learned at the Black Think Tank
Facts:
1. The first Americans or Native Americans going back 13,000 BC were black! Look up the Folsom people who lived in Arizona. [NOTE: c. 9000-8000 B.C. Folsom people flourish throughout Southwest at the end of the last Ice Age. In 1863, New Mexico was partitioned in half, creating the Territory of Arizona.]

2. One of the best reasons to stop our use of the term African American and say Black. A white person who was born in Africa, who moves to America is an African American qualifies for financial aid, etc., but will get the jobs/pay privileges afforded to whites.
3. Look up the Slavery Law of 1665 (which stayed in effect until 1968) and the Maryland Doctrine of Exclusion (1638): both laws state that blacks must be excluded from the benefits afforded whites and that blacks must remain Noncompetitive with whites, except in sports and entertainment. 4. Two white men: Bill Gates and Larry Elision, combined have more wealth than the combined wealth of all 36 million blacks in America. Civil Rights did not change the economic landscape or the balance of power in America.
5. Asians received 80% of all government minority set aside contracts. Hello!!
6. Blacks eat more fish than whites by a 4 to 1 margin. For every dollar whites spend on fish, blacks spend $9 on fish. Fish sold wholesale for $1 will retail at $2.50 – $3.00. Guess what business we should be in as Blacks?
7. There are no black owned national cables or major network television stations. The black woman who owns our only black owned radio stations, plans to sell to white owners after hearing the deal Bob Johnson received for selling B ET. (Cathy Hughes is from OMAHA, ya'll!)
8. There are no black owned companies on the Wall Street Stock Exchange where blacks own the majority or controlling interest of the stock.
9. Ninety-six % of all black inmates are men. [See Angela Davis at http://www.fyicomminc.com/angela/angela5.htm]
10. Over the next two years 440,000 black inmates will be released from prison. The State has no place to put them as they re-enter society. A profitable business would be - Halfway houses!
11. In 1860, 98% of all Blacks in America worked for White people. In 2001, 98% of all Blacks in America still work for white people, [meaning only 2% of Blacks are entrepreneurs].
12. In 1860, blacks in America had a combined net worth of one half of 1% point. Guess what, in 2001, after Civil Rights, Jesse Jackson, Oprah, Shaq, NAACP, and Urban League, our combined net worth is half a percentage point.
13. For every dollar earned by a Jewish person, that dollar touches 12 -18 Jewish hands before it leaves their community. For every dollar earned by a black person it leaves the community soon as he or she earns it. [This may be an erroneous, since Buying Black is a reality for many Sistahs and Brothas.]
14. The last week of April 2003, in Washington, DC, black teenagers where arrested and booked for eating McDonald's on the metro subway. Cops cited the recent 5-4 court decision as the permission to arrest lawbreakers even for minor offenses.
15. Sixty-seven percent (67%) of all hate crimes in America are against blacks. After we get through being pleased that we have carpet in our office, a secretary, our name on the door and make six figures, we do not own anything. What will happen if you miss 6 months of work without pay? All we have left our children is debt, not an inheritance. You cannot pass welfare or food stamps onto our kids as a nest egg! We are not even in the race. By the way, the word "race" hit the English language in the 16th century when Europeans held a contest to see who will win the race to gather the most wealth through exploitation of blacks.
Read Powernomics by Claude Anderson. It's our blueprint to create wealth, not just have a job, but be a business owner, hire people, be listed on the stock exchange, develop businesses.

1. I read there's some controversy about whether those Folsom foks were of African descent.
2. Are there enuff naturalized American Caucasians who've immigrated from Africa to compel us to be concerned with them using the term African American?
3. How SPECIFICALLY does the links you've posted support your "...both laws state that blacks must be excluded from the benefits afforded whites and that blacks must remain Noncompetitive with whites, except in sports and entertainment..."?
4. What IS the combined wealth of African Americans? It would seem remiss to assert that 2 White men are richer than all AA combined WITHOUT juxtaposing the combined wealths.
5. I'm gonna have to see PROOF of THAT one.
6. Do Blacks eat more fish, do we pay more for it or some combination of both of those? It seems to me highly unlikely that we'd eat FOUR TIMES the amount of fish that Whites do. Because, hell, what are Whites eating in much greater excess to offset that difference? It sure as hell ain't CHICKEN...Hahahahaha!!!
7. I think that's probably true. However, Bob Johnson had the majority interests in BET for over 20 years. Where'd THAT get us?
8. Here's the thing about that, though: Any company that's good, substantial enuff to be listed on a Wall Street stock exchange is probably going to attract the attention of non-Blacks, who, combined, have considerably MORE money than Blacks. So I'm not sure if this is a bad thing. Perhaps what I'd decry is their being few-2-no Black-controlled businesses on the stock exchanges. Or, worse, there are no Black-controlled EXCHANGES. |

9. Combination of things here: A) Women probably are less likely to commit crimes than men. B) These less enforcement and prosecution of the kinds of crimes women do commit. C) Why should chicks commit crimes when they can just woo men into doing crazy, criminal shyt for them?
10. WHOSE gonna pay for those halfway houses? It sure as hell ain’t gonna be the federal and/or state governments?
11. I think it’s probably true that upwards of 90% of our employers are non-Black. I think, though, I might allocate some of that percentage to Asians, Hispanics, Arabs, etc.
12. WOW. When last I read, we at least owned about 1.5%. That’s even WORSE than I’d feared. I really HOPE that stat is in error. Though it surely explains WHY we are where we are now.
13. First. Black foks don’t trust other Black foks to provide them with good/services. Also (and as a result of that), we have almost NO presence amid basic, core and vital means of commerce. So even if one WANTS to shop Black, his/her opportunities to do so are limited. Can I buy a car from a Black owned auto manufacturer? No. Can I buy electricity and natural gas from Black-owned utilities? Hell. Can I even buy MILK that was produced from Black farmers? No.
14. We most DEFINITELY must begin to review and defy laws that can be casually wielded to criminalize Black foks, especially young Black foks. Though...I HATE seeing foks eat cooked food on public transportation. Talking about GAUCHE!
15. Yes. We must DEFINITELY begin to look at ourselves less as consumers and more as producers. But doing such will require a RADICAL reconfiguration of our education, socialization, culture and mindset. Whether we’re willing to do what needs to be done, I don’t know. |

ABM....people from Africa are not allowed to use "African-American" on any government documents as identity.
Your COUNTRY precludes "America"......you are "Nigerian-American", "Ghanian-American", "Ethiopian-American", etc.
Though for years I rejected my father's heritage, I am listed as "Egyptian-Sudanese-American" on adoption papers, etc.

"referring" ABM is a different matter.
That's a use of SPEECH and words.
But on legal government papers, a White woman from South Africa can not be documented as "African-American"............well, not unless a college administrator or someone like that FORGES the applications and forms requesting something from that institution (which I'm sure happens).
But no---immigrants are classified by "country", not by "continent" unless it's Australia.

BTW, ABM...if I had only been "Egyptian-American", they would not have allowed me to be classified as "BLACK".
Having Sudanese as a 2nd country (my birthplace), allowed me to be listed as "BLACK".
But all those with black skin from Egypt are forced to be classified as Anglo-Nilotic or "White" or "Arab".
America doesn't not recognize blacks from Egypt.

America says that if Alek Wek was born in Egypt----she is NOT BLACK.
Do you see where "colorism" comes from? That it is the root activator of racism?
To keep Egypt WHITE--they would mis-record the birth of black people.
And have done so all along.

Blacks in the south eat fish for breakfast and all day Friday...and any other time we can get our hands on it...and on Tuesdays...and Wednesdays, too...and at social functions...and at church functions...and we sell it during fundraisers....and we have it for spring/summer birthday parties...
SERIOUSLY....how many white people have you EVER met eat fish for breakfast and on Fridays RELIGIOUSLY?
yep, we're some fish eating folks if nothing else.
It's usually catfish or whiting or trout or tilapia or red snapper.....unless you're on the coast, in which case it's shrimp, whiting, or crawfish. |

About the country thing....that's true. A Pakistani friend of mine noticed that a ticket of his said "white" and thought he was being insulted...he contacted a lawyer and found out that Pakistanis/Nepalese/Indians/Bangladeshis (who are typically darker skinned than American blacks) are considered "white" here, per lobbying from their governments that they be considered so on forms here.
And we wonder why many of them come here and identify more with white people. According to the government, they ARE white. |
