I recently came across a disturbing manifestation of black male self-hatred/delusion: blacktown.net. At first, reading through the various pages, I literally cried with laughter, the ideas were so foolish. However, I stopped laughing and became concerned after about 10 pages of what cannot be described as anything save the rantings of a madman.
This website self-describes as a black nationalist informational site and forum, with twin aims of (1) uplifting black men who the site proprietor acknowledges are in crisis, and (2) combatting the "feminist witchcraft" which the proprietor believes is responsible for the destruction of the black community. It should be noted that the rhetoric "feminist agenda" and "witchcraft" are the mainstays of the white fascist conservative movement; these are phrases which are repeated ad nauseum by Pat Buchanan.
On blacktown.net's message board, the archives of which I recently perused, it was not uncommon for participants to refer to black women as "nigger bitches." Throughout the site, some of the most non-factual, asinine, and ultimately hateful attacks I've seen lodged against black women were in abundance.
Quickly I wanted to dismiss the entire site as the ramblings of a nut, but can I?
Is this site just a fringe, not hardly representative of what the average brother thinks, or does it represent the thinking of far too many? |

The "black woman" is the only evil woman on earth and she must be destroyed.
Of course, by destroying her---you keep the black race from coming back into the world.

BET, as well as the cold-hard statistics. Black women, least likely to get married; most likely to head a single parent household.
It disheartened me because even brothers like those on blacktown.net who claim to be all about black nationalism have one of their central goals the demonization of the black woman.
How many even educated, black power-oriented brothers believe either overtly or subconsciously that the black man's rise is predicated on the black woman's downfall?
Scary, and if this is the mentality, the black community might as well wrap it up right now, because as you noted, no community survives the destruction of its women.
I read a thread here today in which a sister spoke of the crisis: she, beautiful, successful, positive, passed over at a bbq for a white woman who not only told the black man chasing her that she wasn't interested, but she had absolutely nothing to bring to the table.
Why do we let this go on and pretend it's not happening? |

B_W I would submit that the number as a whole is very few; however, those voices that constantly facillitate the defamation of our beautiful everstrong black women are using platforms that are making them seem the majority. The media doesn't mind portraying any of us as less than human. It's not just BET it's every media outlet like it that caters to us. We eat this crap up not realizing what it is doing to our black men and women. If we were to see our aging mothers and grandmothers on TV in those positions that BET puts us in we all would be put off by it. But do you think we would get the point?
Our mothers and maternal elders are held dear to our hearts. These "individuals" don't realize that our young black women are those same revered figures of the future. I personally know black men who will not consider dating a black woman because black women expect them to be the MAN they are supposed to be. It's amazing how many of us refuse to fill that role. These so called "Rappers" call themselves entertainers, they are more defamers. They are as ignorant as the house slave turning their backs on the masses in the field.
We will survive this Bullsh*t, and the black race will come back into its own. Those days of us looking at whites and "wishing" we had what they do are slowly coming to an end. Today we are a smarter people, a stronger people, and a decidedly more responsive people than ever before. A reality check and change for the betterment of black people is inevitable. It's just a matter of time until the movement reaches the thick inner center of our society who seems to be untouched by the education of their black selves.

How so? Is there any real quantifiable evidence that the white feminist movement had a large impact on the black community? I'd suggest that the war on drugs, for which our community was a prime and deliberate target, had a far greater impact on the destruction than white feminists, whose battle and whose agenda was not even wholly compatible with or targeted to black women. Many, many criticisms have been lodged against the feminist movement on that basis alone. |

Those guys are the lowest cowards on earth. They want to absolve black men of responsibility for the state of the black community by painting our culture as a "matriarchy" that was steered wrong by black women. We can't build a nation with lowlives like that. |

I agree, I feel that the lines between the feminist movement and the black comunity were thick and almost vaguely apparent to each other. Movements requre some degree of independence. We are still looking for that elbow room. How many black women were out in the street topless as they stood before a pile of burning bras? (Not that I've ever actually seen this) But per the demonstrations I don't believe white women and black women were standing in unision with any comon goal. Black women were too busy dealing with keeping the family together and their men out of trouble |
