Chrishayden: "No--so you tell us. What does your husband have to say about racial identity, the one drop rule etc etc." Moonsigns: Chris, the point of me asking that question was to make sure we both agreed that not all black people think alike. And we agree. Sharing my husbands opinions regarding this issue may--or may not--prove that. But I think sharing his opinions about "race" are irrelevant, because when it comes down to it, I don't think your interest is geniune. Chrishayden: "And it does not go both ways and you know it." Moonsigns: Sure it does. It's just a matter of extremes and whether the mistreatment that biracials receive is physcial, mental/emotional, or both. While I will agree that some whites have the tendency to become more violent, some blacks who aren't "light" or biracial, will exclude, within their respected communities, those that are. Though that type of mistreatment doesn't inflict bodily harm, it definitely has an emotional/mental impact--which can be just as harmful in the long run. Chrishayden: "You know what I think it is? A lot of white folks, unconsciously or subconsciously, think we are here to kiss their ass. Make them feel good. When we don't do that then they feel discriminated against." Moonsigns: Chris, I think whites, like any other "color"/"group" of people on the face of this planet, aren't thinking that way about those that aren't "like" them. Chrishayden: "Look at the exchanges we blacks have had here on this site--a lot of whites would swear that we were hating on them." Moonsigns: Some of the exchanges between blacks on this site regarding whites is factual and relevant. However, some of it is clearly "hating".

Society pushes them to be black my ass. This is just the one drop rule in action...and lord knows WE didn't implement that. I remember an interview with that guy from Hustle and flow (I can't remember his name, I think it's Tyrone or T. something). Anyways, he was on Leno or something and said that he says he's black only because the constitution says he's black. How's that for pride? At least he had the nerve to admit it. Most "mixed" people (not all) are black, only because the white man's LAW states that they are, not because they want to be. |

Renata, You are referring to Terrance Howard. In numerous interviews he never fails to bring up his half-white heritage. Both of his parents were Biracial who identified as Black so the intent he has to informing interviewers that he has some white blood in him just rings complete assholiery. It's as if he wants to remind the public he's a different kind of 'Black'. Peter Pan looking mofo. With that old ass jelled, & wavy slick back 60's Do Wap hair-do. |

All his interviews are like this: So where did you gr..? Half-white. Huh? I'm half-white. Let me complete the question. I asked, where did you grow up? I grew up in Chicago, but I'm also half-white. What was it like growing up in Chicago? ...half-white! *sighs* |

What does 'muleatto' really mean anyway? Look at this African-Colombian self-identification census video from 2005. African-Colombian Self-Identification |

Hmmmm? Makes one wonder who here on these boards is truly "full" black (misnomer), and who isn't (predictably the majority). |

Well, if you insist on qualifying the term "Black", tell me, what is a full Latino, full Asian, full European? Give me examples if you will. Are there half-full Blacks? If someone is white, how do you know if he is half-full or full white? Yes there are people who are half Black, but are there half-full Blacks? By "full" do you mean someone of a "West African" phenotype? |
