Tiger Woods' father dies of prostate cancer CYPRESS, Calif. — Earl Woods, a retired Army sergeant who was credited by his son for developing a mental tenacity that led to Tiger Woods' ascension to No. 1 in the golf world, has died at 74, his son confirmed today. He had been battling prostate cancer for more than a year. Statement from Tiger Woods, posted on his Web site, tigerwoods.com "I’m very saddened to share the news of my father’s passing at home early this morning. My dad was my best friend and greatest role model, and I will miss him deeply. I’m overwhelmed when I think of all of the great things he accomplished in his life. He was an amazing dad, coach, mentor, soldier, husband and friend. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him, and I’m honored to continue his legacy of sharing and caring. Thank you to all who are sending condolences to my family and our Foundation. We are truly blessed to have so many who care during this difficult time." You think he's gonna feel guilty for how he shit on his daddy's blackness when he was alive? Or you think he's gonna not care - and never look back - since his daddy is the one that taught him to do it? |

Sad news. I send out my prayers to his family. Wasn't his father biracial as well? |

That's very sad news. I wasn't aware that the father had been sick. Tiger and his entire family must be devastated. May he rest in peace. |

I feel for Tiger Woods, because it seems that he and his father were very close. Though we only see his public persona, I really appreciate/admire the way his father raised him to be so disciplined, well-spoken and well-mannered--and I loved the rapport he and his father had while Tiger was on any given course. I hope he, Tiger, and his family have peace at this time. |

I wonder will Tiger let any of his Black relatives attend the funeral services. |

I never really followed his career or had any interest in him at all. Whenever his name pops up on many black forums nothing but negativity sparks--is he another self hating Black man? I happen to find him grotesque. Huge teeth, bug eyes, overall a rather unfortunate looking man. |
