On Monday, April 24 at 12:30 am CSPAN2 BOOK TV Don't Play in the Sun: One Woman's Journey Through the Color Complex Marita Golden Description: Marita Golden (http://authors.aalbc.com/marita.htm) defines colorism and recounts growing up as a dark-skinned black woman in her memoir, "Don't Play in the Sun." The author sat down with Susan McHenry, the editorial director of Black Issues Book Review, as part of the 2006 National Black Writers Conference hosted by Medgar Evers College in New York City. Author Bio: Marita Golden is the author of "Long Distance Life," "A Woman's Place," "And Do Remember Me, and The Edge of Heaven," "Migrations of the Heart," "Saving Our Sons: Raising Black Children in a Turbulent World" and "A Miracle Everyday: Triumph and Transformation in the Lives of Single Mothers." Ms. Golden is the editor of "Wild Women Don't Wear No Blues: Black Women Writers on Love, Men and Sex" and co-editor with Susan Shreve of "Skin Deep: Black and White Women on Race" and "Gumbo: An Anthology of African American Writing" with author E. Lynn Harris.
