Will the United States launch "Operation Quiet Thunder" by surprise and successfully squelch North Korea's anticipated ICBM missile launch before the world knows about it? |

I'd say so. As clandestine as it may be. We know that only the Western Powers are allowed to have nukes. Hypocritical bastards. |

Not if he knows what's good for him. Americans are not trying to hear another war - NOT FROM HIM. |

No. First of all if they could destroy the launch site and this missle that would not stop the North Koreans from building and launching another. Second they North Koreans have nukes. No one can be sure that they wouldn't try to unload on Seoul or Tokyo. Third if they didn't use nukes they have thousands of artillery pieces and conventional missles which can reach many targets in South Korea, including Seoul--they do not have to invade the South to inflict a tremendous loss on its economy. Fourth the Chinese and the Russians are really behind this--they will come down on the side of the North Koreans in any showdown as they did in 1950. Either the U.S. and Japan will buy them off or they will bite the bullet while the launch goes off. This is the fruit of that idiot tossing the North Koreans into this Axis of Evil with Iran and Iraq--if the Iranians and North Koreans are not cooperating in an effort to keep the U.S. off balance, they know with the U.S. up to its ass in Iraq its options have been limited. |

Maybe the only way to stop the North Koreans is to leave them alone. When everbody has a gun then nobody shoots. Are they really so stupid as to trigger what might become a nuclear holocaust if retaliation ensues??? It's possible they just want to be on a equal footing with the other major powers in the world. Little Kim just wants to show that he has balls. |

Out here on the west coast, we're just hoping the missile defense systems in Alaska and California can intercept if they do launch. I saw a simulation on the news yesterday and the window of opportunity to launch a successful counter measure is only a few minutes. Whatever happened to don't shoot til you see the whites of their eyes. It's like the race is starting, and we've used up all of our gas showing how bad we are by chasing a rabbit around the track. Only much worse. This is such crap! We're hoping no one is crazier than Bush! |

Obviously, Kim Jung Il didn't learn from his father's mistakes. One would think that after Pearl Harbor (- Nagasaki, Hiroshima) and New York City (- Afghanistan, Iraq), any nation contemplating attacking the U.S. would get the message. But then again, no one ever said that common sense was an intrinsic quality. |

Didn't Pakistan produce a nuclear Bomb over the protest of the super powers? Did they use it? No. We haven't heard anything about it since. Lil Kim is just bluffing. It's a male thang. |

Cynique -- Kim may be bluffing, but when it comes to Plutonium, no reference of anykind is a joke. In any language, the A-bomb IS "Game Over". |

Nels: He doesn't give a damn about his population just like our rulers don't. His honor is at stake, dammit, and if he has to get several million of his countrymen killed well that's just tough--just like our rulers feel. He will be safe in Beijing or Vladivostok when the crap goes down--just like our leaders would be safe in the event of a nuclear war--and furthermore I bet a large portion of his population is down with it. You can't believe a damn thing our government tells you about North Korea--for the last 20 years they have been saying every year that the North Koreans are starving and Kim will collapse at any minute--now they are getting ready to build an intercontinental missle. Them guys sure can do a lot on an empty stomach-- |

That missle defense system can't hit the broad side of a barn--the only time hits were registered was when the test was rigged-- Why is everybody freaking? For years we lived on a Russian bullseye--I recall back in the 60's being told that we here in St. Louis had 30 nuclear warheads targetted on our town alone--kind of reassuring in a way--we knew we were dead in the event of an exchange-- The U.S. is now mostly a political/financial/military/industrial/intelligence complex. Throw in the energy and communications sectors which are tied in to it and this is about all of it. It needs a war now and then and a nuke on a city is big money for the construction companies. They got plenty of Latinos to move in if we get blasted to hell and take over-- The top dogs by the way know nothing will happen to them--sooo |

What we really need to be worrying about are the natural disasters which render man helpless. Scientists just yesterday said the St Andreas fault is over due to do whatever it does in regard to destroying California, as is the Yellow Stone park caldron, the underground eruption of which scientists claim would cause, among other things, a thick layer of ash to cover the entire North American continent. (is that a sentence, or what? LOL) |
