Ice Cube Joins Voices Against Oprah Winfrey AP David Livingston, Getty Images Oprah has not invited Cube to her show, despite promoting many of his projects. "Maybe she's got a problem with hip-hop." Talk About It: Post Your Thoughts NEW YORK (May 26) - Rappers Ludacris and 50 Cent have dissed Oprah Winfrey. Now, Ice Cube has a beef with the talk show queen. "I've been involved in three projects pitched to her, but I've never been asked to participate," the rapper-actor tells FHM magazine in its July issue, on newsstands June 6. "For 'Barbershop,' she had Cedric the Entertainer and Eve on, but I wasn't invited," says the 36-year-old rapper, referring to his 2002 movie. "Maybe she's got a problem with hip-hop." Cube adds: "She's had damn rapists, child molesters and lying authors on her show. And if I'm not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?" A call by The Associated Press to Winfrey's spokeswoman at her production company, Harpo, was not immediately returned Friday. Last month, 50 complained that Winfrey rarely invites rappers on her talk show: "I think she caters to older white women." Ludacris , whose real name is Chris Bridges, told GQ magazine that the media mogul was "unfair" to him during a show he appeared on last October with co-stars from best-picture Oscar winner "Crash." Earlier this month, Winfrey defended herself in a surprise appearance on New York City-based radio station Power 105.1. "I listen to some hip-hop," she told DJ Ed Lover. "You know, I've been accused of not liking hip-hop and that's just not true. I got a little 50 (Cent) on my iPod. I really do. Love 'In Da Club.' ... Love that, and you know, love Jay-Z, love Kanye (West), love Mary J. (Blige)." Ice Cube , whose other films include "Friday" and "Three Kings," will release his latest album, "Laugh Now, Cry Later," on June 6. Copyright 2006 The Associated Press. Why do they need to be on the Oprah show? Is his life going to be better if she invites him to talk about his life? Does anyone really want to hear about Ice Cube's life anyway? I mean who gives a rat's furry ass? |

Ice Cube probably feels that because he has successfully parlayed his musical career into acting, writing, producing several movies and a television series, that he's mainstream. http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0001084 He just wants some acceptance and recognition for his accomplishments. In all fairness, if he were a whiteboy, the Oprah ppl would have invited him to the show already, so he has a valid point. I mean Oprah had Kanye on the show and he hasn't done nearly the volume of what Ice Cube has achieved. |

Though hip/hop for awhile has done much for the plight of young inner-city black men, except for artist like Public Enemy and KRSONE, it has done the complete opposite for the plight of young inner-city black women. I completely understand why Oprah hasn't recognized Ice Cube. Let's not forget he's partly responsible for the lyrics, "bitches ain't nothin' but ho's and tricks; lick-a my b%lls and suck my d%ck". Why would Oprah, a champion for women's rights, have someone like Ice Cube on her show? He hasn't done anything to counteract the damage he has done. At least Ludacris starred in a movie that some felt was beneficial to black culture. Ice Cube created woman hating gangsta rap. He's got to do a lot to overcome that shit. |

Oprah apparently likes Jay-Z who disrespects a women in his lyrics as well. Perhaps she prefers him over other rappers because of his business sense. Who knows? Who cares? Is your life going to be validated because Oprah likes you? White people pay Oprah's bills, white companies sponsor her show and keep her studio afloat (do you see Rocawear or Phat Farm sponsoring her show?), thus it is no surprise that her show caters mainly to white people. The day her show starts catering to black people the way black people EXPECT her to is the day that her show is pulled from the air! She has done lots for the hurricane Katrina victims--drawing attention to their plights as well as the young girls who are savagely raped in South Africa. But she is NOT God, she doesn't have the final say. |

That bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks cut was Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. I don't see Ice Cube in the credits. Is that guilt by association or what? As for the rest of his music, I haven't listened to it all. But he's a rapper and rappers are trying to sell their music. Sex sells and that's some of what they talk about. All of those vulgar albums have warning stickers and if you didn't buy it you probably didn't hear it. You listened to that stuff of your own free will just like I did. As if you don't curse or talk about sex. The fact that Oprah used to be trash TV has been completely forgotten, huh? You don't remember her early years do you? Her show consisted of trash because that's what sold at the time. Like the woman who had sex with her dog! But I forgot, you don't find anything offensive about bestiality, do you? Oprah shows like that would have met with your approval, right? Ice Cube performed nasty rap songs and Oprah did trash TV. So why does Ice Cube need to repent and redeem himself for Oprah??? As if she's pure as the driven snow. |

^^^^Exactly, Oprah is an entertainer, just like Ice Cube. People need to stop thinking that she is the end-all and be-all of talk TV, that the right thing to do is have her interview EVERY single black celebrity on her show in order to validate them. |

Oprah should not boycott those who exploit the under belly of society. To do so is to deny its existence. It is no sin to be controversial so "O" should have Ice Cube on her show if for no other reason than that he is an interesting character, somebody who was astute enough to ride the wave of a pop culture trend into the mainstream of captitalism. And as such is really no different than Tyler Perry and his Madear cash cow. For somebody who has no problem casting herself as a refugee from a sordid life, Oprah should resist being judgmental. Ice Cube could give some insight into the Rap mentality, where like many "philosophies" such as Existenialism, Life is viewed as an adversary. What Cube has to say would surely be enlightening about truth and reality. |

What's up Mzuri! Mzuri: That bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks cut was Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. I don't see Ice Cube in the credits. Is that guilt by association or what? Tonya: It was recorded by N.W.A; and Cube was indeed a part of that crew. He was not just an associate; he was one of the artists... guilty as sin. Mzuri: …you don't find anything offensive about bestiality, do you? Tonya: Beasters, or whatever you call them, never did anything to disfigure my status. Cube and his nigger gagsters have. He made niggaz think that it was KOOL to disrespect me publicly, calling me all kinds of ho's and stuck up bitches, just because I wouldn't stop to say hi to their ig-nant black asses. Beasters ain't never did none of that. Another note: Oprah is who she is because of millions of women who watch her worldwide. That she has crossed over to white women is always overstated because people believe that's all that count. Damn the fact that she has viewers all over the world. |

Maybe Cube performed it, but on THE CHRONIC (which I happen to own) Cube is not on it and he didn't write that particular cut. Either way, you listened to it by choice. And if you were offended or insulted by those lyrics or any others, then you need to get a grip on reality. It's a song. Entertainment. If you let your men call you bitches and hoes, then that's on you - not them. http://dr-dre.com/lyrics/chronic_16.php http://www.dr-dre.com/info/chronic.php#16

Well Damn! Tonya, No Man Black or otherwise can TELL you what you are or NOT! Those lyrics don't represent you so don't let them affect you to the point where you decide that you can call US niggers too... There is nothing more offensive than one of US becoming one of Them. Whether or not a sick F%uck wants to have sex with an animal should disturb you however because that is a threat to our existence as a people. Michael Baisden already thinks we should have the opportunity to do everything THEY do... Swingin, Freakin Naked Rock Climbing at Hedonism. We don't need all of that extra sh#t to define us. Our definition is in our genetic makeup. We are Black People, and we are Proud. No one can touch that. They can't beat it out of you. They can't imprison it out of you and they sure the F#ck can't Rap it out of you either. So be my Sistah and let all that other Bulls#t go! BatMo-> |

ice cube wrote "a bitch iza bitch", and he has new material on his new cd that shows blatant disrespect towards women still to this day. i know this because i have most of his cd's. would i play this stuff around my mother, hell no! do i have a problem with it when i hear stuff like that when i'm with my niece or mom from someone who has it blasting out of their car... yes i do. when someone does that they are forcing their shit on someone who didn't ask for it. even though everyone has the right to excersize freedom of speech and to listen to what ever they want, there is a time and a place for everything and since it's her show she feels that it isn't the place for it. however both of them can go to b.e.t, mtv, and vh1. ice cube and ludacris can't expect oprah to seperate their acting from their music carrers ... that's just stupid to expect such a thing. as far as women being disrespected in songs, i'll never get it. when they play a.m.g or that song "ass & titties" in a club it get's women on the dance floor like you wouldn't believe... same goes for the old 2 live crew or jevenile stuff. if a rapper gets that kind of result from a song he should keep making that kind of music ... so i guess if women don't like these lyrics then maybe they shouldn't respond to it in such a positive manner. |

Mzuri, they were still tied to N.W.A. The Chronic was a spin off maybe, but the kind of rhetoric in "Bitches ain't shit" was precisely N.W.A's motto. Plus The Chronic was cut in '92, right? Dr. Dre was clearly a part of "The world's most dangerous group" a year before The Chronic. Here's a cut from N.W.A in 1991: N.W.A. Niggaz4life (1991) One Less Bitch The world's most dangerous group Once again beatin' on your mothafuckin' ear drumbs Doin' much damage for all you slutty ass ho's Yo, there was a bitch I knew on the avenue She was gettin' G oh for a nut or two yo I think her name was Clara and she was garunteed to give a Muthafucka whatever he needs to be perfectly honest she was a hooker So I took her - a 100 yards, to the blvd I told her "I'll take care o' you, you take care o' me" You've gott a P I M P and all I want is the money She went to work and the nigguz were fiendin' yo She had the biggest ass that you ever seen In fact she was like medusa Her tities fully grown A look and your dick turns to stone yeah keepin' on mind that she was the kind that would find the time to get mine because she knows I'm not to be fucked with She ain't crazy fuckin' with dre should be pushin' up daisies She was the perfect ho' but what do you know the bitch tried to gag me so - I had to kill her Yeah, straight hittin' Now listen up and lemme tell you how I did it yo, I tied her to the bed I was thinking the worst but yo I had to let my niggaz fuck her first yeah Loaded up the 44 yo Then I straight smoked the ho' 'Cause I'm a real nigga, but I guess you figure I was soft and she thank me coughed to the boss and got tossed One less bitch you gotta worry about She's outa here and that's how it turns out Now Vikky Vikky Vikky, she's very tricky She put her hicky on top of my dick Sick betsy - she told me she loved me And she wanted to keep me If only she can have the dick with me I said I wanted but baby you gotta hold up If I was happy with somethin' that I could fold up We can do this - she said her husband was rich Then I knew I had the bitch yo She wrote a cheque name me a cheque In the name of a bitch who was strugglin' at the same game All I wanted to do was get P-A-I-D Just a little somethin' for fuckin' me yo Everything was cool but Vikky concerned me Her husband was the District Auterny So, before he found out he was crossed up 'Bout his bitch I was fuckin' I had to tossed her And put you slick - some nigga never forget A dead bitch can't tell a nigga shit One less bitch you gotta worry about She's outa here and that's how it turned out One less, One less, One less bitch you gotta worry about! [Muthafuckin' right!] One less, One less, One less bitch you gotta worry about! Thinkin' about money, and lookin' at a prostitute The bitch was cute, so now I had to excecute And shoot game like a real nigga With a still trigga Convince her to move up to somethin' bigga I think I had a flashback though 'Cause I said "fuck it" Loped and Choked and Smoked to the ho' like this : "Bitch, it's all about Dre The money money money and this all I gotta say" Of course she came with me And remained with me 'Till the bitch felt lamed and ashamed to be Workin' that trick shit 'Cause niggaz knew that she was someone A little later though she called 1 In the chest and I knew that it was commin' By who and how the all act would be done? So what? One less bitch you gotta worry about But that ain't how it turned out.. Yo, there was a bitch named her out and shot her Straight to the Muthafuckin' trigger and said "I got her!" But I had better plans to give her the blues Like dumpin' her in the river with sea net shoes I knew my money was commin' up sho' And the thought that the stupid bitch thought she'd never get cought Came home early and straight bust her ass On the couch with the other nigga countin' my cash I should've known she was like the motha ho's I told the 2 Muthafuckaz to take off their clothes Butt naked nothin' left but the shoes I had up a 9 so they could'nt refuse I shot the nigga he was outa there And tied the bitch to the Muthafuckin' chair Now there's one less bitch I gotta worry about Everybody out, that's how it turns out One less, One less, One less bitch you gotta worry about! One less, One less, One less bitch you gotta worry about! .... MIX with Easy E sayin' : In reality - A fool is one who believes that all women are ladies A nigga is one who believes that all ladies are bitches, And all bitches are created equal. To me - all bitches are the same : Money hungry scandlist groopy ho's that's always riding on a nigga's dick. Always in a nigga's pocket and when the nigga runs out of money the bitch is gone in the wind. To me : ALL BITCHES AIN'T SHIT! One less, One less, One less bitch you gotta worry about! One less, One less, One less bitch you gotta worry about!

Thank you for sharing Tonya, but what you consider sistah hating, I consider freedom of thought, art and expression. I don't take offense to any of that. If I let every little thing that bothers you, bother me - then I would have been done had a heart attack and a stroke. Back to Ms. Oprah, you know money can buy many things. A lot of things. But it can't buy your reputation, it can't change the past and it won't clear your conscience. But perhaps it can help you to forget. And since we already know that neither one of us is going to change the other's mind - let's move on. Cause I ain't spending my day trying to beat another one of your dead horses. |

Frankly, I could give a ant's ass if it bothers you. What I'm saying is it should bother America. And if those lyrics were geared towards white women, trust me, it would. As for Oprah, you're right: NEW money CAN'T buy all. Not only has Oprah already made her dollars, she's an authentic black woman--what makes you think she's going to clown herself for any amount of money tea or gold? It ain't even about beating dead horses; it really is common sense. |

The church going Sistah with high morals think he doesn’t mean her. Those who don't look like the "video ho's" think they are exempt. But they don't understand: this is The Color Purple gone dragnet: it is *RACISM* towards ALLLL Black women: they don't want your crusty ass no more: they ARE talking about you: they are NOT talking about white women. |

Doberman, I agree that Oprah's extreme good fortune would seem to indicate that she is extraordindary. But I still think that on a one-on-one basis, she isn't that remarkable and has no great talent or deep intellect. She is a phenomenon by virtue of the fact that the law of averages says that out of millions and millions of individuals, one of them will have everything fall in place and be the recipient of random good luck. Oprah just happened to be at the right place at the right time. She was "adequate" enough to take advantage of this by surrounding herself with people who make her look exceptional. Money does wonders for people. |
