I wanted to share a book that my book club just discussed. The book, All I Ever Did Was Love a Man written by Sharon Allison-Ottey. It is a fiction novel but it deals with real life situations that are so real that you feel and see them as you read. This is by far the best novel that I've read in years and my book club agrees. There is a website, www.allieverdidwasloveaman.com and it is full of info. I feel like I have to help spread the word on this one because of the real subject matter-- love, relationships, the need to be valued, friendships and all that are real topics--- the reading guide is great. However, the issues of health HIV/AIDS and how we put ourselves at risk but also how we deal with persons with HIV/AIDS is absolutely brillant. The story is reportedly fiction but this can happen anywhere and anytime. The writing in brillant and let's get dialogue going if you've read it. I will email the author through her website and ask for her comments. Every AA needs to read (from puberty on....) All I Ever Did Was Love a Man. My daughter, 14 read it BEFORE I did..... |
