Wealthy Palestinian American Businessman Denies African American-Palestinian Toddler As Grandson
How dare his grandparents treat their grandson like dirt. This episode reminds me of how the late senator Strom Thurmond and his family treated Essie Mae Washington back in the 1920s, the late Johnny Carson once threatened his son with disinheritance if he didn't disown his own daughter, Chrystal Carson. Or to the most recent revelation of Prince Rainier's son by French/Togolese flight attendant. This is all too familiar and common recurrance of people in power to disown the offspring of black and multiracial women around the world. It is to maintain their positions, pure and simple.

African Americans have experienced discrimination by whites in this country for several hundred years, but a new discriminating culprit has come to light - one who is not even a natural U.S. citizen.
Atlantic City, NJ (BlackNews.com) - According to 23-year-old African American mom, Krystal Surrency, Ellijah - the baby boy to whom she gave birth on June 4, 2003 - was fathered by Jason Salemah, a Palestinian-American with whom she had resided for two years. Proud to be a dad and happy that Krystal had given him his first-born son, Jason acknowledged and accepted paternity from the moment Krystal told him of her pregnancy. However, the baby's maternal grandfather SFC Gary Surrency, US Army Retired, said that upon learning of his daughter's condition, Jason's father Salebe' Salemah - a wealthy Palestinian immigrant and self-proclaimed Christian - exclaimed, "I'll not have that monkey in my family!" Krystal overheard Salemah make the comment to his son. "Mr. Salemah also said to Jason, "You always go to the hood and bring back hood rats" - referring me," Krystal remarked.
When his son was alive, Salemah consented to allow a DNA paternity test under the condition that he would not be responsible for the cost. Krystal agreed to have her infant tested and her parents endorsed the procedure and offered to pay for it so that the matter could be settled once and for all. Later, Salemah forbade his son to take the test, threatening to disinherit him.
Jason died in his sleep on Memorial Day 2005 of unknown causes, at least unknown to Krystal and her influential parents as Jason's father has kept autopsy results from them. Additionally, in spite of Salebe' Salemah's wife's desire to learn if she has a grandson, he now refuses to take the DNA test while claiming that Krystal's intent is to extort money from him.
Sgt. Surrency, who retired from the United States Army after having served 20 years, and his wife Millie are Krystal's parents and proud grandparents of Ellijah. They are long-time advocates for displaced children. For more than ten years they have taken in and helped to guide troubled kids. Stressing the importance of education, they have assisted several young people with college expenses. Sgt. and Mrs. Surrency were named among "Who's Who in America" in 2003 and 2004 and "Who's Who in the World" in 2003. The Rosa Parks Society and Southern Poverty Law Center will place their names on the Montgomery, Alabama "Wall of Tolerance" in November 2005 in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of tolerance in America.
The Surrencys have chosen to not only bring the parental dispute to public attention, but the hardcore bigoted attitude of the Palestinian immigrant, who is himself a minority in this country who should be grateful for the privilege of residing here. Sgt. Surrency said, "His comments sound like and sting just like those made by many whites in the "Old" and not so "Old South. The man is a racist who should be ashamed of his own behavior, not ashamed to have a black grandson."
Also grandparents to another mixed-raced child (Caucasian/African American), the Surrencys make no ethnic distinctions with respect to decision making of any kind. "I am quite angry and frustrated," commented Sgt. Surrency. "Not only does Mr. Salemah deny his grandson for racist reasons, but he derives a good deal of his wealth from blacks and other minority patrons." Mr. Salemah operates several family-owned businesses including a number of "The Sheik" fast-food restaurants, according to Surrency.
Surrency said, "We neither need nor want the Salemah's money. We simply want him to acknowledge his son's son, and allow the baby to know his father's side of the family." He continued, "My wife and I are more than willing to pay for the DNA test, but Mr. Salemah will not agree to it because he is afraid that it will prove that he the grandparent of a black child." Sgt. Gary and Millie Surrency have taken initial steps in the procedure to adopt their grandson to ensure he will have basic benefits like health insurance, and in order that they may provide for his financial future.

When you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas. She was so happy to be getting somebody with good hair she didn't bother to research how these people feel about having a nigger in the woodpile--though you would think after 500 years here she would have maybe had a suspicion--but hey!
Here in St. Louis a Palestinian killed his daughter when he found out she was dating a black boy a few year back.
But let us be fair. Some of our African American sisters have walked right into an ambush when they have hooked up with some of our African brothers and found out they don't play that liberated woman sh*t--sorry Kola.
I can't believe her baby daddy didn't tell her something--she wouldn't have believed it if somebody black had--she is getting what is coming to her.

The babymomma needs to take her baby and move on - stop trying to get the paternal grandparent's approval and acceptance. I agree, she's getting the treatment she deserves, but the baby is innocent regardless of what we think about it. And the maternal grandparents need to butt out completely. They are looking like some gold-diggers. They should have taught their daughter to get married prior to having babies. Therein lies the entire problem. Now take your little illegitimate grandchild and move on, like we been doing all this time. |

I don't think she deserves such treatment. If that’s the case then I guess all the color-struck bm who have been mistreated by their racist white in-laws or framed because of lying ww deserve what they got too.
If all the bm over here weren't so color-struck and liberal about marrying the wm's throwaways or weren't just as prejudice as that Palestinian immigrant against bw then bw would have more bm to choose from. But bm act just as bad and wonder why other racist idiots don't respect us when neither do they. You have to first have compassion, love and embrace your own before others do. What's the baby's name? Did the father claim him? Does he have his name? Probably not. The proper thing would have been to get MARRIED. If the babydaddy was so happy and in love that's what he should have done. Now the babydaddy has died in his sleep. That's the exact reason why people who have children should be MARRIED. SHEMIKA, calm down. i don't worship white women at all. i said over and over that my three favorite women on earth are dominique dawes, rachel true, and bianca lawson. none of these women are white, yet i DO worship them. sure ive seen some young white females that i would get with in a heartbeat (for sex only, dating and marrying ONLY if they were so amazingly attractive that i just could not say no). i would never sell my soul do be with some white woman. but, id think about it to be with dominique dawes or rachel true. im talking about the arab animals, because that was what this thread was about. i have the understanding that our women are the most beautiful of earth. white women cant touch our women with a ten foot pole. just because i said there are some really attractive white women out there (and men i know you can back me up on that point), who i WOULD get with does not mean i worship them. as a guy i would get with ANY attractive woman (even an attractive arab woman, even though most of them are ugly).

Why would you automatically assume he didnt claim his child simply because he's non-black?
I read somewhere on blackvoices about this and in that particular article they had a picture of the man holding his baby and smiling. Think aobut it, if he refused to claim the baby would he take a picture with him smiling and holding him?
Of course people should marry before having kids but really let's be honest few americans wait for marriage before they have sex anymore. There are very few americans (black or white) who i know do that. Most people who wait for marriage are foreigners. Just because someone isn't married when they have the child doesn't mean they don't care about one another.
What makes these people's relationship any different. Is the only difference that they're an interracial couple?
I doubt most of the men here criticizing this woman and saying "she deserved what she got" would be saying the same thing if it was the other way around and the man was black. They would be compassionate towards him. Anyway, the baby didn't have a thing to do with this.

If the family really doesn't want money from the paternal grandparents, then they should cut them off! Who needs them. Otherwise they should take them to court and order the test and still cut them off!
One thing so many of us do that totally sucks is run behind other races. Running to their neighborhoods, their women, their definitions of beauty and value. Our neighborhood properties are devalued, they buy it for cheap and sell it for higher just because we don't own it anymore. Perception is reality! Black is beautiful and we are strong and brilliant; but the message I get from this story is just pitiful!!! You can believe if Salemah's daughter's baby's daddy's family was dissing them, they wouldn't go broadcasting it unless they were planning to get paid! |

Hey, if you make a baby WITHOUT marrying the guy (for whatever reason), how the hell you 'spect to be able to coerce money and a name from his parents; especially traditional, ethnocentric ones?
And I like the way they not-so-subtly allude to the possibility that the parents might have killed their own son, I guess to avoid their having to share their name and loot with some Black woman and child.
The Moral of the Story: The good Sgt. Surrency should have taught Krystal that if you expect to bone your way into some inheritance, you probably had better MARRY the guy before or soon after the baby comes...especially if the parents of her babydaddy are NOT Black. |

Actually, Wright was engaged to a black woman and the marriage was all set...until the woman had a medical check-up. Wright then found out she had congenital syphilis and refused to tell him. Plus, he preferred white women in general(in addition to unpleasant experiences with black women, though in all fairness he came up in some of the worst places--rural Jim Crow Mississippi, Memphis, and the South Side of Chicago). |

Caprical - You're correct. I don't see anything wrong with prostitution, especially since it is always going to exist. I believe that prostitution should be legalized, that the women employed as such should have access to medical insurance and care, and they should enjoy all of the same benefits that sanctioned prostitutes receive. I've said that here on numerous occasions.
As to this particular topic of discussion - there's a major difference between being a prostitute (providing someone with sexual gratification for monetary compensation) and having a child out of wedlock. And then expecting that child to be entitled to some inheritance.
There is also a major difference between taking a photograph with a baby and claiming it as your own. As in legally - signing documents of intent, giving the baby your name in a formal manner. I've never had any children out of wedlock so I am not familiar with all the technicalities involved, but I know there's some legal process whereby a man "claims" paternity of his offspring.
So your insinuation that I have some double-standard has no merit. My standards are what they are. They may not coincide with your standards, and nobody else may give a shit, but we are here discussing, these are just my opinions and beliefs, and as always you are welcome to draw your own conclusions.
And another FYI (not that it's ANY of your business) - my HUSBAND was the first man with whom I engaged in sexual activity of any kind. Okay. But again, that's just me. If the rest of y'all want to fuck whomever and have children without the benefit of marriage - that's your own business.

I'll trust your statistics ABM. But honestly - if a MAN really CARES - and I mean really cares - not the oooooh baby you sho is fine let's live together and make babies kind of care - he is going to marry you. Especially if you're pregnant with his child. Because he's going to want to protect you - FULLY. He doesn't want his children with you to be illegitimate. It's innate. If two people want to be married, all they need to do is go to the court house or wherever and just do it. Being married isn't about the wedding ceremony anyway.
