A) There is no clear story or theme to the video
B) The dancing is erratic, confusing and alarming at times
C) The sexual themes and shots between Ms. Knowles and Mr. Sean Carter PKA Jay-Z, are alarming and show unacceptable interactions between the two
D) The fashion in this video, while haute-couture, is unbelievable and ridiculous
E) The editing, while professionally done, causes one to get dizzy and disoriented
F) The overall feel of the video leaves a sense of much to be desired
G) The video is very disappointing and is not a clear representation of any of the songs themes

Any time a video rates having a petition brought agains it, it's compelling. Just ask Madonna. Surely these are not Beyonce's fans doing the complaining. When did they become so discriminating and articulate and prudish. |

The comments on the petition don't sound all that sophisticated, most of them just say she's a hot mess and they hate her video. It makes me kind of curious to see it. |

I peeped at the video and think it's hot! I like their chemistry! I like her dancing in the video because it was raw and emotion-driven. The fashion was tasteful and understanable considering that they are both millionaires--they can get away with it.
And though Jay isn't nothing to look at, I think he looks good in the video. It seems Beyonce's "diet" is doing him well, too. They both look fabulous thinner!

Are you all talking about the video for "Deja Vu"? If so, I was curious, too, and took a look at it, and I have to agree with you, Moonsigns. And since I came of age going to Prince concerts back in the day, the simulated sex doesn't really phase me too much. I'll definitely take that over some other artists real sex tapes that keep surfacing! LOL

Yes! I'm definitely not into videos, however; all this 'drama' over a video sparked my curiousity! LOL! I really like it, because their craft, as well as their affinity for one another, is electric on-screen! There is something magentic about that! And I don't look at the scenes with the "simulated sex" as being offensive--most adults "do it". I think the way in which it was presented was sensual and earthy (natural). It's not like Beyonce was half-naked in a thong with her breasts hanging out or censored.
Yvettep, I can't believe you went to Prince concerts--LMAO!!!!!!!!!! You seem so "wholesome"!

I'm with you Yvettep. I've been a huge Prince fan for the past 20 years. My first concert was a Prince concert - and once you've seen Prince live, you've seen it all. Everything else pales in comparison.
I'm not a Beyonce or a Destiny's Child fan and I haven't seen the video. But now, with all this hoopla surrounding it, I am curious to give it a glance. I'll be on the look-out for it. |

Though my wife grew up a bit of a Holy Roller, she too has always been a Prince fan. (Hell. All she plays in her car is his latest CD.)
Although Prince's personae has on the fringes, his artistic talents and skills have been undeniable. I mean, when you consider his singing, music, songwriting, performing and even his presense; Prince Rogers Nelson is in a class ALL by HIMSELF! |

Prince is the original nasty boy, or rude boy as he was sometimes called. His female guitarist Wendy would get on her knees face-to-face with his crotch during his Purple Rain concerts. We all remember how his guitar was specially equipped to spray while he simulated jackin off. And he was always humping the floor. "Do me Baby", was one of his big hits. Eh, I don't like it. She has that Britney-esque expressionless deer caught in headlights look. Her eyes look so dead.
The new video sucks. She does the banana dance ala Ms. Baker. Who did the banana dance to entertain let's face it - white folks. Who probably thought wow Ms. Baker was able to capture that "primitive spirit". And then we fast forward to 2006 and what do I see; Ms. Knowles chaneling her "primitive spirit."
