Saw it yesterday. It was uneven and badly edited I thought--too much Dave, too little concert but some fine stirring performances--I enjoyed dead prez, the Erykah Badu/Jill Scott duet, Mos Def and Talib and the roots the best. |

Most of his black fans (black men and young black children) know about his Asian wife/Children--and it doesn't make one bit of difference. He'd have to date/marry an authentic black woman for black folks to talk smack--sad right?
Black children have been reared to see Chapelle's relationship as normal...even the ones with racist parents who can't stand "The Man" and them Asians. They are taught (by black women as well as black men) to see Chappelle’s wife as an upgrade to the High yellow black female that he dumped for her (Kola Boof). As for the old-heads, the black men, they are known for contributing ONE THING to the rearing of black children: Teaching them how to hate themselves.

I agree. I saw the movie when it first came out. Very weak! It was nothing like I thought it was going to be. My advice: Pass on this one!

Thank you very much. Your comment is on point. Who he sleeps with, dates or marries has no bearing on anything nor is it anyone's damn business. I think he is very talented and funny. His wife has zero relevance to the effectiveness of his humor and his ability to entertain people.

block party did suck, but on the issue of whose david is married to .... i personally could care less because when i watch dave it's to be entertained not to get into his personal life. like most people who go to comedy concerts or watch other forms of entertainment, they feel the same way. some people always have something to say about another persons relationship ... do you know if she was with dave before he reached success? do you know how long that he and his wife have been together? not every situation is the same for everybody, i seriously doubt that david sought out only pacific islanders to date (where not talking about wesley snipes)... but guess what if he did then that's his option to do so. |

I enjoyed Chapelle's Block Party. I liked the music. The comedy. The people. But then, I didn't really have any expections or anything.

My children are Black.
Both of my and my wife’s parents are Black.
My and my wife’s siblings are Black.
My and my wife’s siblings’ spouses & children are Black.

You know something, Tonya? Every time I have heard a black woman talk like you do about this she either is with a white man while she is doing it, has been with one and he dogged her out, or sooner or later she is with one.
I myself think it is better to be with your own kind--but then plenty of black men and women are with their own kind and their own kind wind up sending them to the morgue.

Look. If Chapelle was frollicking about extolling the virtues of Asian wives or something I might think differently about this. But, to my knowledge, at least, he's done nothing of the sort. Hell. I've never even seen a picture of his wife or kids. So I just don't see why/how his family life should be made fodder for some kind of rhethorical lynchmob.
I think Black foks as a WHOLE would be better off sticking together too. But I grow weary and suspect of of vilifying foks SIMPLY because they date/marry interracially.
Because I think its foolhardy for Black women to on one hand espouse how they should be free to say and do what they want to do YET complain about Black men doing the same.
PS: A girl I used to date in college (a HBC down South, btw) used to pop-off ad infinitium about how Black foks need to stick together, about how much she loathe White foks, etc. Then what does she do, go off to grad school out east and marry some White New Englander. And that was BEFORE all this talk about there being a shortage of Black men, Black men chasing White women, etc.
I met her husband once. He seemed to be a very nice guy. And as far as I know they've happily raised a family together. |

Seems like another one has gotten into the bubble with Kola. Will this never-ending drama of what color someone sleeps with, marries or is friends with stop. Not all men are so inconsiderate or as adepth as too the thinking Tonya gives them credit for. I don't hear many of them telling children don't get with a black, green or blue woman/man. They look for cute, fine, stacked, built, established, etc. And why wouldn't one see it as normal...too belong to a family unit...regardless of color. Don't children see enough of fatherless house holds and poverty to look to something better. Perhaps, your world is all black, no white boss or corp signing your check, some black man gives you electric and gas, runs your bank, grocery or yes gave you a loan for a house or car? So maybe, you are lucky enough to not be bothered in your daily life for it is full of accomodating black people. You don't have a need to interact. But in reality- it is not the way for the rest of the world. Now where is it you say you live, what town that is all black run, with all black Ossie and Harriet blacks? I want to visit. But I won't be visiting your bubble of denial. Seems like there are a lot of people in this bubble of limited air. Once it runs out...who you gonna run too...the black race...please.

I liked the block party . . . i thought the production represented what it probably would have been like if it was produced by some broke azz people and I wasn't mad...it wasn't that serious!
It was fun and organic . . . and I liked the grit of it!
I could careless of whom David Chapelle would marry. He doesn't hate black people or black women, as far as I know, so its fine with me.
I think if its not self-hate, then I cool with it!

Since you answered, yet again, the reality is that at least you are not delusional enough to dispute the childessness. LOL! Btw, if you have a moment hit me on my email.
