FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Belletristic Press Goes Digital
Publisher Puts Control at Book Lovers’ Fingertips with the Release of Multi-platform eBooks NEW YORK, NY—June 10, 2009—Long Island City based independent publisher Belletristic Press makes its books available in multiple digital formats. It’s a progressive, if not bold, move for a minority woman-owned and operated startup press. “I want to give readers our books the way they want them. We’re living in the Digital Age, and a good portion of book lovers demand on-the-go access to their library on their preferred electronic device,” says Gilda “GC” Celestin, Founder, CEO, and Publisher of Belletristic Press. Beginning June 2009, all Belletristic Press print books will be available as digital downloads on Kindle, Sony Reader, Palm PDAs, BlackBerry, iPhone, and iPod Touch. The digital versions can be downloaded at Smashwords, Mobipocket, Amazon, Stanza, Fictionwise, and many other on-line booksellers offering digital content; with just a few button pushes on today’s most popular handhelds. Furthering the goal of giving readers immediate access to books, Celestin inked an agreement with Ingram-owned Lightning Source, the leading print-on-demand book supplier in the US, to have current Belletristic Press titles added to the Espresso Book Machine (EBM) Channel. The EBM, boasting the ability to print and bind a 300-page book in minutes, was developed by On Demand Books and showcased at Book Expo America 2009 at New York City’s Jacob Javits Convention Center. The EBM, an ATM for books, allows customers to select participating titles from its digital database, and watch their chosen books assembled right before their eyes. Launched in 2005, Belletristic Press, LLC publishes and promotes novels featuring “people of color” as main characters. The press’ focus is Erotica, Romance, Thrillers, Urban Fiction, Women’s Fiction, and Body, Mind and Spirit on its self-help imprint, Bedena Books. Using a hybrid model of short run printing and on-demand technology, the multicultural small independent released its first publications in 2007. To date, Belletristic Press has published Motif by Teisha Bourne, And It Goes Like This... by G. Andi Rhos, Eyes on the Pryze by Felisha Bradshaw, The Deity Dogma: Unleash the Goddess within YOU in 28 Days by Helen Brayton, The Darkest Gray by V Lyric Parker, and Vital Signs by Herman L. Toliver, Jr. MD. Going forward, Belletristic Press titles will be simultaneously published in trade paperback and the aforementioned digital formats. “BP is a young company,” Celestin says, “so we’re perfectly positioned to experiment with new applications, tools, and operating systems. When I founded BP I realized that the industry needed a fresh approach in getting books into the hands of readers. Our goal at BP is to blend the best of publishing tradition with the best of publishing innovation because, let’s face it, the world is changing and publishing had better change with it.” ABOUT BELLETRISTIC PRESS Founded in 2005, Belletristic Press, LLC, headquartered in Long Island City, NY, is a small independent book company with a multicultural focus.
