Hey Ya'll, Have ya'll heard of any books by black authors that will become movies in the next couple of years? I heard a rumor about The Coldest Winter Ever becoming a movie a few years ago. Any others? |

I just ran across this information: In an upcoming Hollywood rags-to-riches story, Will Smith portrays a homeless man who struggles to raise his toddler son and jumpstart a career. He succeeds, not only at single fatherhood, but also at business, founding a multi-million-dollar brokerage firm. This is no fairy tale. The movie is based on "The Pursuit of Happiness" a book by Chris Gardner, a black man who refused to give up.

Addicted will be out next spring, produced by Suzanne de Passe/Zane Entertainment and Lionsgate Films. The trailers will run on Tyler Perry's next film at the end of February and the movie will be released 4-6 weeks later. Blessings, Zane |

That's great for both movies. Someone just sent me a trailer for the Will Smith movie. I'll look forward to seeing both of them on the big screen. -Emanuel |

There was a big buzz about Erica Kennedy's Bling, to be released by Miramax but I haven't heard much about it lately. Enjoyed the book though! I also saw The Pursuit of Happyness at the bookstore a few weeks ago, seems like a very moving story. |

Third Girl From the Left by Martha Southgate was also optioned by Washington Square Films. This is another WONDERFUL book!! I haven't heard anything about it. I guess so many projects fall short. This was suppose to start filming by this summer to be released at the end of the year.
