They Tell Me of a Home by Daniel Black http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0312341873/ref=nosim/aalbccom-20 The past weekend I went to wonderful bookstore in Atlanta, GA called The Shrine of the Black Madonna Culteral Center and Bookstore http://www.shrinebookstore.com/ They have locations in Detriot and Houston as well. I asked them to show me a really good book. I was told that Daniel Black's good was universally enjoyed by everyone who read it. In fact, one of the Brothers in the store said it was a really good book. I was told that people even the poorer older customers that read the gallery -- still purchased the book to keep. Needless to say I scooped up a copy. I'm going to read it before the end of the August. Has anyone else read this book? Peace, Troy

This is a five star book!! VERY, VERY good and glad to see a brother come out with such a well written book, that covers all aspects of a family, it's interesting, has MANY surprising twists and turns and has some laugh out loud moments in it. It was one of my top ten books for 2005. Dr Black is also a wonderful human being. I pray that this book takes off and hear that his next piece of work is even better - I can't wait. He's a new raising star in the MUCH needed Black book arena, especially for Black Male writers. Let us know how you like it when you finish. Tell Thumper to check it out -would love to hear his comments on this book. |
