Why do we let these degenerates dictate the terms of the debate? Now accusations of racism are met with the term "Playing the race card" as though this is some kind of game. Well the last time I looked neither I nor any other black person has any kind of card to play that can get them over. And I look and Black people themselves use the term. There IS no hope! |

I quoted ("") the term purely to make a point on another thread--but I do hear where you are coming from, and I totally agree. |

It is some kind of a game! It's a game of buzz words and rhetoric. Surely you don't think that the race debate in this country isn't about strategizing and attempting to put one's oppponet at a disadvantage. And so it goes. |

Yes, and the rules of the game keep changing. New rule: say the words 'race card', and all of the injustices your opponent has and will endure become inconsequential in any game scenario. And so it goes. |

Chris, Maybe Black foks should counter "race card" with the "White man card", "White woman card", "Rich daddy & trustfund baby card", etc. |

"Well the last time I looked neither I nor any other black person has any kind of card to play that can get them over. That's not true. I've seen it happen many times. |

The entire concept of race was created by whites and for the benefit of whites. They are the ones who have been playing the "race card" for socioeconomic gain, and to assign value to themselves and others based upon their own likeness all along. (A god complex) They made up the rules and they are the benefactors. Part of this tendency to accuse blacks of everything is designed to conceal their own cruelites by projecting them onto their victims. |

I am fascinated by this whole phenomenon and wrote about it a while back here http://blog.lib.umn.edu/perry032/impossible/racial_gamesmanship.html. FWIT, I have started describing folks who make that claim as playing the 'playing the race card' card! |

That's a good one, you have to call them on what they are doing at the time! |

You know. You can say the same thing about the phrase "light skin v. dark skin." Issues concerning colorism are not games either. They're not the things you saw in School Daze. Thousands of victims did not suffer in Katrina because of some school yard game. Yet people go around using the phrase "light skin v. dark skin" as "buzz words" to "put one's opponent at a disadvantage" and to render all injustices endured inconsequential. And so it goes. We have had it done to us. And now we are doing it to each other. There IS no hope!

The race card is a tool of convenience, not one of merit. |
