Posted on Fri, Apr. 28, 2006 2 held in brutal attack on boy, 16 THE ASSOCIATED PRESS SPRING - This report contains graphic descriptions of violence. A 16-year-old Hispanic boy was beaten, sodomized and left for dead because two other teens at an unsupervised house party were offended that he had tried to kiss a 12-year-old girl, authorities said Thursday. The attackers were Anglo and shouted racial slurs "associated with being Hispanic" at the boy during the 10- to 15-minute beating, Harris County sheriff's officers said. The victim lay behind the house for more than 10 hours before he was found and someone called an ambulance. The boy remained in critical condition five days after the attack. Keith Robert Turner, 17, and David Henry Tuck, 18, have been arrested in the attack. The attackers forced the boy out of the Saturday night house party, beat him and sodomized him with a plastic pipe from a patio table umbrella, sheriff's Lt. John Denholm said. Bleach had been poured on the boy in an attempt to destroy DNA evidence, Denholm said. "His face was extremely swollen. He had blood all over. He looked awful. It was just sad," said Nancy Benavides, who lives next door to the house where the attack took place. She saw the victim taken away by an ambulance Sunday morning. The victim, who was not identified, suffered severe internal injuries, cuts on his chest and head injuries. "It's about 50-50 whether he lives or dies at this point," Harris County prosecutor Mike Trent said. Investigators said no adults were supervising the party, where they found evidence of marijuana and Xanax use. Spring is a middle-class, largely Anglo suburb of 36,000 residents about 10 miles north of Houston. Its population is about 18 percent Hispanic. Denholm said the 12-year-old girl was Hispanic. Benavides said teens frequent the house where the attack took place but were never loud. She said that Saturday night's party was not disruptive and that she didn't hear anything unusual. "I feel bad. I wish I would have been able to hear something so we could have helped," she said. Denholm said investigators believe the attack was prompted by the age difference between the 12-year-old girl and the 16-year-old victim, whom the two defendants thought tried to kiss the girl. "The two suspects were being mean and vicious and looking for any excuse to stomp somebody," he said. Denholm said the 12-year-old girl and her older brother witnessed the attack but made no effort to stop it. Turner and Tuck face charges of aggravated sexual assault, investigators said. Trent said they face from five years to life in prison if convicted. Prosecutors are checking whether Tuck has a felony conviction as a juvenile, which could increase his minimum sentence to 15 years. They are also considering hate-crime charges. Denholm said that if the victim dies, the charges would be upgraded to capital murder because a homicide occurred during the commission of a sexual assault. Authorities set bail at $100,000 for Turner. Tuck's bail was initially set at $20,000, but it was revoked Thursday during a court hearing. He was being held in the Harris County Jail. Turner had not yet made his initial court appearance. Charles Hinton, Tuck's attorney, did not return a telephone call Thursday. It was not immediately known whether Turner had an attorney. http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=local&id=4121769 ___________________________________________________________________ My heart goes out to this young man. I'm starting to hate white people. First Katrina, then the Duke case, and now this. This has got to stop. I'm ready to stick something up Moonsign's stank ass.

What the hell is wrong with white people in Texas? It seems like some of the most horrific crimes are committed by people from little hick Texan towns. Anglo? WTF? |

Tonya - First of all hispanics are white. This is a white-on-white crime. Why did you post this here - because you feel the rest of us aren't capable of reading the internet news for ourselves? Where's your post about your Duke rape "victim" and how she claimed that she was gang raped by three men before? What happened to your outrage about her? Or has that worn thin? Is today's outrage new outrage or additional outrage - because you've got a lot of rage Tonya - and it's not good for you. And why in the world would you threaten physical violence against Moonsigns? You need to go smoke a cigarette or something and chill out, because you're not making any sense lately. |

"These "hate" crimes are committed all over the country by bigots of all races." And I understand that. Perfectly. But I said horrific (re: Andrea Yates, Jasper County dragging, etc) It was an observation prefaced by "seems"....that Texas is a definite "hot bed" for horrific crimes. |

NOT! Texas is no hotbed. Texas happens to be the largest state in the continental U.S. It has the second largest population in the U.S. after California. More ppl = more crime. |

And all they had to do is catch some agent orange in Vietnam. Posted by Tonya on Tuesday, April 04, 2006 - 08:42 pm: Kool Room Archives. Come on babe! I had to hit the archives to pull that shit. Ever since that day, you've been trying to get back at me. But I won't let you. Because it's too much fun watching you squabble and squirm and act dumb. Besides... you should have gotten back at me then. You slow ass retard. BACK ON TOPIC: Now that you mentioned it, Va_sis, it does seem like Texas is the worse. Could it be because it's one of the most racist states? last I heard, its laws were among the most racist. |

Hot bed or not, large or small, with apologies to Rustang, Texas is notorious for sentencing and enforcing the death penalty. Its hardline, bible-thumping white folk are all subscribers to the execution of the month club, as is befitting the judgmental, intolerant, religious-right mentality they typify. And, of course, they gave us George W. Bush. |

Actually Tonya - I wasn't even thinking about it. Not trying to get back about anything. Just stating facts. Trust me - your posts aren't making much sense. All that crap you write to and about Moonsigns is "moronic." You get tired of being put on hold for fifteen minutes? Come on - after three or four minutes a person with half a brain would hang up and dial again. But I'm a slow ass retard? And it's funny that you would dredge up your old nigger bitch slam, because that didn't make sense either. You had absolutely no reason to insult me out of the blue for no reason. All I did was post a pic of Cynthia McKinney looking crazy. I didn't even post a comment. And I have never insulted you - ever. Never called you out your name. You have further demonstrated my point. Tonya - your posts make no sense. And your insults are tired and lame. Again, what happened to your outrage about your Duke rape "victim?" You need to maintain your focus. Go smoke a cigarette, drink some coffee, a beer, anything. Get a grip! |

Poor Tonya. Does it seem to you that I have run out of things to say? That's not gonna happen. Since you don't know me personally let me tell you that I'm a real chatterbox. You don't want to get me on the phone, GirlFriend, because I'll talk your ears off. Both of them. And you won't get a word in edgewise. Or is that edgeways? I wonder. So, have you had your cigarette yet? Are you going to respond about your Duke "victim." Or have you lost interest in that and taken up the cause of the hispanic "victim." Perhaps you should become a victim's advocate - since you're always so busy trying to defend all the innocents (noun) and injustices of the world. Darn - I said victim three times in one paragraph. No, seriously, Mzuri, I apologize for what I said about you and your family. I still stand by the subtext, however, because I don't think you should have gone off on McKinney like that, especially trying to do it on the sly. But I should have realized that you're not the type of person who I can respond to in a way, I feel, was accordingly; for that I'm wrong. Now at the same time, Sistah... I hope you don't mind me advising you that when you slight someone the way you did Congresswoman McKinney, you should be prepared to have your reaction countered in a similar way; because around here we assume that people are prepared to take what they dish out, or else they wouldn't dish it. I'm sure you're not going to agree with ANY of my assessments, lol; nevertheless I apologize and I'll *TRY* to be more selective with the way I address you. Anyhway, stay cool. I tried to tell you folks that the good people of Harris county are crazy. As a quick refresher, Harris COUNTY sends more people to death row than 48 of the 50 STATES.More people are executed from this county than the entire state of California.More than Mississippi, more than louisiana. From one county. There is an astounding number of people with permits to carry a pistol.I have never even heard of a place that holds life as cheap as they do here. They understand perfectly that there have dozens of thousands of women and children needlessly killed in Iraq, but when you point that out, they look at you like 'What's your point?'The prosecutor is hoping that this boy dies so he can push a couple more teen-agers through the execution mill.I've been watching these people for a long time and they are just plain insane here. |

Ms. Tonya - You are very sweet to post this. And I apologize for being mean to you. But not about Cynthia's hair. You know it's whack. It's not as if she's some record label CEO or an independent executive where she can just go and do her own thing. She represents her constituents and she should look professional at all times. But anyway, I'm much older than you so we see things differently. Let's argue about something more relevant next time. And Mr. Rustang - I done told you umpteen times, get your butt out of Harris county! Come to El Paso - we are very friendly and nice here. We have lots of luxury automobiles for you to fix and paint and detail, and lots of jillionaires too. You'd really like it here. You have an open invitation to visit or move here anytime - and I'll even let you bring your wife. LOL!!! |

Mzuri, I've been to El Paso more than a couple of times and I would tend to agree that it would be a much nicer town to live in.Sadly, there would be a little more involved than just packing a suitcase and heading out there. There are those pesky employees with their even more pesky families that are sort of counting on me to be here. One guy has been with me for 23 years. And I've figured out how to avoid being murdered, assaulted, beaten down by the police or executed around here. The devil you know and all of that stuff. But it is astounding how mean-spirited and ignorant the people around here are. |

That's a cute little cartoon. I could see Gov Perry sending that message to the condemned for real. He probably writes it on his death warrants. Anyway, I know it's hard to relocate when you own an established business. My trade is portable so I can travel and go where I want. I prefer not to be tied down. I like it here because the cost of living is very reasonable. It's actually cheap compared to some other cities. Real estate, groceries, clothes - everything costs less here than anywhere else. But life is what you make it - as long as you're happy that's all that matters. |

LOL, Rustang. Actually, there are a couple of white Texans who I have an endearing affection for. One is former Democratic governor, Anne Richards, a dyed-in-the wool liberal who I always identified with because she is my contemporary and she never took herself too seriously. She was also famous for telling bawdy jokes. I also like newspaper columnist Mollie Ivins who never fails to take ol Dubya and his cronies to task. |

To answer Mzuri. Cynthia DOES represent her constituents. In DeKalb County, Georgia. More nappy-haired, Afro'ed, dread-locked people than I've seen anywhere else in my life. Back on topic, hispanics are white....unfortunately for hispanics, "whites" don't think so. It's the same in MS with jews. A jewish guy would get along great there...until he leaves his house in a yarmulke. My first boyfriend was a jewish boy....who had to go to the "black" school. (Yes, school's were still segregated in the 80's and early 90's.) |

So you're saying that nobody combs their hair in DeKalb? All the Black folks just walk around with their hair looking any old kind of way because they are unkempt. And they don't expect their Congresswoman to look professional and well groomed so that she will be taken seriously. NOT! Did you all see Ms. McKinney's latest interview on CNN this morning? When she walked out in protest but she still had a live mic attached and she made unflattering comments against her own top aide - Coz. The woman has lost it. And she's way past overdue for a salon appointment. There's plenty of salons in DeKalb so somebody needs to hook a sista up. They need to put some VitaPointe on her head or something!!! |

Why do you equate Afros, locs, and nappy hair with being uncombed? There are salons in Dekalb county (and Fulton) where the strongest "chemical" they have is shampoo. Nappy haired women spend just as much money and time in salons as do other women. To those who are used to straighter looking hair, she looks uncombed. To anyone who's worn a COMBED afro and had humidity or any change of weather set in, it was a bad hair day. Try combing an afro into place and walking out midday in the middle of April...it does get out of hand. This hair issue is quite interesting to me. I'm on a hair site on the web and I've been talking to a woman who's hair is falling out (from overprocessing). She's decided that she's going to let it grow natural, and was actually disappointed and SURPRISED that her new hair is growing in (gasp) NAPPY!! LOL She's in her twenties and has been so brainwashed into keeping her hair "chemicalized" that she actually had no idea that her hair was as nappy as it is. Maybe I just don't get it because I prefer the way women look with natural hair to the way they look with straight hair. |

From my experience with my own hair, when I've worn it in a fro I either picked or raked it and it always looked nice and neat. And when I've locked my hair, obviously I didn't comb it. Same with braids. I did not infer that ppl with natural styles do not comb their hair. I've posted that Ms. McKinney looks unkempt. And you're defending her by claiming that DeKalb has more nappy-haired, Afro'ed, dread-locked people than you've seen anywhere else in your life, as if that's an excuse for Ms. McKinney's obvious lack of personal grooming. She needs to trim that natural shit, put some Vitapointe on it and style it!!! And when she finishes with all of that, she needs to visit a dentist!!! The heffa is crazy. Vote for JOHNSON!!!

Where I live there is alot of Mexican on Black crime. Mexicans can be some of the biggest bigots as well as white ppl. Mexicans will have get the right to stay in this country, because when the white mans sees that his #'s are being threatened he will incorporate other groups into his status. Also would this issue be on a Hispanic board if it had happened to a black man? |

Mzuri, my hair always looked nice natural, too.... in the mornings and before humidity hit it. By midday during the spring months, I was reaching into my bag for a headscarf. Ms. McKinney's hair is much shorter than mine was. I can only imagine how crazy I must have looked with my wild hair. I don't particularly like her hair, but she does and that's what's important. I've somewhat been in her situation: the only girl in school with non-processed hair who was called all kinds of names even by girls whose hair was too short to roll with rice because they insisted on chemicals. So, I support a woman's right to wear her hair as she wants it. I especially respect that she doesn't care what anyone else says about it. To Serenasailor, you have a very good, valid point. And besides, I don't care how misguided you seem sometimes, I love you still. Hispanic men in Atlanta are always ALL UP IN our faces. They don't care if she's 8 months pregnant, bald or has a gimp leg, they want her. |
