Hey All,
I just learned about the View episode and market testing with Monique as a replacement for Star - -check out this clip on ifilm

I was BLOWN away and not suprised yet disgusted with our pathetic attempts to please whitey and demand respect - find your own space for respect -- thanks to Bob "sellout" Johnson - there is no cable station and Cosby couldn't buy NBC -- maybe the internet/web is our final frontier - peace

I really LOVE Monique and there is a quite a bit of substance and courage to what she does---that SEPARATES her from the "loud fat black woman" stereotype.
I hated her t.v. series "The Parkers"--it was trash. But MONIQUE's films and campaigns for the self-esteem of "Big Women" are admirable and she is a beautiful, sexy larger woman with A LOT of intelligence and motherwit.

I'm starting to notice that almost all of our poster-kids are darker-skinned: Oprah (Mammy) MONIQUE (loud fat black woman) Condi Rice (sell-out "skeezer") Clarence Thomas (sell-out)
...while most of our “heroes” are/were mixed/light: Barack Obama, Colin Powell, Rosa Parks, Dubois and many people that I love too much to put on this list.
My point is, why are all our Darkies EVIL? |

I dislike Mo'Nique LARGELY because of my disdain for The Parkers. But I admit that she handled herself quite WELL on The View.
And Waters deserves to get that old, pissy Geritol taste slapped from out of her mouth for referring to that woman's children as "creatures".

Boy what a tangled thread we weave when we practice to deceive -- I COMPLETELY disagree with the assertion that "darkies are evil" That is clearly a stereotype of white supremacy -- from Jason's Lyric to Boyz in the Hood - -the belief that evil is housed in a darker body --
I am not a fan of Monique or the View - on that link there is a clip from Brandi's screen test - she aint dark or fat and they played her -- we need to realize that looking to white people for satifaction and compliments is a bankrupt premise -

In the byte I caught of Monique on The View she was desperately trying to make the point that cheating on one's mate was permissable in a marriage. The audience response was chilly and her co-panelists were giving her the fish-eye. If it's controversy The View wants, Monique will certainly provide it. |
