I sent an article posted here about Kola Boof to a friend and this was the response I got. Is it true or just more unfounded Kola hating?
Yes, I am fully aware of that nutcase. I sent out a couple of emails about her in March. She's the nutcase who puts naked pictures of herself on the cover of her books. She also claimed to have been Bin Laden's mistress!!! Most people who have done any research on her consider her a total fraud, and perhaps a mind-control victim. Her inconsistent rant for pro-blackness in one breath and her seemingly pathological hatred for black men in the next make no sense. Her passionate diatribes against lighter skinned blacks and so called mixed blacks smacks of the same mindset of race hate rhetoric advocated by Nazis and white racists.
Here's the information I provided about her back in March.Read this carefully. In one section, there is some research that proves that Boof is a lying opportunist:
Kola Boof does seem to be a strange cookie. She says she was sexually abused and raped, yet she really does seem to use her body to gain publicity. She has her own section on a message board administered by the African American Literature Book Club,and many of her posts are not only self-promotional-- they seem weird. In one she brags about her "first cover photo" on the cover of a "literary magazine" published in Nigeria. As you will see from the image that precedes this quote, there isn't much that is very "literary" about her "cover photograph." Boof was "nice enough" to provide the photograph without any of the magazine lettering on it.
When asked about this odd strategy, Boof responds that it is, in affect,"African tradition" to "bare ones breasts to God." A 'convenient' answer to say the least. Later in the thread, however, she admits that "The Nigerian WOMAN editor and the black woman novelist who interviewed me for the article-----asked me if I would be willing to pose topless on the cover." Maybe I'm just a bit cynical, but it seems Boof is having a little trouble getting her line of bull straight. One user even suggested that it looked like her head had been pasted onto someone else's body-- I got EXACTLY the same feeling every time I saw a nude picture of Boof. There is something about her nude images that give me the willies-- it's the expressions on her face; they seem inappropriate and out of place: like a victim going through the motions. Her clothed pictures are not much different, but a little better. Of course, it is not that unusual for sexual victims to develop "interesting" approaches to their own sex lives. I have seen this before.
As a multi-media artist myself, the cover image seems a bit amateurish in concept and rendering for my tastes. And the more I read Boof's unedited comments on this message board, the more she seems like a "radical activist" with a childlike mind. She needs shielding-- a good lawyer and a protective agent might help, if this strong-willed women would only listen to them.
Why did the African American Literature Book Club give Boof her own section on their message board? Did they jump on a celebrity bandwagon? Your guess is as good as mine.
Ms Boof also stated in interviews for example: "I am a political activist, a soldier in Dr. John Garang's Sudanese People's Liberation Army". (6) It subsequently emerged that she had made a number of other interesting claims. She claimed, for example, that she was the daughter of an Egyptian archaeologist and a Somalian princess, and that she had lived in Omdurman, Sudan, until she was 10 or 11, in 1978. Ms Boof claimed that in 1978 "my parents...were murdered for speaking up against slavery and the brutish Islamic government of Sudan". (7) She claimed that "murahleen" tribesmen had killed them in front of her. She claims that her Egyptian grandmother then put her up for adoption and that through UNICEF she travelled to London and was taken in by an Ethiopian family who eventually gave her up because, she said, they thought she might be a witch. She says she was then adopted by a black family in Washington-DC in 1980. (8)
Ms Boof also claimed that the Sudan People's Liberation Army was in existence as early as 1977, and that as a little girl she had attended SPLA meetings.
The Mundane Truth
Every one of these claims unravelled under examination. The facts were far less interesting. Mr Jamal Ibrahim, the deputy chief of mission at the Sudanese embassy in Britain, wrote an article critical of Ms Boof and claims that she had previously made, an article published in 'Al- Sharq Al-Awsat' in September 2002. In this article he criticised her "falsehood and dishonesty" in previous claims. Ms Boof subsequently claimed that this article was in fact a fatwa, inaccurately stating that
fatwa is "a contract for assassination". (9)
Unlike Ms Boof, 'The New York Times' took the trouble to confirm the claims made to her by the SPLA in London. The newspaper spoke to Sheikh Omar Bakri, a senior judge of the Islamic sharia court in London, and someone noted for his forthright views. Ms Boof claimed that Bakri had been party to the fatwa. He stated that "nobody issued a fatwa against Kola Boof". (10) The Islamic judge went on to state: "I know she was criticized by a Muslim official in London, but he isn't in a position to issue a fatwa." This was confirmed by Mr Ibrahim himself, who said the claim was "bizarre and baseless" and that: "My own view is that she wants to make use of this to help her in selling her books. It is a bizarre exercise in public relations." (11) Mr Ibrahim did criticise Ms Boof in his article, and there would appear to be considerable grounds for legitimate criticism, but as 'The New York Times' observed "criticism isn't the same as a fatwa". It would appear that the SPLA in London deliberately misrepresented the issue.
Unravelling the Lies
Ms Boof's claims about her early life are similarly flawed. She alleged that murahleen tribesmen killed her parents in Omdurman. These horsemen are only found in southern Kordofan, several hundred miles away from Omdurman. It is the equivalent in American terms of being attacked in a Washington-DC suburb by a band of Oklahoma cattlemen. She also claimed that the SPLA were in existence in 1977. It is also a simple matter of record that the SPLA was founded only in late 1983. (12) Ms Boof's claim that her father was murdered in 1978 for speaking "up against...the brutish Islamic government of Sudan" similarly jars with reality. In 1978 Sudan was resolutely secular, governed by President Jaafar Nimeiri, a close American ally whose government was one of the largest recipients of international American economic and military assistance. The present Islamic government in Sudan only came to power in 1989.
Ms Boof made a number of other claims about herself. In August 2002, she claimed to have been shot at outside Los Angeles by Arab Muslim gunmen, and that she shot back. Boof further claimed to be under FBI protection. The New York Times reported that the FBI "had no knowledge of Ms. Boof". (13)
Ms Boof was also said by 'The New York Times' to have "told flamboyant stories about her life in Egypt and Morocco, where, she said she was a B-movie actress and a high level prostitute, operating in luxury hotels..." It was during this time in Morocco that Ms Boof also claimed to have had an affair with Osama bin Laden in 1996. She elaborated on this alleged affair in a January 2003 statement when she claimed that it was a four month sexual relationship in Morocco. She had met bin Laden in a Senegalese restaurant "which was the only place in Marrakech where they knew how to cook lion's meat" (one of her "favorite" dishes). She claimed that she subsequently became "Osama's mistress" and that she had "lounged about in silk and diamonds". (14) One of the most watched men in the world, there is no record whatsoever of bin Laden being in Morocco in 1996.
Ms Boof's somewhat elaborate claims began to be actively challenged by the end of 2002. The New York Timesexamined her allegations in some depth. (16) In an interview with the newspaper, Ms Boof admitted to being manipulative: "I can't deny that I'm a conniving person...I have to manipulate the system, and I don't mind if you publish that..." The newspaper discredited the fatwa claim. Ms Boof was dropped by her publisher at the end of 2002. And, despite having been warmly embraced and extensively publicised by the anti-Sudan lobby within the United States and elsewhere, Ms Boof's claims soon became even too outrageous for all but the diehard fringe. The SPLA has distanced itself from Ms Boof. The 'New York Times' reported that the SPLA "embraced her and then backed away, as Ms. Boof's personal, if not literary credentials have been called into question."

PBG - As someone who works in the industry, I'm sure that you are aware that anyone can publish a press release about just about anything. Kola's publisher (or Kola) issuing a press release doesn't lend credibility to her, nor does it disprove that she is a fraud. And I'm not saying that she is - but a press release proves absolutely nothing. Why did she post a link to the NBC website in her press release? Did she have NBC's permission to do that? And where is she mentioned by NBC on their website? |

I also find it strange that she is so hysterically pro black yet she hates black men. Her ongoing rants and vitriol against black men is pathetically hypocritical. She preaches about the evils of racism, Arabs and whites yet she cannot stand black men. And her obsession with skin color and blacks of mixed heritage borders on psychotic! There is nothing consistent about her misguided racism. The woman suffers from a bi-polar condition and needs medical attention.

What never seems to register with Kola is that it's not about jealousy, it's her endless and manipulative self-promotion that turns people off. |

PBG - I don't understand why when I asked you a simple question, or to backup your claims, why can't you just provide a reasonable answer instead of retorting with some lame insult. Okay, you don't like me. Either don't respond or answer my post. You came here and posted claims about Kola, when the press release you cited was probably written by Kola herself. If you've ever issued a press release (which I have for my business) then you know that it should contain something newsworthy - so that the newswires, newspapers, etc. would want to pick up the story. Not something that reads like this:

Kola Boof, who was born in Omdurman, Sudan to slain Egyptian anti-slavery activist Harith Bin Farouk and escaped in 1979 by adoption to an African American couple in Washington, D.C. is the author of seven books published in eight countries, the latest of which is her autobiography, "Diary of a Lost Girl" (ISBN: 0-9712019-8-6). Rumor has it that Boof's upcoming novel, "The Sexy Part of the Bible" will be entered for the National Book Award next year by Random House.
Unfortunately, there has been controversy for the North African beauty. In 2002, she nearly lost her American citizenship when the United States suspected her of being a terrorist after it was revealed that she had been the mistress of Osama Bin laden in 1996, but through Morocco's Prince Fabrizzio Ruspoli in 2003, it was quickly proven that Miss Boof's relationship with Bin Laden was against her will. Boof, in fact, had been denounced as a "traitor" to Sudan and the Arab world, and was ordered to be beheaded by a Sharia court in Khartoum (U.N. 2003), because of the perceived anti-Arab, anti-Islamic tone of her books. It should be noted that Boof was born Muslim, is half-Arab and starred as "Naima Kitar" in more than 40 Arabic B-pictures in Egypt and Morocco.
Though it hasn't been decided in what capacity Boof will write for the show, "Days of Our Lives" can be seen weekdays at 1 pm eastern/12 pacific on NBC.

Yes, ABM, having dutifully lent his assistance in securing the NBA title for the Miami Heat, I'm sure somewhere God is looking down on a soap opera and bestowing on it the "blessings" of kola boof's "wondrous" writing. Every person who has a book published by a reputable publishing house is a good writer.And there are thousands of people out there who this description fits and some of them post here. Every script writer or screen writer has to be good or they wouldn't have a job. The journalistic media abounds with talented writers. Why is it that when anybody shines the light of reality on Kola, they are immediately accused by you and her of being jealous or a hater? Whatever. Oh, give it a rest, ABM. I repeat that Oprah Winfrey sets the standard for me. I readily admit that I am jealous of her and wish I could lead the life of luxury that she does. Being 6 foot 3 inches tall and undergoing extensive lipsuction and plastic surgery is not something I aspire to. Let me be perfectly honest Cynique, Moonsigns and Mzuri. I have truly had my doubts (huge doubts) about many different stories regarding Kola's past life experiences and her credibility.
What I am trying to point out to you three ladies, however, is that "the way" you word your contempt for her is very often what makes people like me not give a damn what she's done (or may have lied about) or how wrong she may be. Your wording, even you guys can't see it, betrays nothing but your contempt and hostility. There isn't a shred of sincerity that people get from what you're saying.
Your posts make people who ordinarily wouldn't care about the subject, become incredibly protective and supportive of the target of your hostility, because after all, everyone in the world puts poor Kola down and she just keeps on rising. She becomes a symbol to people of the downtrodden hated "underdog" spat upon but still cheered on by people like me--possibly for no other reason than rebellion against people like you.
Can any of you comprehend that,and I just wonder if maybe just a little, ABM is also reacting from the place I just mentioned as well?

PBG - Just because I question the veracity of your claims does not make me a poor jealous shrew. I can promise you that I'm not jealous of Kola. And there is no contempt in my tone. I'm simply questioning your motives. Do you have any way to prove that the things that Kola attests about her life story are true???
I got the part about Kola writing for DOOL. I told her it was great when she first revealed those news, and I think it's great now. I even tuned in to DOOL on Thursday - although I'm not a soap opera person.
Most of the links that you have posted here prove nothing. You provided links to blogs, personal web pages, and press releases as if we're all a bunch of stupid niggers that think that just because something is on the "INTERNET" it must be true. And for someone who works in the news industry - I'm sure you know that blogs, personal web sites, etc. are not where credible news are derived from.
To be honest, I'm really not that interested in Kola. I continue to post to this topic in order to respond to your retorts. Why do you call me names simply because I question the validity of your claims?
Here's something that I found at Kola's guest book, written by someone else, not me:

Or if the things that I claimed to be accurate seemed preposterous and far-fetched to others. Y'all are crazy, entertaining but, crazy. See I was supposed to be building web pages but got caught up in this thread -- hence a 1 hour digression that I can ill afford -- oh well...
Kola has her own board on AALBC.com because she is a prodigious poster, opinionated, passionate, controversial, an excellent writer, a supported of AALBC.com, and she wanted to do it. Besides if I did not give her her own board I think Thumper would have killed her or me (smile).
To be clear; I do not agree with everything Kola says. Of course this should go without saying, but lesser minds often have difficultly distinguishing what Troy might think with what Kola writes. I also do not agree with all of Kola's tactics and use of language -- particularly the obscenities. But Kola is an adult and does not need my approval.
I tell my daughters all the time "people can say anything", I'm not trying to teach them to be cynical, but to understand that you simply can't take, at face value, everything someone says. As I've become more exposed to news stories I also very well, from experience, that you can not believe everything you read in the press. This is most disturbing to me (but that is topic for another post).
NTFS says " Unlike Ms Boof, 'The New York Times' took the trouble to confirm the claims made to her by the SPLA in London". Now this might be true but I'll tell you something else: I was also interviewed for that New York Times article. I the told the NY Times reporter that Kola was the best selling author on the site at the time (http://books.aalbc.com/2002_by_month.htm). She asked if I could send her a copy of Kola's book. I told her, "No, I'd sold all of the copies Kola sent me". A few days after the story ran. The reporter left a voice mail asking if Kola did in fact actually have a book in print?! I was astonished, admitted naive, but nonetheless astonished. The reporter, apparently, had failed to verify, one of the easiest things to verify -- the existence of a book. Now this was not some obscure article; titled; "Fatwa Victim or a Fraud" was on the cover, above the fold, of the of the NY Times Arts section.
A smart guy once told me "unless you are getting you news from 9 different sources you are being lied to". NTFS, simply put, just because is stated as fact, in the NY Times does not make it true or above question.
Look, time reveals all. It will be plain, to anyone interested, in a few weeks weather this soap opera story is true.
Hey has anyone, on these boards, ever accused ABM of being Kola? Just curious ;-)

I'm disgusted that you would even go there about Kola's parents.
That is just the lowest.
One thing The New York Times article DID PROVE was Kola's adoption through Unicef and that her parents had been murdered in front of her. She was adopted by an African American couple.
I can cerainly understand why Kola may have a screw loose, because when I was six, I was playing with dolls and going to the park with my parents. Not watching them be shot down in front of me.
